Prostate cancer: the prognosis of the disease is most often favorable, with the early detection of prostate cancer and timely surgery.
Prognosis of prostate cancer in the first and second stages - a 5-year survival of the patient after a radical prostatectomy surgery is 74-85%, and a 10-year-old patient - 55-56%.
Prognosis for prostate cancer when using radiotherapy is a 5-year survival rate of 72-80% of patients, and a 10-year survival rate is 48%. Unfortunately, often prostate cancer is found in the late stages (III-IV stage), which makes the prognosis unfavorable because of the emergence of multiple metastatic foci in other organs of the body (5-year survival in prostate cancer in stage III is 50%, IV stage - 20%).
The prognosis of prostate cancer is also influenced by the age of the man, the presence of concomitant diseases, the level of PSA ploidy of prostate cancer cells in the blood serum, the adequacy of therapeutic measures and the quality of observation of the patient.
Stage A1. Usually not treated, the progression of prostate cancer (prostate cancer) is observed in 0 - 15% of cases.
Stage A2. 5-year survival of patients (without progression) is more than 90% (against treatment background).
- Remote radiation therapy (can be used 4 to 6 weeks after a transurethral resection of the prostate gland).
- Radical prostatectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy.
- Dynamic observation of a patient without specific treatment.
Stage B1. 5-year survival rate without progression of prostate cancer progression (prostate cancer) on the background of treatment - 85%, 10-year-olds - 50%,
Stage В2. 10-year survival rate - 37%.
- Radical prostatectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy and radiation therapy.
- Remote radiation therapy for prostate cancer.
- Dynamic observation of a patient without specific treatment.
Stage C. 5-year survival without progression of prostate cancer (prostate cancer) on the background of treatment - 48%.
Remote radiation therapy for prostate cancer.
- Radical prostatectomy with pelvic lymphadenectomy.
- Palliative treatment of prostate cancer (radiotherapy, transurethral resection of the prostate, hormone therapy)
Stage D. 5-year survival without progression of prostate cancer (prostate cancer) in the background of treatment -21%.
- Palliative treatment of prostate cancer (radiation therapy, transurethral resection of the prostate, hormone therapy).
