If you have been diagnosed with radiculitis, treatment will depend primarily on the severity of your symptoms.
The goal of drug treatment is to reduce inflammation, tissue swelling, and pain.
Treatment of radiculitis with physiotherapeutic methods
If you or your loved ones have radiculitis, treatment may include acupuncture - a method widely used in the treatment of this disease, it is based on the impact on the projection points of the body, through which it is possible to exert a significant influence on various organs, affect the nervous, endocrine and immune systems. Special needles are taken for the procedure, the number of which depends on the severity of the pathology. A big plus of acupuncture is that it has virtually no contraindications. The course of treatment is 10-15 procedures.
Vacuum therapy is considered to be a rather effective method of treatment. After a course of such therapy, blood circulation and motor activity of the ligamentous apparatus improve, congestion in tissues is neutralized, and muscle contractility increases. This method helps to relieve pain quite quickly and safely. Vacuum therapy procedures are performed manually using medical cups.
When a disease such as radiculitis occurs, treatment may include manual therapy and massage. The difference between these two types of therapy is that massage is an effect only on muscles, and manual therapy involves influencing the spine, intervertebral discs and bones directly using hand manipulation.
Laser therapy has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and anesthetic effects due to the light energy of laser radiation.
Pharmacopuncture is one of the methods of reflexology, which consists of introducing medicinal preparations, often homeopathic, into special points under the skin. As a result, compressed muscle fibers relax, swelling subsides, pressure on nerve endings is eliminated, pain syndrome is neutralized and joint mobility is normalized.
If you suffer from radiculitis, treatment should also include magnetopuncture - this is the effect on biologically active points by means of a constant or alternating magnetic field using magnetophores or vacuum cans with magnets. At home, it is advisable to use mustard plasters on the affected area - first, a layer of gauze is applied, then mustard plasters moistened with warm water. This allows you to leave mustard plasters on for a long time. The patient needs strict bed rest. The use of cooling paraffin (40-50 degrees) or paraffin-ozokerite applications has a good effect.
In the stage of incomplete remission, balneotherapy (the use of mineral waters in the form of baths for therapeutic purposes), mud therapy, and traction treatment (indicated only in the absence of pain) are widely practiced.
Treatment of radiculitis with medications
If you have been diagnosed with radiculitis, treatment may include medications that relieve inflammation (Movalis, Voltaren, Ortofen, Ibuprofen, Piroxicam, Indomethacin, Diclofenac), Vitamin B, pain-relieving and warming substances (bee or snake venom - Apizartron, Viprosal, pepper tincture), etc.
It is also recommended to apply applications with dimexide, novocaine and hydrocortisone. To relieve muscle spasms, it is advisable to use sirdalud, baclofen, myolastan, etc. To improve microcirculation, drugs such as trental, actovegin can be prescribed. Vitamin preparations (B, C, E), thioctic acid are widely used. B vitamins reduce the manifestations of neurological disorders caused by radiculitis, restore tissue sensitivity, and reduce pain.
To overcome radiculitis, treatment should be comprehensive, procedures and medications should be prescribed only by a doctor, the load on the spine should be minimized, while in the future it is necessary to engage in therapeutic exercise to restore the normal functioning of the spinal joints and intervertebral discs.
