Eyelid hemangioma is a common pathology. It is characterized by early occurrence and rapid growth. Eyelid hemangioma causes astigmatism (the strong axis is located at an angle of 90 degrees, in relation to the tumor). Over time, as a rule, spontaneous improvement occurs.
- Surgery is usually not indicated until a clear demarcation line has formed.
- Improvement in the condition may be noted with general or local use of prolonged-release steroid drugs.
- After spontaneous reduction in the size of the neoplasm, surgical treatment is recommended to eliminate residual changes in the skin.
- Laser correction of superficial skin defects gives good results.
- The main cause of vision loss is amblyopia. In this regard, occlusion is a mandatory component of treatment.
- If necessary, appropriate optical correction is prescribed.

Scheme of local application of steroid injections for hemangiomas
- 4 mg triamcinolone and/or 40 mg depomedrone.
- The needle is inserted deeply into the hemangioma tissue.
- Pull back the syringe plunger to ensure that the vessel is not damaged.
- The drug is injected into the hemangioma tissue very slowly and the needle is slowly removed after the injection is complete.
- The distribution of the drug is monitored by looking at the white lines on the skin that appear when a depot of the drug is formed and persists for many months.
- A repeat injection may be given after 3-6 weeks.
- If there is no clinical improvement, only two courses of injections are used.
- Positive dynamics is an indication for repeating the course of treatment after the disappearance of traces on the skin from previous injections.
