Treatment of scoliosis involves complex and sometimes long-term treatment of the human body. This is explained by the fact that the disease often develops, remaining unnoticed, so it is fixed and develops into a chronic form.

Before telling what procedures are involved in the treatment of scoliosis, it is necessary to learn more about this disease. This disease is usually called any changes, curvatures to the sides of the spinal column. It starts in childhood and "grows" with the body.

Clinically, scoliosis is divided into C-scoliosis, that is, simple, having one bend, there is also an S form, characterized by several curvatures. Depending on the age of the patient, the disease can be diagnosed as infantile (up to three years of age), juvenile form (up to ten years of age), adolescent form (up to fifteen years of age) and scoliotic deformations of an adult. Scoliosis treatment of these forms will be different.

Signs of scoliosis are:

  • Visually, from the back - a change in the vertical of the spine, from the side - a forward curvature (lordosis), as well as a backward curvature (kyphosis);
  • Asymmetrical arrangement of the shoulder blades;
  • Shoulders bend forward;
  • Asymmetry of the shoulder line;
  • Forward tilt shows protrusion and curvature of the ribs;
  • Asymmetry of the waist line;
  • When lying on your stomach, you can visually see the protrusion of your shoulder blades and the muscle tissue of your back;
  • Asymmetry of the buttock line;
  • Difference in the length of the lower limbs;
  • Scoliotic deformities are often accompanied by flat feet;
  • When lying on your back, the deformation of the sternum is visually visible;
  • Asymmetry of the knee line, when the legs are pressed tightly against each other.

Treatment of scoliosis is divided depending on the degree and level of severity, and therapeutic measures are also based on X-rays. The most effective is the treatment of scoliosis at an early stage, the earlier the disease is diagnosed, the faster and more successful the treatment process itself will be. The complex of therapeutic measures includes the following actions:

  • Management of the growth of vertebrae that are included in the deformation zone;
  • Elimination of functional compensation of curvature, stabilization of the spinal column;
  • Neutralization and decompensation, that is, elimination of body deviations that compensate for deformation;
  • Prescribing drug treatment that activates metabolism.

As a rule, this disease is treated with conservative treatment; much less often, surgery is indicated for pathological changes in the spine.

Treatment of scoliosis consists of the following procedures and rules:

  • Rules for a staticodynamic regime are being developed - you need to monitor your posture, move actively, and perform a set of therapeutic exercises;
  • The rules of the orthopedic regime are being developed - fasting days. When lessons should be done lying in bed, wearing special orthopedic devices - corsets, pads, for babies it is recommended to sleep in a special plaster "crib";
  • Drug therapy is prescribed - chondroprotective drugs, NSAIDs, vitamin complex, herbal medicine;
  • Manual therapy sessions;
  • A complex of physiotherapeutic mud procedures, electrotherapy, impulse therapy, and reflexology are prescribed.

If necessary, a psychologist can work with school-age children to increase motivation for treatment and remove certain complexes associated with the requirement to wear corsets and pads. A mild form of scoliosis is a change in the vertical of the spine by no more than 10 degrees. A curvature reaching 20 degrees is already a disease

Treatment of scoliosis involves responsible and long-term treatment. If you do not start acting in time, this disease can give rise to the development of cardiovascular diseases, respiratory pathology, and dysfunction of the reproductive system. For girls, future women, it is dangerous because it can provoke adnexitis, menstrual irregularities. Accordingly, problems with conceiving and bearing a child in the future may arise. Boys may have no fewer problems caused by scoliosis - these include inflammatory processes of the genitourinary tract, and heart rhythm disturbances, and other equally serious diseases. It is for these reasons that parents should be attentive to their children's posture. At the slightest symptoms, it is necessary to contact a surgeon or orthopedist while there is still an opportunity to stop the disease at the development stage.
