Products play a very important role in psoriasis. Nutrition should be gentle and moderate, because the patient is not recommended to overload the digestive organs. The daily diet must be balanced so that food contributes to regular cleansing of toxins. It is also important for the patient not to gain excess weight, which aggravates the course of the pathological process.
Prohibited foods for psoriasis
Prohibited foods for psoriasis that should not be present in the diet:
- alcoholic beverages;
- smoked meats and fatty dishes;
- spicy and fried foods;
- salinity;
- spicy seasonings;
- preservatives, colorings, other food additives;
- citrus fruits;
- white bread and buns;
- gourmet blue cheeses;
- chocolate, cocoa, candy, sugar;
- garlic, onion, mustard, horseradish.
Some experts consider only flowers, seeds and buds of spicy plants to be allergenic, while leafy spices and spicy roots, which contain a minimum of aromatic substances, are allowed for consumption (in small doses).
Essential oils in herbs and citrus fruits irritate the mucous membranes of the digestive organs and the skin.
Strong drinks and tobacco provoke an exacerbation of the disease and at the same time reduce the effectiveness of medications.
Salt is allowed in minimal doses.
Antibiotics destroy beneficial microflora.
Even permitted dishes cannot be mixed together. For example, vegetables and fruits do not go with porridge, milk - with sugar and tea, and protein foods - with starch.
If the prohibited product does not cause any adverse reactions, then it can be consumed sometimes, but rarely and in small amounts.
Healthy foods for psoriasis
Products for psoriasis should ensure normal functioning of the digestive tract and daily bowel movements.
Healthy foods for psoriasis include all permitted fruits and vegetables (except red ones, as well as all nightshades and legumes). Vegetables are best eaten raw or steamed. The fiber contained in plant foods makes stool easier, stimulates the gastrointestinal tract and thus cleanses the body.
Sour milk, kefir, sour milk cheese, yogurt contain calcium. This mineral resists inflammatory processes and allergic reactions. All milk products should be low-fat.
Sea fish is healthy due to its content of unsaturated fatty acids.
- Vitamins and antioxidants strengthen the immune system and nervous system, have a beneficial effect on the skin, and eliminate the harmful effects of free radicals. These substances are found in beef liver, buckwheat, bran, and fresh juices.
Vegetable oils, due to the large amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids, strengthen blood vessels, normalize fat metabolism, and prevent allergies.
Fish, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, and nuts enrich the body with zinc, which is needed for recovery, healing of wounds, reducing inflammation, and eliminating flaky areas.
With psoriasis, it is necessary to drink enough water - at least two liters per day. Of the mineral waters, alkaline ones are recommended.
If the therapeutic diet does not ensure daily bowel movements, it is recommended to use laxatives or olive oil in small doses.
Dairy products for psoriasis
Dairy products for psoriasis occupy a special place in the patient's diet. They are varied, tasty, enrich the body with proteins, fats, many vitamins, calcium and other microelements. In total, milk contains more than a hundred useful ingredients. The most popular is cow's milk and its processed products.
Milk has bactericidal properties, prevents the development of infections, strengthens the immune system. Microelements ensure the health of hair, nails, skin, regulate metabolic processes. As a sedative, milk serves to prevent insomnia.
Milk is also used in the form of masks – for nourishment, soothing, and relieving skin irritation. The amino acid lysozyme contained in milk promotes cell regeneration.
It is recommended to enter the following in the menu:
- skim, low-fat or powdered milk;
- buttermilk;
- butter and margarine;
- hard, processed, soft cheeses;
- kefir, yogurt;
- goat milk;
- almond milk.
Goat milk differs from cow milk in its better digestibility and tolerability. It strengthens the immune system, has a positive effect on blood composition, and promotes recovery from various skin pathologies. That is why the product is useful for patients with psoriasis.
For psoriasis, use this recipe: bring milk to a boil, keep it on minimum heat for five minutes, pour into another container. The white coating remaining on the walls is used to lubricate problem areas.

Table of products for psoriasis
The table of products for psoriasis was created by the American scientist Pegano. The essence of John Pegano's theory is that products are divided into acid- and alkali-forming. In psoriasis, their ratio is important. Since an alkaline reaction is needed to renew the skin and eliminate inflamed neoplasms, the patient's daily diet should contain 20-30% acid-forming and 70-80% alkali-forming products. This method is successfully practiced in the world and allows you to get rid of psoriasis without the use of drugs, only through a balanced diet. For patients, nutrition according to Pegano becomes not just a diet, but a lifestyle.
- Based on this nutrition system, the patient's menu should be dominated by lean oils, plant foods (except for prohibited vegetables and fruits), milk and its processed products, eggs, fish dishes and lean meat. Plain water, fresh juices, herbal teas and decoctions should ensure water balance. Lecithin added to food or drinks increases alkalinity.
Proper nutrition must be combined with cleansing baths, physical exercise, a positive attitude and a healthy lifestyle.
The results of the Pegano diet are visible after a month. There is a decrease in inflammation, the number and intensity of plaques. In the most favorable outcome, they can disappear completely. Another positive effect of such a diet is getting rid of excess weight.
However, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of the organism and the possibility of different reactions of patients to the same products in psoriasis. Therefore, the diet should be made individually for each patient. Excessive strictness in the diet is also stress for the organism, which can negatively affect the course of the disease.
Each organism reacts differently to forbidden food. The list of products for psoriasis can be expanded or shortened depending on the state of health and individual characteristics, the patient's well-being after eating a particular dish. It is important that the food does not provoke an exacerbation, but on the contrary, enhances the effect of other treatment methods - to eliminate symptoms and prevent relapses of the disease.
