A sharp pain in the back, of course, does not bring pleasure to anyone. When such complaints appear, a person immediately tries to find a means to get rid of this pain as quickly as possible. After the pain has passed, rarely does anyone think about the reasons for its appearance, about further diagnostics. And in vain, because often it is precisely this kind of pain that can indicate that something is wrong with the body, and appropriate measures must be taken.

Symptomatic treatment is aimed at relieving pain. Various painkillers are used. Muscle relaxants may be required if there is a high degree of muscle tension. Hormonal therapy is sometimes used.

And only after a complete diagnosis has been made, the causes of acute back pain have been identified, can one proceed to pathogenetic and etiological therapy. In addition to the main treatment, maintenance therapy is also necessary during the period of exacerbation and remission. An active lifestyle, regular physical exercise and sports are important.

What to do and how to relieve sharp back pain?

It is always important to remember that pain without a clearly defined cause indicates a pathology, that some processes in the body are disrupted. You cannot simply suppress pain without finding out the reason why it arose. The first thing you need to do is to find out the cause, thoroughly understand what is happening in the body, and only then can you select a treatment that will correspond to the diagnosis. Otherwise, you can relieve pain that acts as a signal for pathology, without eliminating the pathology, but only suppressing it. As a result, it will only get worse.

Let's look at a specific example. The patient had back pain, but he ignored the pain. He took a painkiller. The pain subsided, but then came back. He increased the dosage, and this helped cope with the pain, it no longer bothered him. The man continued to lead his usual way of life. The pain did not bother him for about a year. But one day, severe pain appeared again, which was not removed by painkillers. Vomiting, nausea, and fever appeared. This was accompanied by urinary retention, severe colic and pain in the kidneys and bladder, which was accompanied by confusion, delirium and hallucinations. Bloody vomiting also appeared. An ambulance had to be called.

The arriving team provided emergency care on the spot and immediately hospitalized the victim. They had to provide emergency care, remove urine, insert a catheter, and clean out the intestines. All measures were aimed at maintaining vital signs and stabilizing the condition. After the main indicators were stabilized, the threat to life had passed, and they moved on to diagnostics.

As it turned out, the cause of such a serious condition was a cancerous tumor in the urinary tract, which grew and blocked the ureter. This led to urine retention, along with metabolic products. An inflammatory process developed in the kidney. Tissue necrosis (death) began, which provoked bleeding. As it turned out, the pain that the patient had a year ago was a sign of the development of a polyp. If the patient had not suppressed the pain with painkillers, but had gone to the doctor and undergone diagnostics, it would have been possible to detect the polyp at an early stage of its formation and remove it. A full abdominal operation would not even be required for removal. It would have been enough to use the laparoscopic method.

Now the polyp has transformed into a malignant tumor. Such a deterioration in the condition allowed timely assistance, and a fatal outcome was avoided. The tumor was removed surgically. It was necessary to perform 2 complex operations. Fortunately, metastases did not have time to form, and the tumor was completely removed and the process was localized. Now the patient is undergoing rehabilitation, recovering from the operation, and has been incapacitated for more than a year. If the patient had consulted a doctor in time, at the first signs of pain, only removal of the polyp would have been required, without a number of complications and the risk of a fatal outcome.

Medicines

Medicines are very diverse. These can be local remedies and systemic drugs. You should always take precautions - at least consult a doctor, pay close attention to your health, undergo diagnostics and preventive examinations. When taking any medicines, you need to tell your doctor about it. This will help avoid side effects and complications. The most effective and relatively safe medicines are presented below.

No-shpa - one tablet (50 mg) is prescribed 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is from 10 days to 3 months, depending on the severity of the pathology, the degree of severity of the pain syndrome. Relieves spasm, eliminates pain syndrome.

Spazmalgon is used to relieve spasms, eliminate muscle clamps, and pain. Take 1-2 tablets 3-4 times a day, depending on the severity of symptoms and pain. The duration of treatment ranges from 7 days to 2-3 months. In this case, you must strictly follow the regimen prescribed by the doctor.

In case of severe pain, ketanov (ketoprolol) is prescribed. This is a potent painkiller, the essence of which is to block pain receptors. It is prescribed if other painkillers do not have the desired effect. Take no more than one tablet per day (250 mg). In many cities and countries, it is sold only by prescription.

If the cause of pain is an inflammatory process in the kidney area, it is recommended to take Urolesan. It is taken 10-20 drops, depending on the intensity of pain. It is recommended to drip onto a piece of refined sugar, and take it with sugar when pain occurs. This enhances the effect of the drug. If there is no sugar, or it is not allowed (for example, with diabetes), it can be taken in its pure form, washed down with a small amount of water.

Vitamins

When pain develops, it is necessary to take vitamins, since most of these manifestations are directly or indirectly related to a violation of vitamin metabolism and their deficiency in the body. It is recommended to take vitamins in the following daily concentrations:

  • Vitamin B 2-3 mg
  • Vitamin D – 1000 mg
  • Vitamin PP – 60 mg
  • Vitamin A – 240 mg
  • Vitamin E – 45 mg
  • Vitamin C – 1000 mg.

Physiotherapy treatment

Depends on the cause of the pain. If the cause is a pinched nerve, inflammation, spasm or muscle strain, it is better to use thermal procedures. In case of kidney diseases, it is recommended to use electrophoresis, electrical procedures, acupuncture, and other similar procedures. In case of diseases of the spine and vertebrae, therapeutic exercise and massage are recommended.

St. John's wort will help to quickly relieve pain (the decoction is prepared at the rate of 2 tablespoons of the herb per glass of boiling water). Use only for men. St. John's wort is contraindicated for women.

Homeopathy

Many people believe that homeopathic remedies are safe and can be taken independently, in unlimited quantities. But this is one of the most common misconceptions that lead to the development of numerous side effects and complications: from worsening the condition to poisoning, complications in the heart and kidneys. There are even cases when such self-medication ended in death. Hence the main precaution that should be taken for successful treatment - do not self-medicate, but consult a doctor first.

Treatment of sharp back pain during sleep depends on what caused the pain. Accordingly, such treatment is called etiological. Usually it is enough to eliminate the cause, and the pain will go away on its own, as a consequence of this cause. Medications, physiotherapy methods, folk remedies, homeopathy and herbal medicine are used.

Chondroitin ointment is used when severe pain occurs. Apply a thin layer to the painful area. Can be used up to 5-6 times a day. It is also recommended to take vitamins in the following daily concentrations:

  • Vitamin PP – 60 mg
  • Vitamin A – 240 mg
  • Vitamin E – 45 mg
  • Vitamin C – 1000 mg.

Treatment for sharp back pain when bending forward

For treatment, means of therapeutic physical training are used, without which it is impossible to overcome the pain syndrome. Also important are means and techniques of active and passive gymnastics. It is recommended to perform a set of static, dynamic breathing exercises, relaxation practices. It is better to complete such practice with relaxation training, meditation, autogenic training, contemplation and concentration of attention.

In this case, one of the main treatment methods is therapeutic physical training, gymnastics. The most effective is the author's method of physical rehabilitation, developed by the senior researcher of NPF "Panafarm" Ovcharenko Sergey Valentinovich based on Chinese and Sufi health practices "Sphere". This set of exercises involves careful work on the joints and muscles of the entire body. Just 15 minutes a day gives the opportunity to work on all muscles, from the largest to small intercostal, etc.

To do this, you need to stand straight, arms along the body, legs approximately shoulder-width apart. We put full emphasis on the entire foot, we try to distribute the load evenly. We find the most stable position. Maintaining balance, raise both hands up, above the head. We hold our hands with palms facing each other.

We begin to slowly rotate around our axis, clockwise. We try to keep our arms as straight as possible, without bending them at the elbows. We do it 10 times in one direction, 10 times in the other direction. Then we keep our arms along the body again. We begin to slowly rotate our neck, rotating it in a circular motion first in one direction, then in the other. Then we move on to working out the chest. After that, we work out the shoulder, rotating it in a circle first in one direction, then in the other. We work out the elbows and hands in a similar way.

Place your hands on your waist, make circular movements with your waist, hips, and pelvis, making the maximum range of motion. Rotate 10 times in one direction, 10 in the other. Then move on to working on your hip joint, knee joint, and foot. After that, stop, raise your hands up, and take the deepest possible breath. Exhale and bend forward. After that, sit on the floor in a comfortable position. Close your eyes, try to relax as much as possible, and track your sensations. Sit as long as it is comfortable.

Surgical treatment

Surgical treatment methods are used, but before applying them, you must first find out the reason for this pain. In any case, surgical treatment is rarely used. Resection methods are mainly used in the development of tissue necrosis, tumors. Intervertebral hernias, vertebral displacements, pinched nerves and muscles are also treated surgically. If the cause of pain is liver or kidney pathologies, various operations on these organs (according to indications), up to transplantation, may be required. Pleurisy is also often the cause of pain. In this case, a puncture, drainage of the pleural cavity may be required.
