Every person at least sometimes feels weakness in the legs. There can be many reasons for such weakness.
The purpose of our article is to identify the most common of them, as well as to find out ways to combat this unpleasant phenomenon.
Causes of weakness in the legs
There are many known reasons for weakness in the legs. In young and middle-aged people, the reasons may be improperly chosen shoes, prolonged walking or standing, weakness of the body after colds and strict diets.
In old age, there may be more and more serious causes of weakness. These include muscle atrophy and circulatory disorders in the lower extremities.
Why is there weakness in the legs? The main reasons can be listed, but each case is individual, so any factor should be rechecked by a doctor. The following are the most common causes of weakness in the legs:
- atherosclerotic changes in the vascular walls of the lower extremities, narrowing and blockage of blood vessels;
- varicose veins of the lower extremities;
- incorrect foot shape, flat feet;
- obliterating endarteritis, Raynaud's disease;
- inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the joints, spine, muscular system;
- osteochondrosis, pinched nerves;
- endocrine disorders (thyroid disease, diabetes);
- low blood pressure;
- potassium deficiency in the body, etc.
There are many reasons for weakness in the legs, but it is important to identify exactly that one reason in each specific case. After all, to eliminate weakness, it is necessary to eliminate the immediate cause of this condition.
Weakness in the legs and arms
Simultaneous weakness in the legs and arms most often indicates problems with the spinal column. However, even here it is impossible to answer unambiguously. Such a symptom sometimes accompanies disorders of the brain, central nervous system. And sometimes weakness in the limbs is a banal sign of muscle weakness with a protein-free diet or fasting. Weakness in the arms and legs can accompany many diseases, so this symptom should be discussed separately.
Weakness in the legs and dizziness
Weakness in the legs and dizziness often occur in adolescence due to the restructuring of the hormonal system in the body. At this time, along with changes in hormonal levels, there is increased growth and development of the child, the transformation of his autonomic nervous system. In this regard, both weakness and dizziness, and even fainting are possible. This period must simply be "waited out", devoting enough time to rest and proper nutrition.
In adults, weakness in the legs and dizziness are most often associated with the following reasons:
- pregnancy;
- viral or infectious disease (ARI, tonsillitis, flu, etc.);
- head injury;
- fluctuations in blood pressure in one direction or another;
- consequences of a stressful situation, prolonged experiences;
- prolonged fasting or a very strict diet, as well as overeating (with disruption of the pancreas);
- tumor process in the brain area.
Carefully evaluate the most typical reasons for you. If the feeling of weakness and dizziness occurs frequently, then be sure to consult a doctor.
Cotton wool legs and weakness
Sometimes, most often in extreme heat, you can feel a feeling of cotton wool legs and weakness in the legs and throughout the body. But this condition occurs not only in summer, but often in winter and even in spring. These symptoms are common to all people, regardless of gender and age. Why do legs feel weak and "cotton wool"?
The risk group includes certain categories of people:
- women and girls before and during menstruation;
- women in menopause;
- elderly people and old people suffering from chronic circulatory, endocrine or digestive system disorders, as well as those who are overweight;
- people with low blood pressure;
- people whose work involves constant standing or walking.
Often, weak legs and weakness occur due to banal fatigue, lack of sleep, and inadequate nutrition. More serious causes include pre-infarction and pre-stroke conditions: in this situation, weak legs and weakness are usually combined with heart pain, dizziness or headache, and numbness in the fingers. This condition requires immediate consultation with a doctor.
Weakness and pain in the legs
Leg pain can appear in different areas: in the feet, shins, toes, knees. Weakness and pain in the legs can be accompanied by swelling, cramps, a burning sensation, tingling and numbness, pallor and even blueness of the skin of the lower extremities. Of course, only an experienced doctor can establish the correct diagnosis and suggest treatment. We will consider the main possible causes of this condition:
- poor blood circulation (peripheral vascular disease, varicose veins, etc.);
- pinched nerve in lumbosacral radiculitis;
- flat feet (usually accompanied by weakness and pain in the foot);
- closed injury to the lower limb (more common in athletes, or after an unsuccessful fall or blow);
- some of the manifestations of bursitis, arthritis or gout.
How can you determine on your own what disease may be associated with weakness and pain in the legs? There are the following signs that you should pay attention to:
- if weakness and pain in the leg go away if the limb is elevated, this may mean that the problem is in the venous system;
- if weakness and pain in the leg go away if the limb is lowered – there are problems with the arteries;
- If weakness and pain in the leg is combined with a feeling of numbness and “crawling ants”, the cause may be the spine.
However, to get a more reliable answer to this question, you should undergo a series of tests in a medical institution.
Weakness in the leg muscles
Weakness in the leg muscles most often occurs when synapses are damaged - the areas where nerves and muscles connect. Disruptions in these connections can be the root cause of muscle weakness. Acetylcholine is responsible for the stability of synapses - a special substance that in some cases can be perceived by the body as foreign: this is when a disruption in the connection occurs. The nerve impulse does not reach the muscle, which makes it weak (although muscle tissue atrophy does not occur).
Severe weakness in the legs can act as a separate disease or be a sign of other pathologies. For example, very often weakness in the leg muscles occurs in such cases:
- protein deficiency in the body;
- the presence of latent or obvious inflammation;
- initial stage of an infectious disease;
- abundance of toxins in the body, poisoning;
- electrolyte imbalance, dehydration;
- anemia;
- endocrine pathologies (thyroid diseases, diabetes);
- long-term use of large doses of medications;
- neurological pathology.
Severe weakness in the legs can occur due to asthenia, psycho-emotional stress, and anxiety.
Weakness and trembling in the legs
Sometimes such a combination of symptoms as weakness and trembling in the legs may indicate a state of hypoglycemia - decreased absorption of glucose in the body. It has been proven that a lack of glucose in tissues leads to hypoxia (oxygen starvation), with further increasing disorder of carbohydrate and protein metabolism.
Different areas of the brain may be affected sequentially, which explains the appearance of different symptoms as the hypoglycemic state progresses.
Brain tissue and muscle tissue are nourished by carbohydrates. If there is little glucose in the tissue, the cells stop accepting oxygen, even if its level in the blood is sufficient. For this reason, the signs of hypoglycemia are similar to the signs of oxygen deficiency.
Reduced blood glucose levels trigger the sympathetic nervous system, which increases the level of adrenaline and noradrenaline in the bloodstream. Weakness and trembling in the legs are some of the signs of vegetative symptoms, which may be supplemented by other signs: increased sweating, increased heart rate, etc.
By the way, such vegetative signs can be a consequence of more harmless reasons (unlike hypoglycemia): it can be a result of stress, sudden fear, strong excitement or anxiety.
Weakness in the legs and fever
Now let's look at the possible causes of such a combined symptom as weakness in the legs and fever. The first thing that comes to mind is a cold. Maybe, but not necessarily: you may not notice any signs of a cold.
Basically, the reasons may be the following:
- hypothermia or overheating of the body - there is a violation of thermoregulation processes in the body;
- penetration and development of a bacterial, viral or fungal infection in the body - the body responds to the introduction of an infectious agent with an increase in temperature and weakness and “spurs on” the immune system;
- excessive emotional stress – causes changes in blood pressure, temperature, and weakness;
- poor quality and stale food, intestinal poisoning – cause a protective reaction of the body;
- physical overload;
- any intoxication (harmful production, chemicals, drug overdose, alcohol poisoning);
- prolonged exposure to the sun;
- allergic manifestations.
If weakness in the legs and fever do not go away within 2-3 days, or the temperature is very high, you must definitely see a doctor.
Weakness in the left leg
Increasing weakness in the left leg (sometimes in the right), which is accompanied by a disturbance of sensitivity, is often caused by pathology in the spinal cord, spinal roots, pelvic nervous system or peripheral nervous innervation.
- Chronic course of spinal cord disease (syringomyelia, tumor process).
- Progressive lesion of the lumbar or sacral region by neuroma or ependymoma.
In the above cases, weakness and numbness develop in the other limb over time. There may be no pain.
However, perhaps most often, weakness in one leg (left or right) can be one of the signs of an impending stroke - an acute cerebrovascular accident, which is usually associated with a violation of the integrity or blockage of a vessel in the brain. Weakness in the leg in this case is sudden, can spread to the upper limb on the same side, accompanied by severe pain in the head, dizziness and tinnitus. A patient with such signs should be urgently hospitalized in a medical institution to provide him with emergency medical measures and immediate treatment.
Weakness in the right leg
Weakness in the right leg can occur for the same reasons as in the left. In any case, when such a symptom occurs, it is necessary to observe: when the weakness appears, whether it increases or decreases, what symptoms accompany this condition. Depending on the answers to these questions, a preliminary diagnosis can be determined:
- problems with blood vessels, signs of intermittent claudication with emphasis on the healthy leg;
- cerebral circulatory disorder, anterior cerebral artery;
- disruption of the nutrition of the tissues of the lumbosacral plexus;
- multiple sclerosis and ischemic conditions in the spinal cord;
- psychogenic disorders.
If the weakness does not go away or increases, then a qualified examination by a specialist is simply necessary: this can protect against various negative consequences in the future.
Nausea and weakness in the legs
Nausea is one of the most unpleasant sensations that sometimes have to be experienced. This symptom can be caused by many factors, especially if nausea is accompanied by weakness and "buckling" of the legs. This condition can be associated with food intake, or vice versa, with hunger. Sometimes the situation worsens with the addition of dizziness, sweating, vomiting. What can be suspected in this case?
- Orthostatic collapse associated with a sharp change in the position of the body: a sharp rise in an elevator, a fall, participation in amusement rides (roller coasters, elliptical rides, etc.), motion sickness, seasickness.
- vestibular neuritis;
- decreased glucose levels in the bloodstream (associated with both impaired glucose absorption in diabetes and banal hunger);
- consumption of poor quality and stale products, food poisoning;
- taking certain medications, especially on an empty stomach.
Nausea and weakness in the legs may also accompany fluctuations in blood pressure. For example, with low blood pressure (hypotension), such a reaction is often observed, especially if the pressure drops sharply. A similar situation is also inherent in a sharp increase in blood pressure: in this case, nausea and weakness are accompanied by headache, facial flushing, tinnitus and other similar symptoms.
Weakness in the legs when walking
Weakness in the legs when walking is a very common complaint of patients when visiting an orthopedist or neurologist. Rapid fatigue of the legs, pain, the appearance of lameness - the reasons may be associated with age-related changes in the muscular system, or with disorders in the nervous and musculoskeletal system.
- Weakness in the legs associated with age and partial hypotrophy of muscle tissue. This leads to a decrease in support ability, coordination disorder: a person is often forced to seek support when walking, for example, to use a "stick".
- Muscle weakness associated with injury or surgery to a limb or spine.
- Paresis of any one muscle or muscle group. Occurs as a result of degenerative processes in the spine, with tunnel syndrome, poliomyelitis or other diseases accompanied by indirect damage to muscle tissue.
- Muscle weakness associated with low physical activity or with professional activities that involve prolonged stress on only one muscle group. When palpating, it is possible to determine flabbiness or, conversely, muscle spasm.
The state of muscle hypotrophy and weakness can be eliminated if rehabilitation measures are started in time. Dosed physical exercises, correct distribution of load on muscle groups will help stop the atrophic process.
Sudden weakness in the legs
Such a sensation as sudden weakness in the legs is most often a consequence of various vascular diseases, both of the lower extremities and the spinal cord, which provokes a disruption of normal blood circulation in them. In most situations, these are disorders of spinal cord blood flow, less often - the phenomenon of hematomyelia (hemorrhage in the spinal cord).
All kinds of vascular diseases, their compression or narrowing worsen blood flow in the extremities. Among the most common causes of sudden weakness in the legs, three series of factors can be named:
- vascular diseases, congenital (aneurysm, vascular hypoplasia) or acquired (atherosclerotic changes, thrombosis, thromboembolism, varicose veins, endarteritis, phlebitis, circulatory failure in heart disease);
- compression of blood vessels, which may occur as a result of tumors, enlarged lymph nodes, intervertebral hernia, inflammatory infiltrate, etc.;
- injuries to the legs and spine, which could lead to circulatory disorders in the lower extremities.
To clarify the cause of sudden weakness in the legs, it is recommended to undergo diagnostics: CT and MRI of the spine, angiography, etc.
Headache and weakness in the legs
In addition to hypotension (low blood pressure), headaches and weakness in the legs can occur with poisoning by chemical compounds, in particular, organophosphorus. Such substances as chlorophos or malathion are widely known not only in veterinary medicine and sanitary epidemiology, but also in everyday life.
Vapors of organophosphorus substances enter the body mainly through the respiratory tract or through the digestive organs, and can also be absorbed in smaller quantities through the skin and mucous membranes.
Symptoms of poisoning develop almost immediately: weakness in the legs, fatigue, headache, nausea or drowsiness may occur. If no help is provided, the process may further affect cardiac activity (slowing of the heart rate). Blood pressure decreases, hypersecretion develops (increased sweating, salivation, etc.), a pressing feeling appears in the chest.
This condition requires emergency medical care and not only detoxification measures, but also the administration of drugs that support the body's basic vital functions.
Numbness and weakness in the legs
Numbness and weakness in the legs, a feeling of "coldness" in the feet are common signs of vascular diseases of the legs: atherosclerosis, postembolic occlusions, obliterating endarteritis, diabetic angiopathy. In some cases, the cause may be damage to the peripheral nerves.
Obliterating vascular diseases of the legs are accompanied by narrowing of the vessels up to the closure of the walls. This leads to disruption of blood and lymph flow. The first signs of such diseases are considered to be a feeling of cold in the feet, pain, weakness of one or both affected limbs (first under load, then - and at rest).
Numbness and weakness in the legs initially appear only from time to time, and only as a result of prolonged walking or other physical activity on the limbs. As the disease progresses, such symptoms bother more often, even after 200 m of the distance covered, a person is forced to stop and rest.
In diabetes, numbness and weakness are associated with vascular damage: over time, the vessel walls become brittle, reticular hemorrhages and intermittent claudication appear.
In some cases, the cause of numbness may be angiotrophoneurosis - vegetative-vascular neurosis, which develops as a result of a long-term spasm of small arteries. The legs first go numb in the toes, then tingling and burning begin, the skin turns pale. This condition may occur periodically at first, then more often: in this case, the attacks become longer.
Weakness in the legs and lower back
If there is simultaneous weakness in the legs and lower back, or in one leg and lower back, then in most cases an impending attack of radiculitis (lumbago) is suspected. Especially if the feet or toes "go numb" and the lower back aches. However, this is not the only reason for weakness in the legs and lower back. Possible factors include:
- other diseases of the spinal column, such as osteochondrosis, spondylolisthesis, sciatica, herniated discs, spondylitis;
- consequences of back injuries, tumor processes in the spine;
- diseases of the pelvic organs, such as calculous pyelonephritis, cystitis, adnexitis, adhesive disease, inguinal hernia, etc.
With the listed diseases, compression of nerve endings may occur. At the same time, in the presence of an inflammatory process, the function of nearby tissues and organs is disrupted, trophism and normal metabolic reactions are impaired. As a result, muscle tone increases in the area of innervation of the affected nerves, which leads to weakness first, and then pain in the lower back and limbs.
Constant weakness in the legs
Constant weakness in the legs can be a consequence of the following pathologies:
- nervous diseases (lumbosacral plexopathy, intervertebral disc injury, spinal hemorrhage);
- diseases of the musculoskeletal system (systemic vasculitis, Paget's disease, deforming arthrosis);
- cardiovascular diseases;
- blood diseases (hypovitaminosis, anemia);
- infections (polio, paraparesis);
- metabolic disorders (lack of B vitamins);
- oncology (tumors of the brain and spinal cord);
- injuries, falls, decompression.
Constant weakness can be caused by many pathologies, so it is very important to undergo a qualified examination and identify the true cause of this condition.
Weakness in legs in the morning
Weakness in the legs in the morning - why does this happen? It would seem that the body has rested overnight, recovered. But the legs - as if they did not rest. What could be the reason?
Muscle weakness in the legs can be a sign of endocrine disorders. It appears as a result of dysfunction of the endocrine glands, as a result of which the ionic balance of the interstitial fluid is disrupted. This condition is often observed with insufficient adrenal gland function, with excessive thyroid and parathyroid gland function. Diabetes mellitus can cause polyneuropathy, which can also subsequently lead to weakness in the legs in the morning.
Often, weakness of the legs occurs due to insufficient blood circulation. This condition can be observed with thrombosis of the leg vessels, endarteritis, atherosclerosis. In addition to weakness, characteristic symptoms are "coldness" of the legs, cyanosis, the appearance of persistent ulcers on the legs.
Hypotension (low blood pressure in the arteries) can also worsen blood flow to the lower extremities. Often, such symptoms are provoked by strong psycho-emotional stress, worries, and stress experienced the day before.
Symptoms of weakness in the legs
Symptoms of weakness in the legs occur primarily in those muscles that bear the bulk of the load. Thus, the first signs of weakness may be:
- a feeling of fatigue, a desire to sit down or at least lean against a wall;
- a feeling of cold feet, even at a comfortable ambient temperature;
- a feeling of numbness in the lower limbs, a sensation like “crawling ants”;
- leg cramps;
- swelling of the legs, heaviness;
- "wagging" legs.
As the disease progresses, a person may develop lameness, pain in the legs (especially when climbing stairs, standing for a long time, or walking long distances).
If such symptoms appear, you should not panic: after all, weakness in the legs is not always caused by some serious illness. You just need to see a doctor as soon as possible to avoid unpleasant consequences.
Next, we will look at the most common symptoms that appear simultaneously with weakness in the legs: knowing about the combination of such symptoms, it is easier to assume any painful condition and begin treatment in a timely manner.
Weakness in the legs with VSD
VSD – vegetative-vascular dystonia – is characterized by frequent fatigue, headaches, intolerance to heat and stuffy rooms, increased sweating and other disorders, including weakness in the legs with VSD. What causes this disease? First of all, disorders of the functionality of the autonomic nervous system.
What is the autonomic nervous system? It is the part of the nervous system that acts as a regulator of the performance of all internal organs. The autonomic system is not controlled by our consciousness: it monitors stable body temperature, blood pressure, stabilizes digestive and urinary processes, ensures normal functioning of the heart, endocrine glands, immunity, etc., including vascular tone.
With vegetative dysfunction, various pathological phenomena may arise, including, among other things, psychoneurological disorders: weakness in the limbs, decreased performance, unmotivated fatigue, irritability, migraine, weather sensitivity, sleep disorders.
Weakness in the legs with VSD can be hereditary or associated with certain disorders in the body:
- hormonal changes, endocrine diseases;
- frequent or constant stress;
- brain damage (trauma, oncology, ischemia, etc.).
Vegetative-vascular dystonia is treatable, and over time, weakness in the legs goes away.
Weakness in the legs in multiple sclerosis
Weakness in the legs with multiple sclerosis can occur suddenly or increase slowly, and the patient does not suspect anything and does not consult a doctor for a long time. However, weakness in the legs is one of the first signs of the disease, along with visual impairment and impaired coordination.
Weakness of the lower limb muscles in multiple sclerosis most often occurs gradually. Patients with the initial stages of the disease only notice after some time that their legs have become tired, up to gait disturbances and lack of coordination of movements. The appearance of such a sign is explained by a disorder in the passage of nerve impulses along nerve fibers, including in the central nervous system.
The most common symptom of multiple sclerosis is paraparesis caused by muscle spasms. A process affecting only one limb is extremely rare. Usually, patients feel only some fatigue at the beginning of the disease, which gradually increases and turns into muscle weakness. Thermal phenomena can aggravate the situation: heat, colds with high body temperature, too active physical exercise, hot showers or saunas. By the way, this is an important distinguishing feature: if the condition does not worsen when exposed to high temperatures, then the disease should be differentiated from vascular disorders.
Weakness in legs after chemotherapy
Weakness in the legs after chemotherapy is often associated with the specifics of the treatment of hematological and oncological patients. The degree of weakness may depend on the duration of the chemotherapy course, the medications used, and other concomitant diseases of the patient. It should be noted that each person may have several factors simultaneously that provoke the appearance of weakness.
- The patient may develop anemia as a result of chemotherapy, which, in addition to lowering the level of hemoglobin in the bloodstream, affects the appearance of a feeling of weakness and fatigue.
- If chemotherapy is carried out against the background of reduced immunity, the patient may develop infectious diseases, one of the first manifestations of which is weakness in the limbs.
- Weakness during chemotherapy can be associated with numerous worries about one’s health, with so-called psycho-emotional stress.
- After chemotherapy, appetite often disappears: the patient eats poorly or does not eat at all, loses weight and, accordingly, becomes weaker.
- After chemotherapy, the patient may experience hormonal and metabolic disorders, which is associated with intoxication of the body and disruption of the functioning of certain organs.
- Sleep disorders, constant pain, depressive and anxious states can only worsen weakness.
- Also, weakness in the legs can be caused by the medications that the patient is taking.
Weakness in the legs is especially pronounced in elderly patients due to age-related changes in muscle tissue, a sedentary lifestyle, and concomitant chronic diseases.
Weakness in the legs with osteochondrosis
Osteochondrosis is probably one of the most common diseases of the spine in the world. It is a degenerative process affecting several vertebrae, destroying the structure of cartilage and connective tissue.
Pathological changes sooner or later affect the nerve fibers and surrounding vessels, which narrow and spasm.
The disease develops over a long period of time and gradually. If the lower parts of the spinal column are affected, then weakness in the legs appears first, gradually turning into pain, which intensifies at rest. What is the cause of weakness in the legs in osteochondrosis? With insufficient supply of oxygen, nutrients to the limbs, and with impaired excretion of metabolic products. Treatment of such weakness should be aimed at restoring normal blood supply to the lower limbs, as well as innervation in the affected part of the spine.
Weakness in the legs of a child
Why can you sometimes observe weakness in a child's legs? Of course, this can be due to paraplegia, rickets, muscle hypertension, but most often the reasons are not so serious. Although they should not be ignored under any circumstances.
As a rule, weakness often occurs when a child is just learning to walk: in order to prevent weakness, all movements of the baby must be controlled and directed. After all, the weight of the child is a big load on still weak legs. In addition, one should not discount the fact that the child may have a deficiency of cholecalciferol and ergocalciferol - vitamins that are very important for the growth and development of children.
Weakness in the legs of a child may be accompanied by symptoms of general weakness of the body. This may be caused by liver disease, general intoxication, colds, etc. If weakness occurs against the background of head incontinence, the child's reluctance to learn to walk and drawing up the legs when trying to walk independently, one may suspect disorders of the musculoskeletal system. With such a pathology, it is imperative to see a doctor.
Weakness in the legs in the elderly
Unfortunately, weakness in the legs of older people is, in most cases, a completely natural phenomenon. Over time, age-related degenerative changes in muscle tissue occur, a person becomes physically less active, leads an increasingly sedentary lifestyle. In addition, various pathologies join in:
- vascular diseases (varicose veins, atherosclerosis and other circulatory disorders);
- diseases of the musculoskeletal system (inflammation of the joints, arthrosis, disorders of the structure and functionality of the spinal column);
- endocrine diseases (thyroid disease, diabetes).
In elderly people, treatment of leg weakness should be aimed at symptomatic relief of the condition, increasing blood circulation in the extremities, strengthening blood vessels and the musculoskeletal system.
Weakness in legs during pregnancy
Most often, weakness in the legs during pregnancy is associated with significant changes in the body: now the expectant mother needs to adapt to the changes, so the activity of some physiological processes is compensated by the slowdown of others.
Weakness in the legs in the early stages may be associated with anemia (hemoglobin deficiency), hypovitaminosis, toxicosis, sleep and appetite disorders.
Weakness in the second half of pregnancy is usually associated with a large load on the legs, a growing belly and uterus, and swelling of the lower body. In addition, during pregnancy, the load on the blood vessels increases, which is fraught with the appearance of spider veins and varicose veins. All these signs together predetermine the appearance of weakness in the lower extremities.
Low blood pressure is often observed during pregnancy, which is associated with fatigue, anxiety, and a lack of nutrients in the body. This also contributes to the process of weakness in the legs. However, following a daily routine and proper nutrition will help cope with such an unpleasant phenomenon.
Who to contact?
Treatment for weakness in the legs
Of course, the main treatment for leg weakness should be aimed at eliminating the underlying disease, be it a pathology of the spine, endocrine system or blood vessels. Additionally, you should establish a daily routine, devoting time to both physical exercise and sufficient rest. It is important to take into account the following points:
- spend more time outdoors, try to relax actively, take walks in the park or along the river;
- eat a balanced diet, consume vegetables and fruits, and prevent the development of vitamin deficiency and anemia;
- periodically take a contrast shower or foot bath: alternately with hot and cold water;
- choose comfortable shoes according to the season: if the shoes are uncomfortable, it is better to change them;
- avoid standing for long periods of time: if possible, it is better to sit down or walk around;
- monitor your posture, do exercises to strengthen your back, and periodically undergo preventive massage sessions (about once a year).
From folk methods you can use the following recipes:
- honey compress: lubricate your feet with natural liquid honey (or warmed up in a water bath), wrap in cloth or bandage. Remove the bandage after 24 hours, rinse your feet with warm water, and then repeat the procedure. The course of treatment is up to 1 week. This procedure can also be used for back pain;
- a contrast bath of linden infusion with the addition of rock salt. Fill a basin with cold water (+15°C) and a basin with warm water (+40°C). Ten times alternately lower your feet into one and the other basin, finishing the procedure by lowering them into cold water.
You can simply pour cool water over your feet. Rubbing your feet with eucalyptus, mint or lemon balm oil gives a good effect.
Weakness in the legs can be a consequence of our inattentive attitude to ourselves (wearing uncomfortable shoes, bad habits), but it can also be a manifestation of serious diseases. Therefore, this symptom should never be ignored: be attentive to yourself and your health.
