Regional inflammation refers to the lymphadenitis of a specific area (also called local). Such a pathology is observed with cat scratch disease, when an increase in the lymph nodes of the neck, underarms occurs after a bite, a scratch or the ingress of saliva into the human bloodstream.
Causes of regional lymphadenitis
Inflammation of regional lymph nodes cause syphilis, tuberculosis, herpes pathogens, tularemia. Regional lymphadenitis is an inherent secondary symptom of syphilis. There is a consolidation and an increase in the lymph nodes closest to the primary syphilitic sores (chancram). For example, the localization of solid chancre in the genital area contributes to the growth of inguinal lymph nodes. Often the lesion covers a group of lymph nodes, the size of which varies from beans to chicken eggs. Nodules have a dense consistency and are painless on palpation, changes from the skin are not observed.
Symptoms of regional lymphadenitis
The regional type of lymphadenitis on the neck or face area is formed due to infections of the oral cavity and face. The presence of a viral infection in children younger than 4 years causes inflammation in the submaxillary zone or on the anterior / posterior surface of the neck. Bacterial type of causative agent provokes unilateral lymphadenitis on the lateral part of the neck in patients older than 4 years of age.
As medical practice shows, regional lymphadenitis is more often of a nonspecific type. Stomatological agents are strepto- and staphylococci, and the infectious focus develops in one zone. For this reason, doctors recommend caution in self-medication acne, acne, purulent wounds. In children, regional inflammation of the cervical and knots in the armpit is diagnosed several months after the BCG vaccination.

Treatment of regional lymphadenitis
Treatment of inflammation of regional nodes is reduced to revealing the cause of pathology, i.e. Underlying disease. Therapy depends on the severity of the course and the stage of inflammation and includes:
- course of antibiotics;
- reception of vitamins, anesthetics, immunocorrectors and antihistamines;
- physiotherapy - ultrasound, UHF treatment, sollyx and others;
- if necessary, blockade with novocaine;
- in case of purulent process - opening the capsule of the lymph node and treatment with antiseptics, as well as surgical excision.
