What diseases does pain in the navel area indicate?
This is a disorder of the small intestine (in particular, enteritis)
Inflammation of the small intestinal mucosa - exacerbation processes
In this case, the mucous membrane becomes inflamed and its tissues become deformed. The cause may be infections that have entered the body, as well as lamblia and manifestations of enterocolitis (deformation of the large intestine) in one bottle.
Among the symptoms of inflammation of the mucous membrane of the small intestine is pain, long-lasting, aching, which can bother a person regardless of whether he has eaten or not.
Also, inflammation of the mucous membrane is manifested by a feeling of abdominal distension, pain under the pit of the stomach and in the navel area; there may be no appetite, the person eats reluctantly. At this time, the stomach may rumble, it is bloated.
The skin may be pale, too dry, even creams do not help with this dryness, nails often break, and gums bleed despite good toothpastes and brushes.
The person feels very tired and weak, gets tired quickly, and may have mood swings.
Acute appendicitis
Appendicitis is an acute disease of the abdominal cavity internal organs that definitely requires surgical intervention. The pain comes on suddenly, appearing in the area under the pit of the stomach and spreading throughout the entire abdominal area, often concentrating around the navel.
The pain becomes more intense, gradually concentrating on the right side of the body.
The temperature may be low, the heart beats quickly and unevenly, the tongue may be dry and painful. When the arms are lowered along the body, the pain on the right side of the body may become even stronger.
Hernia of the umbilical region
This disease manifests itself with severe pain in the navel area. The person suffers from vomiting, strong heartbeat, frequent gases, the stomach is bloated, there may be constipation.
A painful lump can be felt in the abdominal area when pressed with fingers. This lump cannot be pushed back in, and it hurts even more when pressed.
If the lump in the abdominal area can be retracted, then it is a reducible hernia. If it cannot, then it is an incarcerated hernia, for which surgical treatment methods should be used.
If you try to reduce the hernia yourself, it can be dangerous because of the risk of pinching the intestine even more and damaging it. And if you don’t call an ambulance in time, then the person may face a fatal outcome due to necrosis of the intestinal tissue.

Small intestinal cancer
The initial stage of this disease is the manifestation of a painful symptom in the navel area and the entire abdomen. And the person is also bothered by such symptoms as vomiting, the stomach swells, the intestines seem to swell too, and the entire area of its passage hurts, especially severe pain is felt around the navel. The person may begin to lose weight sharply and lose appetite.
These signs may indicate small intestine cancer and prompt immediate medical attention.
Diverticulitis of the small intestine
This disease can be diagnosed primarily by a protrusion in the abdominal area, in particular, the navel. These protrusions - diverticula - look like an inflated sac measuring approximately three centimeters in diameter, and in rare cases up to 15 centimeters (and the minimum size can be from 3 mm). The intestinal mucosa protrudes through the intestinal muscles. Diverticula can affect the intestines in any place. These places are very painful and radiate to the left side of the abdomen. In addition to visible signs, the temperature may also rise - to approximately 38 degrees.
Migraine in abdominal form
This form of headache and belly button pain can affect even children aged 12-13 years – migraine has no age. The stomach hurts very much with this form of migraine, the pain is especially sharp in the belly button area. In addition to pain around the belly button, a person also has nausea, diarrhea, the skin becomes pale and dry, and vomiting may occur.
Pain during abdominal migraine lasts from 30-40 minutes to several days.
Abdominal migraine can be recognized by the simultaneous localization of pain in the head and abdomen. The pains can also alternate.
Those at risk for abdominal migraine may include adolescents, people under stress, patients with a hereditary predisposition to migraines, and those with increased blood flow in the abdominal aorta.
Intestinal volvulus (small intestine)
This disease is also called intestinal obstruction. It begins with acute pain around the navel. A person has intestinal obstruction, which causes incredible pain in the abdominal area. The pain can be cutting and starts from inside the abdominal cavity, as well as in the prevertebral area. The pain can be constant or resemble contractions.
Most of the pain is localized to the right of the abdomen and in the area around the navel.
The condition is aggravated by vomiting, nausea, delayed bowel movements, and intestinal gases.
In the initial stage, volvulus of the small intestine is characterized at first by sharp, constant pain, which then becomes similar to contractions.
The pain around the navel becomes more and more intense, and it is so great that a person can scream from unbearable pain.
The pain does not go away with a change in position, the person vomits. An ambulance must be called immediately to take the patient to the hospital.
Pain around the navel is a danger signal
Even if a person has pain in the navel area, this pain can be confused with symptoms of other diseases. After all, pain in the abdominal area can be a sign of at least 20-30 different diseases. And even a doctor cannot always accurately determine the cause of pain - diagnostics is difficult.
