At the present time, the elastic reflexors of the thoracic spine, for example "FOSTA" and "WILSON A", more commonly known as a posture corrector, have been developed and successfully applied in a complex of functional treatment and prevention of postural disorders. They are designed in such a way that they exclude undesirable side effects with the greatest possible positive effect and are intended for treatment and prevention of disorders of posture and diseases of the spinal column.
The posture corrector has such elasticity that it is calculated in such a way that, at their use, the necessary volume of movements of the spinal column was preserved and at the same time correction of curvature and unloading of the vertebral bodies took place.
Indications for the use of a corrector posture
The use of correctors significantly reduces the damaging effect of the static position of the body. This makes it possible to use them to prevent postural disorders and prevent diseases of the spinal column for those who are forced to stay in a static position for a long time. Corrector posture is shown with professional increased loads on the spinal column, wearing weights. In this case, they are used to unload the vertebral column during breaks.
For children 6-8 years old, the posture corrector F4401 is most often used, which has a nonspecific effect and is used for wide indications. Its action is more "disciplining". If the child begins to slouch or lifts one shoulder above the other, the corrector "reminds" of the need to keep the back and shoulders in the right position. This corrector is especially effective for winged scapulae. Suitable for adults with minor violations of posture and for prevention.
How does the posture corrector work?
Corrector posture has the following mechanism of therapeutic and preventive action. During the static position of the vertebral column, the muscles experience an unchanging load and are in an asymmetric tone, and the intervertebral joints and disks are without any movement for a long time.
When the corrector acts, a change in the contraction and relaxation of the muscles occurs. The elastic posture corrector and the contracted muscle act as a spring pendulum. The spinal column performs light vibrational movements, slightly bending and flexing with a frequency of 5-10 movements per minute. This happens reflexively, and the person practically does not notice that even in the static position the spinal column continues to move and perform oscillatory movements.
Reflex pendulum movements, on the one hand, give respite to overgrown hypotrophic muscles, and on the other hand - cause them to contract in the new correct position. Increases the tone and reduces the threshold of excitability. Muscle mass grows and the contraction force normalizes. And this happens not at the expense of increasing the load on the spinal column, but due to alternation of rest and tension. This kind of reflex therapeutic gymnastics allows to achieve a positive effect. During reflex pendulum-like movements, the muscles in the hypertension are stretched, relaxed, their tone decreases. A similar mechanism of muscle relaxation is present in manual therapy.
Gradually the reflex pendulum movements lead the spine to the correct position, in this position a new habit of maintaining the posture is formed and the own muscular corset is rebuilt. Due to the unloading of the vertebral bodies (reclination), the force vectors acting on the joint and ligament apparatus are more correctly distributed, as a result of which their normal functioning is restored in the course of time. The pain subsides, the volume of movements increases. Corrector posture when wearing encourages the patient to independently hold the trunk in the correct position, forming a stable skill.
The alternation of contraction and relaxation of the muscle improves her blood supply. The muscle receives enough oxygen and nutrients, it retains normal tone and elasticity. In addition, correctly distributing the load on the muscles-antagonists, the posture corrector promotes their symmetrical development and the formation of their own muscular corset, which keeps the spine in the correct position. With reflex pendulum movements, the trophism of the intervertebral joints and discs improves, their degeneration is prevented, the normal volume of movements is preserved.
The influence of the posture corrector also reduces and optimizes the distribution of the load on the vertebral bodies both directly and due to the formation of the muscular corset. The probability of osteochondrosis and other diseases of the spinal column decreases.
Types of posture correctors
The posture corrector W711 is designed in the same way as the F4401, but it is made of a lightweight material. It is shown to children of small stature, people with weakened muscles. The corrector is not designed for significant loads. It is usually used in cases where the application of F4401 causes inconvenience.
Corrector Posture F4402 is designed to prevent and eliminate kyphotic deformation. It helps to unload bodies of vertebrae, practically does not hamper movement. It is recommended to use the corrector for children of 10-12 years and adults with kyphosis, osteochondrosis, spine diseases, which require the unloading of vertebral bodies (osteochondrosis of vertebral bodies, the consequences of injuries and operations) and for prevention. It is ineffective in scoliosis.
Posture Corrector F4602 has a complex effect on almost the entire thoracic spine (from vertebra T3 to T5-T12). Corrector posture unloads the body of the vertebrae, reduces kyphotic deformation. With its use, there is also a uniform distribution of lateral loads, which contributes to the symmetrical development of muscles and a decrease in arcuate deformations of the spinal column in scoliotic disorders. It can be used by children from 6-8 years old and adults. Corrector of posture is effective in the complex of treatment and prevention of kyphosis, scoliosis and with their combination, according to wide indications for diseases and consequences of injuries and operations of the thoracic spine for the treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of complications.
