The first type is aching pain in the back and legs, the severity of which correlates with muscle weakness. Pain can be localized in the gluteal region, on the front and back of the thighs on both sides.

Alcoholic polyneuropathy pain

According to modern data, alcoholic polyneuropathy is detected in 49-76% of people suffering from alcoholism (in half of these patients - at a subclinical level). The clinical picture is dominated by vegetative and sensory disorders (severe forms of the disease with paresis and paralysis are currently rarely observed).

Diabetic polyneuropathy pain

Diabetic polyneuropathy is a common complication of diabetes mellitus. The most common variants of peripheral nervous system damage in diabetes mellitus are distal symmetric sensory and sensorimotor polyneuropathy. These same forms of polyneuropathy are most often accompanied by pain syndrome.

Spinal cord injury pain

Chronic moderate or severe pain is noted in 27-94% of patients with spinal cord injury. It is believed that 30% of patients have pain of a predominantly central neuropathic nature. The causes of pain syndrome formation after spinal cord injury are not fully understood. Neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury is most often characterized by patients as "pinching", "tingling", "shooting", "exhausting", "pulling", "irritating", "burning", "shooting", "like an electric shock".

Syringomyelia pain

Syringomyelia is characterized by pain sensitivity disorders, leading to hypoesthesia and so-called painless burns. At the same time, pain syndrome in syringomyelia is noted in 50-90% of patients. Clinical characteristics of pain are very variable. Some patients complain of radicular pain in the arms, pain in the interscapular region, and sometimes in the back.

Multiple sclerosis pain.

Pain occurs in 56% of patients with multiple sclerosis, and in almost a third of cases it is neuropathic. In 87% of cases, pain is localized in the lower extremities, in 31% - affects the arms.
