Both adults and children love sweets, so the problem of abuse of such products is relevant for all ages. Regular consumption of a small amount of sugar is good for the body, as it maintains brain activity at a high level. Gluttony of sweets leads to serious intoxication of the body.
For example, a small chocolate bar contains the daily norm of glucose, but overeating chocolate will lead to a significant increase in blood sugar levels. This has a negative effect on the functioning of the endocrine system. When it enters the body, sugar is slowly absorbed into the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, which leads to disruption of the normal functioning of the digestive system. Against this background, stagnation occurs in the rectum, that is, constipation.

Overeating sweets, as well as other types of delicacies, can cause the following complications:
- Allergic reactions. Skin rashes appear, swelling of the hard and soft palate, esophagus, and larynx is also possible. Against this background, breathing becomes difficult, nausea and vomiting occur. If urticaria persists for a long period of time, you should seek medical help.
- Anaphylactic shock is a severe allergic reaction that develops within 40-60 minutes after excessive consumption of the product. The painful condition may manifest itself as paleness or hyperemia of the skin, cardiovascular disorders, asthmatic cough, cramps, abdominal pain, nausea, gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Quincke's edema is another allergic reaction that causes swelling of the skin and subcutaneous fat. The pathology occurs with swelling of the internal organs and the formation of dense, clearly defined areas of the skin. Most often, swelling forms on the face, in the area of the soft palate, larynx and genitals. It is accompanied by sharp pains in the abdomen, hoarse voice and cough, pale skin.
- Functional hypoglycemia – sugar poisoning disrupts the normal functioning of the circulatory system. The glucose level drops sharply, causing hypoxia, i.e. oxygen starvation. Against this background, the release of growth hormone slows down and there is a risk of developing diabetes.

Many manufacturers add various flavor enhancers, aromatic fragrances and other artificial components to sweets, the content of which in the finished product very often exceeds the permissible norms. Excessive consumption of such products leads to poisoning of the body with harmful substances.
Excess glucose when overeating sweets leaves a negative imprint on the appearance. First of all, body weight changes, fat deposits and cellulite appear. Excess sugar in the intestines triggers active reproduction of pathogenic microflora, which provokes the appearance of acne on the face and body and candidiasis of the mucous membranes.
Overeating honey
A useful beekeeping product with a sweet taste and unusual aroma, used in the treatment of many diseases is honey. Its properties depend on the plants from which the bees collect nectar. Therefore, it is very important to choose honey correctly to minimize the risk of poisoning. Excessive consumption of natural sweets is no less dangerous.
Symptoms of honey abuse:
- Elevated body temperature.
- Allergic rashes on the skin.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Muscle and joint pain.
- Migraine with throbbing pain in the temples.
- General weakness and fainting.
- Dilated pupils.
- Digestive disorders.
- Confusion of consciousness.
- Impaired coordination.
Signs of overeating develop if a person eats more than 150 g of honey products at one time. The risk of intoxication increases significantly when consuming poisonous or "drunk" honey. In this case, it is enough to eat 20 g of the product to overdose. Honey collected in areas where poisonous plants grow is dangerous. Such a product contains andromedotoxin, which does not dissolve in the honey mass and causes life-threatening symptoms.
When the first signs of overdose appear, it is necessary to take adsorbents (activated carbon), drink water with salt and soda. You should also do a cleansing enema or drink a laxative. Antihistamines are recommended to minimize allergic reactions.
Poisoning is also possible when consuming good honey, when a person has allergic reactions to the product. In this case, the delicacy causes severe intoxication of the body. Heating honey and its further consumption is also dangerous. In especially severe cases, poisoning leads to death.
Overeating flour
Fragrant bread, buns, pies and other baked goods are products that are hard to resist. They contain many components, the main one being flour. Excessive consumption of flour products has a negative impact on the state of the figure, causing weight gain. Overeating is also dangerous due to poisoning of the body, which is characterized by the following symptoms:
- Sharp pain in the abdomen.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Increased body temperature.
- Constipation.
- Stomach upset.
Of course, no one has died from such symptoms, but excessive consumption of low-quality flour products can cause more serious problems for the body. Overeating too hot baked goods leads to ulcerative lesions of the stomach and volvulus of the intestines.
Eating moldy baked goods and bread is a trigger for allergic reactions and intoxication of the body. Toxic mold fungi can cause oncological processes. Regular consumption of spoiled flour products leads to pathological changes in the kidneys and liver.
