Suppositories for vaginal fungal infection are not only a popular but also an effective medicine that helps cure the disease in a short time. The action of suppositories is due to the deep penetration of active components into the mucous membrane. This destroys the pathogen, stops the inflammatory process and reduces unpleasant symptoms.

Today, there is a wide range of antifungal agents for local use in gynecology. Suppositories are effective both for severe forms of candidiasis and for chronic thrush as part of complex therapy. Suppositories should be selected by a doctor, based on the results of tests and bacterial cultures that show the sensitivity of the fungus to specific drugs. Independent, uncontrolled use leads to the development of chronic candidiasis and disruption of the vaginal microflora.

Rules for using suppositories:

Both partners must undergo treatment, since very often the man has no symptoms and is a carrier of the fungal infection. During the treatment, you should abstain from sexual intercourse or use condoms.

  • The suppositories must be inserted deep into the vagina. The procedure is best done before bedtime for effective absorption of the active components.
  • Suppositories are contraindicated during menstruation, except for Iodoxide, Betadine, Sertaconazole and Zalain. For quick treatment, a single use of such drugs is suitable - Zalain and Lomexin. A three-day course - Livarol, Pimafucin, Gino-Pevaryl. Long-term treatment 5-14 days - Clotrimazole, Nystatin, Polijanks, Terzhinan, Macmiror, Ginezol, Irunin.
  • During therapy, it is not recommended to wear tight or synthetic underwear. It is necessary to carefully follow all the rules of intimate hygiene, do not use scented pads, intimate hygiene liquids and other toiletries that worsen the condition.

Since different suppositories contain different active ingredients, they differ in effectiveness, contraindications, side effects and periods of use.

Popular and effective suppositories for thrush:

  • Clotrimazole is an inexpensive suppository that kills not only fungal infections, but also many other harmful microorganisms. Some women experience allergic reactions after using these suppositories. Therefore, it is better to consult a doctor before using them.
  • Fluconazole – helps to cope with the chronic form of the disease. The course takes 6-7 days. In rare cases, side effects occur: dizziness, intestinal disorders, dermatological reactions.
  • Nystatin – eliminates fungal infection, but is not sensitive to bacteria and viruses. Used for chronic candidiasis. Contraindicated in liver disease and pancreatitis.
  • Ketoconazole - is used to treat not only thrush, but also other infectious lesions. Very often causes side effects - dizziness, nausea, headaches. Contraindicated for use longer than five days and during pregnancy.
  • Pimafucin is allowed during pregnancy, as it is not dangerous for the health of the mother and the unborn child. The active substances are not absorbed into the systemic bloodstream, which makes the medication safe to use.

Treatment of thrush with ointments

Elimination of yeast fungal infection with ointments is not only an effective, but also a safe method of therapy, which has a minimum of contraindications. The ointment is included in the group of drugs of local action, the active components of which, after application to the skin or mucous membrane, destroy the fungus that provokes the disease. The active substances do not penetrate into the systemic bloodstream, so they are safe for use. The drug can be used as a separate medication, as well as in complex therapy of affected external genitalia, vagina, skin and mucous membranes.

As a rule, the ointment is prescribed during pregnancy and lactation, for pediatric patients, with a mild form of the disease and liver damage. Local medications are less toxic, unlike capsules and tablets.

Benefits of the ointment:

  • If it is chosen correctly, it quickly produces a therapeutic effect.
  • Minimal side effects compared to other forms of medication.
  • Can be used by patients of any gender and age.
  • It has an acceptable cost and is easy to use.

Flaws:

  • Stains and greasy marks may remain on the laundry.
  • It is impossible to treat deep lesions (vagina, uterine appendages).
  • As a rule, ointments contain one active substance, while suppositories or tablets contain two or more.

The ointment is selected by the attending physician, focusing on the localization of the infectious focus and the neglect of the process. It will be more effective in the early stages of the disease, if the symptoms are more than five days, then other dosage forms are used for therapy. Highly effective treatment is considered to be procedures when the ointment in a tampon is inserted into the vagina. Most often, patients are prescribed the following drugs: Clotrimazole, Candide, Nystatin, Fluconazole, Nizoral, Pimafucin and others.

Cream for the treatment of thrush

The cream for eliminating fungal infection does not require oral administration, so it allows you to get rid of unpleasant symptoms in a short time and with minimal side effects. The use of any type of cream should be prescribed by a doctor depending on the course of the disease. The cream is a medicine that is absorbed into the systemic bloodstream and has a therapeutic effect on the entire body. Most often, thrush is eliminated with the help of Clotrimazole or Pimafucin cream.

  1. Clotrimazole is an antifungal cream that effectively eliminates itching, redness and burning. After application, it penetrates the blood and destroys the fungus. In small quantities, it can block the spread of infection, but therapeutic doses completely kill the fungus. It is recommended to use at least twice a day, gently rubbing into the affected areas. During therapy, sexual intercourse is not recommended, and the partner must also undergo treatment. It is prohibited in the first trimester of pregnancy; in rare cases, allergic reactions on the skin may occur.
  2. Pimafucin is a medicine with the active ingredient natamycin. It is an antibiotic with a fungicidal effect. With regular use, the symptoms of thrush disappear after three days, and after a full course, the test for yeast fungus gives a negative result. It can be used no more than twice a day. At the same time, long-term use does not cause side effects or addiction. The course of treatment should last no more than 7 days, and both partners should use the drug.

Gels for the treatment of thrush

Another remedy for treating candidiasis is gels, that is, products for local use. The most common drug in this category is Clotrimazole 1% with a broad spectrum of antifungal action. Another effective drug is Antifungol gel with the active substance clotrimazole. It affects the genitals affected by the infection, eliminating itching and burning. Antibacterial gel against thrush, which consists of Dead Sea minerals, aloe vera and menthol, is perfect, although this remedy is more related to herbal preparations.

To eliminate candidiasis in women, you can use vaginal Intim-gel. But most often they resort to therapy with Metronidazole - an antiprotozoal and antimicrobial drug. This gel copes not only with thrush, but also with vaginosis of various etiologies. Lacta-gel is effective in combination with antibiotics for a lasting result.

Candinorm

Candinorm is a gel with anti-candidal action. It has a suppressive effect on yeast fungi, disrupts the integrity of their membrane, has antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal activity. Maintains vaginal acidity at a normal level, promotes the growth of physiological microflora and stimulates the immune system. The drug is effective for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes. Eliminates itching, burning, irritation and redness in the intimate area.

Candinorm consists of two gels, which are intended for external and intravaginal use:

  • A 30 ml tube should be applied to intimate areas during hygiene procedures, but not more than 1-2 times a day. This gel eliminates pathological discharge and other unpleasant symptoms, softens the mucous membrane, and has a fungicidal effect. One tube is designed for 6 applications, i.e. one course of treatment.
  • A 6 ml tube is used intravaginally. The gel should be applied once a day, preferably before bedtime. It is contraindicated to use during menstruation. A short-term burning sensation is possible, which occurs due to the condition of the vaginal mucosa affected by a fungal infection. The medicine restores microflora.

Active ingredients: inulin 0.1%, caprylic acid 1.2%, thymol 0.05%, saponin 1%, aloin 1% and aloe emodin 1%. Has no contraindications and does not cause side effects, is allowed during pregnancy.
