When it comes to lordosis, you need to understand that this term can be defined as normal, physiological curvature of the spine, which performs a number of important functions, and is necessary to maintain the normal functioning of the spine. Providing movements. But there are cases of pathological lordosis. Under which the spine is deformed, subjected to curvature. Therefore, it is quite natural that the treatment of lordosis is not always required. In this regard, the correct diagnosis, aimed primarily at distinguishing pathological lordosis from the norm variant, acquires special significance.
How to treat lordosis at home?
The main method of treatment of lordosis, especially at home, is physical activity. How to treat lordosis with physical exercise can always be prompted by a doctor or an exercise therapy instructor. But for this is extremely important preliminary diagnosis. It is better to visit an orthopedist who will conduct a diagnosis. Then a referral to exercise therapy is given, there the doctor will make a selection of individual exercises, everything will show, tell, control the correctness of the performance. After that, you can safely perform the exercises at home, on your own.
Today, in the Internet era, the possibilities of treating lordosis at home are expanding many times. So, today on the Internet, on sale you can find a lot of videos, CDs with a set of special exercises, including for the treatment of lordosis. Conducted video training, provides detailed instructions for the implementation of exercises, conducting classes. You can get online advice, become a member of an online workout or advice that is organized by experts from different parts of the world for their patients.
It is the treatment through exercise that is really effective in restoring the spine. No other means can be compared with exercise.
Traditionally, special therapeutic exercise (exercise therapy) is considered the main tool, namely a set of exercises to restore the spine and correct its pathologies. But today there are a number of other means, for example, yogotherapy. The structure of yoga therapy even includes a special section - spinal yoga, aimed at treating various spinal pathologies.
In addition, yoga itself is represented by a large number of exercises for the spine. Virtually no training of classical hatha yoga can do without them, since it is generally accepted that it is a healthy spine that is the key to our health. In accordance with the Vedic concepts, it contains the main vital force of a person. It is a source of powerful energy (Kundalini), which supports the entire body. There is also a separate type of yoga, Kundalini Yoga. This area contains a set of exercises designed to target the spine, allowing you to activate vital energy.
Qigong, Chinese wellness practices, numerous breathing exercises, which are also directed mainly at the spine, have proven themselves well. There are exercises for cleansing and complex study of the spine, paravertebral muscles located along the spinal column and intervertebral discs, correction of lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis, intervertebral hernia and inflammatory processes.

Treatment of spinal lordosis in adults
If pathological lordosis of the spine develops, especially in adults, it requires mandatory treatment. The main method of treatment is exercise, because the cause is often an insufficient level of exercise, or its incorrect distribution along the spine. How to choose the right exercises, tell an orthopedist, a surgeon, a doctor or an exercise therapy instructor, a yoga therapist, a qigong master or instructor, a wellness practice.
In addition to exercise therapy, treatment with position, rhythmic and isometric gymnastics, static and dynamic, breathing and meditative exercises are applied. Assign special corsets, bandages. The special exercises are also positively influenced, which are aimed at working out intervertebral disks, muscles located between the vertebrae and along the spine itself. Massage and self-massage, methods of physiotherapy, including ultrasound, microcurrents, waves of various lengths, electrophoresis, cryotherapy, thermal procedures, electrical procedures are also used for this. Huge success can be achieved through segmental-reflex massage, reflexology, acupuncture, acupressure (shiatsu), vertebral effect.
Hydro procedures that allow you to relax the spine, reduce the load, have a positive effect. To do this, mainly used therapeutic baths that relax the muscles, relieve spasm, pain. Also used cold. Hot, contrasting compresses, applications for the area of lordosis, wraps, dousing, steam baths, baths and saunas. Procedures with hot water help especially well, as it effectively relaxes and normalizes blood circulation. Apply the impact of hot water, both on the lordosis itself, and on the corresponding segments of the body, biologically active points. For example, the method of wrapping the legs "in a spiral." They use walks in water, walking is especially effective because it affects the vital centers of the foot. It is useful to walk in natural reservoirs, on special paths in pools, in special hydromassage baths with an uneven bottom. Today, along with hydrotherapy, fish therapy is widely used, the essence of which is that in addition to water, the body is also affected by algae, sea stones and special fish, which eat cornified skin on the legs and feet, thereby stimulating biologically active points. Scottish shower, Charcot's douche, shower-bath, jacuzzi, hydromassage baths have found wide application in practice. In extreme cases, even a normal wiping with a damp sponge, dousing, and a wet dressing can help. Today, the fashionable way of treatment is specially organized swimming lessons, water aerobics.
Cervical lordosis treatment
As practice shows, only physical culture is the only truly effective method of treating lordosis, including cervical. It is recommended to practice on a regular basis, perform exercises daily, and sometimes even several times a day - in the morning and in the evening. More simple exercises are performed in the morning (mostly relaxing, stretching). In the evening, toning, strength exercises and twisting exercises are performed. It is also recommended to practice about 1-2 times a week with an exercise therapy instructor (he will check how well the exercises are performed, correct the training regimen if necessary). The fact is that improper exercise can not only benefit, but also worsen the condition. Physical therapy exercises should also be selected by the doctor, based on the individual characteristics of the patient, the severity of the disease, and how it can be treated.
The basic principle is the use of an integrated approach, that is, it is necessary to select exercises in this way, thus to build a training session. So that all muscle groups are involved, not only the spine. In addition, you need to alternate methods of relaxation and tension, be sure to include relaxation, meditation, breathing exercises. The load must be increased gradually. Particular attention should be directed to the latissimus dorsi muscle, the pectoral muscles, since they maintain the symmetry of the body and ensure correct posture.
Exercises
Consider a short set of exercises that can be performed throughout the day to treat cervical lordosis. Exercises are convenient because they do not require a lot of space. They can be carried out in any free time, in any place. In order to fulfill them, it is not necessary to even get up. To achieve maximum efficiency, it is recommended to perform at least 10-15 approaches per day.
- Exercise number 1.
Sit exactly. Try to straighten the spine as evenly as possible, so that the waist, shoulders, and neck are in one line. From behind, try to bring the shoulder blades down as far as possible and then lower them down. To check the evenness of the back, lean against the wall. Try to relax as much as possible, sit in this position for at least 5-10 minutes. Eyes better cover. Also try to get as far as possible from the outside world, do not think about anything.
- Exercise number 2.
Try to join hands behind the castle (behind the back). Raise them up as high as possible without releasing the lock. You can lean forward slightly.
- Exercise number 3.
Make a lock at the back, behind the head, placing the crossed fingers on the neck. Try to straighten your neck as much as possible while moving your shoulders and shoulder blades back. Try to bring the chest as far as possible forward. Hold this position for at least 5 minutes.
- Exercise number 5.

Lower the head as much as possible down to the left shoulder, then - to the right. This is one cycle. Repeat 10-15 cycles.
- Exercise number 5.
Perform circular movements of the head first in one direction, then in the other. Exercise as slowly as possible.

Lumbar lordosis treatment
For the treatment of lumbar lordosis, the combined effects of massage and motor activity are recommended. At the same time, the spectrum of physical activity is extremely diverse. Therapeutic exercise is traditionally used - exercise therapy, because it is a proven, standardized and reliable method recognized as medical. Previously, qigong, yoga and yogotherapy were considered as unconventional, auxiliary methods. But today they are already considered as medical, traditional, proven and proven medical practice. Nontraditional, however, highly effective methods include fitness, callanetics, aerobics, shaping, body flex. Especially effective will be those exercises that are aimed at the study of the waist, the latissimus dorsi, the muscles located along the spine and between the vertebrae.
It is recommended to finish any training with relaxation, breathing exercises, light massages, and active-passive gymnastics. Approximately 20-30 minutes after a workout, it is recommended to have a massage session (manual therapy). The average duration of the massage should be 30-40 minutes. It is important to work out the zones along the spine, the areas between each vertebra. When massaging, you should use warming massage oils, or special compositions for the spine.
Exercises
For the treatment of lordosis, it is not necessary to perform many exercises. The main thing is to perform the correctly chosen exercises. Consider the three main exercises, without which curing lordosis is almost impossible.
- Exercise number 1.
Performed in the supine position. First you need to lie down, relax as much as possible. Take a few deep breaths. Bend your knees. Put your hands apart, to the sides. Blades as much as possible to the floor. Then lower both legs to the left, then to the right side. At the same time, care must be taken to ensure that neither the hands nor the shoulder blades come off the floor. Repeat the exercise 15 times on each side.
- Exercise number 2.
Performed in a sitting position. Cross your legs in front. Sit as straight as possible. The head, neck, back and loins should be in line. It is better to perform an exercise near the wall. Push the spine as closely as possible to the wall. Try not to strain while relaxing the body as much as possible. Sit down. Relax, listen to your breath. Take a few deep breaths and exhale and as you exhale, raise your hands up. The palms should look at each other. Sit in this position for a few minutes, trying to relax as much as possible. Take a deep breath, as you exhale, sink forward. Try to sink to the floor as low as possible, while keeping your legs crossed. Try to lower the lower back. Press the lower back as far as possible to the floor. Pull the spine forward, hands, too, palms forward. Palms inward, and look at each other. Inhale, we rise up, sit down in the starting position.
- Exercise number 3.
Performed in a standing position. Get straight. The head, neck, back and buttocks should be at the same level. It is better to perform against the wall, clinging to it as much as possible. Then slowly raise your hands up. Palms inward, looking at each other. We stand for some time in this position (2-3 minutes). We take a deep breath, on an exhalation we lower hands down. We try to go down as low as possible, if possible - to hold hands on the heels. We lower the head, we try to press it to the knees. While inhaling, we slowly rise, sliding our hands along the legs. Once raised, it is necessary to make a backward bend to compensate for the state.
Treatment of lordosis in a child
The treatment of any lordosis, in a child, or in an adult, requires mandatory physical exertion. It is necessary to conduct regular training aimed at training the spine, working out the muscles of the back. Exercises in combination with massage, swimming are especially effective. The child has a very elastic and flexible spine. It is easily corrected by correction of the situation. To do this, use special orthopedic pillows, mattresses for sleeping, static racks. The use of a corset is required only as a last resort, it is better not to use it unnecessarily, since it significantly limits the mobility of the child, limits the possibility of full growth and development.
It is worth noting that the method of treatment of lordosis in a child is no different from that in adults. The only thing is that the child quickly disappears interest in monotonous exercises, therefore children use children's exercises, with elements of game techniques, with a high degree of mobility. Ordinary respiratory and meditative practices are replaced by plot and role-playing, games. You can use numerous auxiliary materials, didactics. It is important to use different senses, change the environment, engage in music, introduce a competitive component, and encourage success at each stage.
During the massage, special children's massage techniques are also used, which the masseur owns with a specialization in the field of baby massage. Duration of massage for children on average 15-20 minutes.
Exercises
We recommend a set of 3 exercises for the treatment of lordosis, which children with pleasure do at any age.
- Exercise number 1. Beetle
Children are asked to lie on their backs. They ask to depict a beetle that cannot turn over from its back to its legs. We maximize our arms and legs, make spontaneous jerking movements. The spine should be as close as possible to the floor. At the same time, the sound “MF” is loudly pronounced.
- Exercise number 2. Cat
The child is asked to portray a cat that has just woken up, and stretches, arches the back.
On the score 1-2-3-4-5 - the cat is sleeping, the children try to curl up to the maximum like a cat.
At the expense of 6-7-8 - the cat wakes up, slowly becomes on all fours.
On the score of 9-10 - the kitty is smacking. He tries to crouch on the buttocks, lie down with the rib cage on the floor, reach out as far as possible, stretching his arms forward. Children say "MUR".
At the expense of 10-20 - kitty arches back. We get on all fours, rounding the back with a “hump” as much as possible. The kids say “mnau”
Repeat the exercise several times.
- Exercise number 3. Grasshopper
The child sits down (starting position - in full squat). On the count of 1, the grasshopper hides in the grass. Children maximally press against the floor, rounding the back, pressing the neck into the shoulders.
On the count of 2 - the grasshopper jumps out of the grass - the children jump sharply. Fully erect.
On the count of 3 - the grasshopper hides again in the grass, the children return to their original position.
In the course of the exercise, the children imitate the sounds of the grasshopper “Zwin-Zvin-Zvin.”

Smooth lumbar lordosis treatment
An important role is played by special corrective exercises, which are designed to normalize the state of the spine, the muscular-ligamentous apparatus. It is also important to periodically change exercises, so as not to cause addiction.
And one more prerequisite - be sure to comply with the structure of classes, consistency.
- Warm up First, there should be an introduction with warm-up exercises. It is advisable to include here all the exercises aimed at warming up (turns, bends, jumps, moving exercises).
- Main part. Includes basic exercises aimed at intensive study of the spine, to develop strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, that is, the development of all the necessary qualities. Important exercises for twisting, the development of correct posture. Both statics and dynamics are uniformly applied.
- Final part. It includes mainly relaxing, meditative exercises, breathing practices, you can try isometric gymnastics, the essence of which consists in consistent tension and relaxation of various parts of the body. Such gymnastics will help to relieve stress, relax muscles.
Special corrective exercises are also relevant here, as well as stretching, relaxation, active and passive exercises.
Anchoring effect. It is recommended to finish the training with special exercises related to the meditative-contemplative block. The central place in it is given to breathing exercises.
Exercises
The Diamond Rod complex from the system of classical hatha yoga and yogotherapy has proven itself quite well. The complex was developed specifically for the treatment and restoration of the spine (author - AM Lobanov). - Rector of the Academy of Traditional Health and Development Systems, the author of many medical and restorative techniques, doctor, yog therapeutist, chief doctor of the clinic of yogotherapy and qigong therapy (Nizhny Novgorod). The author of the author's system is Yoga LAM (Yoga Lobanov Andrei Mikhailovich). The complex is represented by 6 exercises.
- Exercise number 1.
You must sit in the lotus position, or any other available position with legs crossed in front. We place our hands in front of us in Namaste (palms are joined at the level of the heart, fingers are looking up). We close our eyes, relax, focus on the spine. Mentally scan the entire spine, starting from the top of the head, and ending with the falcon. We try to relax as much as possible.
- Exercise number 2.
We set hands back, behind a back, we connect in the lock. Slowly, vertebra for a vertebra, we go down. At the same time we try to relax as much as possible, we try to touch the floor with the top of the head. The back is rounded.
- Exercise number 3.
Hands placed on his knees. We close our eyes, take the chest as far as possible forward, and try to take the waist and buttock as much as possible back. At the same time, a deflection is formed in the lumbar region. We watch at the same time that muscles did not strain. The whole body should be relaxed.
- Exercise number 4.
Sit in the starting position - with legs crossed, hands on your knees. Hands in Namaste. Then raise one hand exactly up. Throw it over the head, do the tilt to the left. We try to bend down as much as possible, touching the floor with the upper arm (if possible). Return to the starting position. We take a few breaths and exhale, repeat the same exercise in the other direction.
- Exercise number 5.
Sit in a pose with crossed legs, hands should be crossed: the right hand is on the left knee, the left hand is on the right knee. Raise one hand up, hold exactly in front of you. We cross - we turn in the direction of this hand, clockwise. At the same time we try to keep the shoulders straight, in line. Return to the starting position. Repeat the exercise in the other direction in the same way.
- Exercise number 6.
The legs are crossed, the spine is flat. The head is flat. Hands raised up, palms looking at each other, elbows smooth. We sit in this position for some time. We try to scan the spine as consciously as possible, to catch all the sensations, changes that have occurred in the body. Then slowly lower our hands in Namaste in front of us.

Treatment of breast lordosis
The main method of treatment of thoracic lordosis is a specially selected exercise, correctly distributed physical load on the spine. Swimming, hydromassage procedures are widely used for treatment. In addition to exercise therapy, treatment is applied by position. Physiotherapeutic treatment methods have been widely used (ultrasound, microcurrents, waves of various lengths, electrophoresis, cryoprocessing, thermal procedures, electrical procedures).
A special corset may be recommended, aimed at maintaining an optimal state of the spine and muscular frame. Apply a bandage, which is aimed at unloading the spine.
Exercises
For the treatment of lordosis of the thoracic region, it is recommended to perform asanas (special exercises from the hatha yoga complex). The following asanas are intended for the thoracic section:
- Bhunjangasana is known in two versions, as the position of the “Serpent lifts its head”, and the asana itself is the posture of the Serpent.
- Trikonasana
- Matsyasana
- choose
- Padachastana
- Ardha-Chakrasana
- Halasana
- Dhanurasana
Finishing the practice is recommended Shavasana (Dead Man's posture, relaxing asana).
Corset for the treatment of lordosis
If necessary, the doctor may prescribe a corset for the treatment of lordosis. It aims to maintain the optimal state of the spine and muscle frame. But keep in mind that only a doctor can select a corset and prescribe it. Because there are many nuances, and if you do not take into account all the parameters, you can harm instead of correcting the situation. Usually prescribed after diagnosis (X-ray), depending on what angle of curvature shows the radiograph. It should not be worn constantly, but with the observance of an individually selected treatment regimen. It is considered as an adjunct, but without exercise, it will not have the desired effect, and the treatment of lordosis will not bring results.
