Simple measures to prevent flu at home
- Do not come into contact with the sick person or visit him wearing a mask.
- Do not approach the patient closer than 2 meters, or approach him wearing a mask.
- Wash your hands with soap after each visit to the patient, cleaning his room, and visiting the toilet.
- Be sure to cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing.
- Use disposable napkins or handkerchiefs.
- Keep the child away from the sick person.
- Constantly ventilate the patient's room. In the cold season, it is enough to do this up to 4 times a day for a quarter of an hour. During this time, the patient must be taken out of the room.
- The air temperature in the room of a person with flu should not be higher than 20 degrees Celsius, but it should not be lower either.
- Every day, clean the patient’s room and the entire house with disinfectants.
- Get enough sleep and add vitamins to your diet to boost your immunity.
The most important thing is not to go to work when you are sick. Your patriotism will only harm you and those around you. After you feel the first signs of illness, you need to stay home for a week from the day of illness. And, of course, follow the recommendations written above. Especially those related to personal hygiene.
If your doctor has prescribed you medications - antiviral drugs that destroy flu viruses, or antibacterial drugs if the flu is accompanied by another serious illness, such as pneumonia, do not neglect these instructions. Do not stop taking medications even if you feel much better. You need to take the full course to finish off the enemy - viruses and pathogenic bacteria, otherwise the flu may return with more serious complications.
Peculiarities of caring for a patient with flu
It should not be looked after by a pregnant woman or a child.
It is desirable that only one person from the family cares for the patient.
It is essential to provide separate dishes and hygiene items – soap, towel, clothes – for a person with the flu.
All family members should not neglect wearing medical masks and washing hands.
It is essential to ensure that all family members change their medical masks every three hours, otherwise the germs on them can infect a healthy person. If you use a mask correctly, clinical studies show that you can reduce the risk of contracting flu viruses by 80%.
In addition to precautions against flu, it is possible and necessary to use chemoprophylaxis in the fight against it. First of all, these are such anti-flu drugs as arbidol, alfaron, grippferon and ointments with interferon in the composition. Alfaron and grippferon are drops that help a person cope with a runny nose during flu and protect the nasal passages from viruses.
To prevent influenza, as well as to cope with its first symptoms, such drugs as kagocel, cycloferon and amixin are used - these are drugs based on interferon inducers.
Phytotherapy as a preventive measure against influenza
There is another good way to protect yourself from the flu or reduce its negative impact on the body. These are herbal remedies. They effectively fight against flu viruses and speed up the recovery process if the flu has already taken hold of the body. Few people know, but even in Ancient Greece, doctors used lemon, honey and cloves as a cure for the flu.
What means should be used to prevent influenza?
First of all, these are the famous garlic and onion. Despite their apparent simplicity, these are really effective remedies for flu. They contain special substances – phytoncides, which fight flu and help a person recover faster.
- Mint is a great inhalation remedy. In addition to the fact that mint destroys viruses, it also tastes good.
- Rosehip drinks are an excellent immune stimulant. Rosehips contain many useful substances that help a person cope with the flu and its symptoms. Only it is advisable to brew it not with boiling water, but with water at a temperature of 80 degrees. This will destroy less of the vitamins contained in rosehips.
- Sea buckthorn is an excellent remedy for both wound healing and for giving the body an increased dose of vitamins. Sea buckthorn can be brewed into tea, and it is an excellent remedy for the flu.
