Typically, when a measles virus laryngitis measles affects all the respiratory tree, so that the larynx disease is only a special case of a general inflammation in the upper and lower respiratory tract.

Pathological anatomy. In the initial stage, there is an enanthema of the laryngeal mucosa, and with the appearance of exanthema (skin rashes typical for measles, disseminated spots appear on the mucous membrane, after which there remain small surface erosions covered with pseudomembranous plaque, the origin of which is due to secondary infection.

Symptoms and clinical course of laryngitis in measles. Subjective and objective manifestations of measles laryngitis are limited to catarrhal phenomena. With ulceration and pseudomembranous plaque, hoarseness appears, barking painful cough, mucopurulent sputum. However, the clinical course and evolution of the disease proceed favorably and only in rare cases can complications such as edema, croup and phlegmon of the larynx occur.

Diagnosis is facilitated by the presence of measles-specific symptoms.

Treatment of measles laryngitis is similar to that used for typhoid laryngitis. In addition, anti-measles vaccines, serums, phages, vitamins and vitamin-like agents (Retinol, Retinola palmitate), antiviral agents (Inosine pranobex, Isoprinosine, Ribavirin, Flacoside) are used.
