In contrast to the symptoms of fracture of alveolar processes in adults, fractures of the alveolar process in children in children are accompanied by more significant ruptures, detachment of the mucosa and swelling of the adjacent soft tissues. In addition, tooth rudiments are often damaged, which inevitably become infected with the microflora of the oral cavity. This is explained by the fact that the fracture line passes above the level of the tips of the roots of the teeth, at the location of the tooth rudiments, which are traumatized by bone fragments as well as by the roots of the teeth, which often break with the alveolar bone. Sometimes, follicles of permanent teeth are separated along with the process. As a result of displacement, they may die, when they are exposed, premature dentition is observed.
The alveolar process can come off together with soft tissues, but sometimes, on the contrary, it is held by them.
The displacement of the fractured process leads to abnormal mobility of the fragments and malocclusion.
Treatment of a fracture of the alveolar process in children
Treatment of the fracture of the alveolar process in children involves the correction of the fragment of the alveolar process, the application of seams to ruptures of the mucous membrane, the fixation of teeth on the fragments to a steel or aluminum wire tire. If it is not possible to use a wire bar because of the small size of the crowns, a quick-hardening plastic or a bus made in the laboratory is used.
