The diagnosis of dyspepsia is based on anamnestic data, which allows one to form an idea of the nature and mode of nutrition; assessment of clinical signs of the disease, results of macro- and microscopic examination of feces. At the same time, the data of X-ray and endoscopic methods are of little information. To a certain extent, the determination of enzymes in the duodeno-jejunal contents and feces can help, and in advanced cases - tests for the absorption of various substances and the study of parietal digestion.

Alimentary dyspepsia should be differentiated from diseases that occur with a syndrome of impaired digestion (atrophic gastritis, chronic enteritis, chronic pancreatitis with exocrine insufficiency, etc.). The connection of the disease with alimentary errors and the exclusion of functional and morphological changes in other digestive organs, as well as the elimination of manifestations of intestinal dyspepsia after normalization of nutrition help to make a correct diagnosis.
