Cleaning teeth with baking soda
Cleaning of teeth with baking soda at home is carried out with the help of a saturated solution of soda or in its pure form (powdery). A saturated solution of soda is considered ready for use when a subsequent batch of soda is no longer soluble in water. To clean teeth with this solution, a toothbrush, a cotton wool or gauze swab that fits in the prepared solution and brushing the teeth with gentle movements is suitable.
In the case where soda is used in a powdered form, the brush or gauze used for cleaning the teeth should be soaked in water. Brush the teeth between the teeth from the outside and inside, especially paying attention to the molars (more deeply located), because there is the most accumulated plaque. Such brushing of teeth:
- tooth-preserving, because it neutralizes all acid, located in the interdental spaces and removes plaque,
- bleaching, tk. Interdental spaces are cleaned.
In order to eliminate the not very pleasant taste of soda, it can be mixed with toothpaste.
How does soda work? Soda is a weak alkali, and a plaque on the teeth has in its composition acid and alkali is simply necessary to neutralize this acid. Also, solid grains of soda, due to their abrasive properties, mechanically clean the surface of the tooth plaque together with a small layer of enamel. Due to this, the effect of cleaning and lightening of the teeth is achieved. But you should know that some people have a yellowish shade of teeth from nature, and to achieve whiteness with soda, frequent use is not necessary.
The use of soda for cleaning teeth is contraindicated:
- in cases of weak and sensitive tooth enamel to chemical and thermal stimuli,
- children,
- with allergic reactions to soda.
Thus, the reasonable use of soda for cleaning your teeth will not only provide you with a beautiful smile, but also prevent undesirable consequences from using soda.
