Painful ulcers in the mouth (on the cheeks, lips, sky or gums) are the first signs of such an unpleasant disease as stomatitis. You can not say that it is impossible to avoid it. Whatever the disease provoked: an incorrect way of life, weakened immunity or microtraumas of the mucous membrane - to reduce the risk of its occurrence can be through the prevention of stomatitis.
What provokes stomatitis?
In order to correctly prevent stomatitis, it is necessary to understand the causes of its occurrence, and there are more than enough of them:
- Weakened body (stress, avitaminosis, weakened immunity, hormonal failures).
- Microtrauma of the oral cavity.
- Associated problems and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, cardiovascular system, tumors, metabolic disorders.
- Viral diseases.
- Non-compliance with personal hygiene.
- Wrong way of life and bad habits.
- Running dental problems.
- Inconvenient dentures or sharp edges of teeth.
Whatever the reasons, and whoever does not suffer from ulcers in the mouth - an adult or a child - the prevention of stomatitis is the main measure on the way of treating the disease. It is aimed first of all at careful hygiene of the oral cavity and attentive attitude to one's own health.
Prevention of stomatitis in adults
- Most often, stomatitis in adults is triggered by neglected problems of the oral cavity. Therefore, first of all once every six months, take a survey from a dentist. The best prevention of stomatitis in this case is timely dentistry.
- Pay attention to the sensations after the treatment at the dentist - stomatitis can be caused by sharp angles of teeth or seals and uncomfortable dentures that rub the gum.
- An important point in the prevention of stomatitis is a balanced diet. In order to avoid vitamin deficiency, you must include proteins, complex carbohydrates and fats in the diet, and also drink a course of vitamins every three to five months. In addition, stomatitis can occur with allergies to food, so pay attention to the fact that after eating what foods in the mouth there are painful sores.
- Avoid nerve strains and stress.
- Do not allow injury to the oral mucosa.
- Do not forget that the most important rule of stomatitis prevention is observance of elementary rules of personal hygiene: daily brushing of teeth, rinsing with solutions without adding alcohol and lauryl sulfate of sodium, use of dental floss.
- If stomatitis is provoked by other diseases (lesions of the ENT organs, digestive tract, liver), you need to contact the attending physician and in addition to compliance with the rules of prevention, eliminate the root cause of the disease.
Prevention of stomatitis in children
Unfortunately, stomatitis in children is a common occurrence. That's why parents should pay special attention to its prevention.
The golden rule of preventing stomatitis in children is careful hygiene of the oral cavity and the place where the child is.
- Periodically quartz and always ventilate the nursery.
- Thoroughly wash in a soapy toy solution and do not allow to enter the mouth if they fall to the ground.
- The child should have his own dishes, a toothbrush and a towel.
- Mummy babies need to remember about breast hygiene - it should always be clean.
- If someone close is sick with herpes or stomatitis, then it is better to limit the communication of the baby with him.
- For older children, the main principle of preventing stomatitis is the habituation to personal hygiene: washing hands after the street and toilet, brushing your teeth. Also it is necessary to wean the child to take into his mouth foreign objects and hands.
- Like adults, children with the prevention of stomatitis need a balanced diet, vitamin complexes (only with the advice of a doctor!) And the maintenance of immunity.
Anyone who has experienced the "charms" of stomatitis once, most likely, will face the disease more than once. But adherence to the elementary principles of stomatitis prevention will provide you with almost 100% protection against painful sores in the mouth!
