In this article, we would like to draw your attention to the causes, symptoms and methods of treating cherry allergies.

Each person's body is individual, so sometimes even the healthiest products can cause malaise, rash, chills, fever and many other symptoms from the body. Such a reaction is usually called an allergy. In general, an allergy is a disease that occurs as a result of the effect on a sensitive organism of a certain component, which can be included in some product of the environment.

Plant pollen, food, medicines, bird feathers, animal hair, etc. can be allergens for a vulnerable organism. Usually, with a single contact of the organism with a suspected allergen, there may not be any reaction. But the next time, the organism's reaction to the allergen is expressed quite clearly.

Allergies often develop due to abnormalities in the functioning of the immune system, which can be caused by stress, illness, or some other factor that has a negative impact on the body's immune system.

An allergic reaction to a food product usually does not appear immediately, but after some time - 10-70 hours, which can be accompanied not only by a rash on the skin, but also by digestive system disorders, sudden mood swings, headaches, and insomnia. A distinctive feature of an allergy to a food product is that the allergic reaction can manifest itself quite imperceptibly - in a hidden or simply smoothed-out form.

Unfortunately, allergens are often tasty and healthy foods such as nuts, tomatoes, cherries, strawberries, milk, chocolate and many others.

Causes of Cherry Allergy

In general, allergy to cherries is quite rare, since this berry belongs to a number of products with low allergenic properties. However, the cause of allergy to cherries can be hereditary predisposition, weakened immune system of the body, improper metabolism. It is impossible not to mention such a reason for the development of allergies as environmental pollution. The soil of the earth is overflowing with various unnatural fertilizers; factory emissions settle on our trees; drinking water is practically devoid of any useful substances. Our food products contain many chemical additives, flavor enhancers and various substances that help products stay fresh for a long time. All this has a very negative effect on our health, so the number of people suffering from allergies to food products is growing every day.

Symptoms of cherry allergy

Usually, an allergy to a food product (in our case, to cherries) provokes a malfunction of the gastrointestinal tract, which manifests itself as an upset stomach. The reaction to the allergen can manifest itself immediately after eating cherries or after some time. The upset can be accompanied by nausea and an unpleasant feeling in the stomach, sometimes, in more serious cases, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps.

Allergy to cherries also causes symptoms that are often confused with a respiratory disease. In this case, the following reaction of the body may be observed: nasal congestion, which causes difficulty breathing, runny nose, swelling of the throat, fever. It is important to remember that the sooner you contact an experienced specialist, the faster you will make a diagnosis and find out the cause of the ailment, since a person may not always realize that the cause of a weakened body is an allergy. And a complication of an allergy can lead to such a result as anaphylactic shock.

Sometimes an allergic reaction to the berry can provoke the development of an inflammatory process, which causes itching, burning and a slight tingling in the throat. Then the inflammation spreads to the face and, in particular, to the eyes, accompanied by itching and discomfort.

Diagnosis of cherry allergy

As already mentioned above, it is not possible to recognize an allergy to cherries right away, since some symptoms may indicate food poisoning, while other allergy symptoms may indicate a respiratory disease. An experienced doctor will be able to diagnose an allergy to cherries after conducting a preliminary examination. It should be noted that allergy symptoms often appear within two hours, so if you notice any discomfort after eating the product, you should inform your doctor about it.

Today, there are several ways to identify an allergy to a food product. For example, a doctor often refers a patient to take a blood test for allergies, the analysis of which helps to identify the allergen, if any.

The skin test for allergies is no longer a new method. If you have a rash or itching on your skin, it is best to consult a dermatologist or allergist who will conduct this diagnostics. The doctor usually prescribes a skin test procedure and sends you for a blood test, since these two methods complement each other well and allow you to more accurately determine both the cause of the ailment and identify the allergen.

Treatment and prevention of cherry allergy

To alleviate and eliminate the effects of allergies, it is good to take activated charcoal three times a day. Antihistamines quickly eliminate the first allergic symptoms. If you have skin itching, it can be eliminated with an anti-allergy cream.

Allergies can be treated with these simple methods:

  • Powdered eggshells are taken 3 grams after meals for 2-3 weeks. This method can be supplemented with an herbal infusion, which includes: succession, dry laurel leaves, calendula flowers and calamus root. All this is poured with boiling water and, after about 6 hours, the infusion is filtered, after which apple cider vinegar (20 ml) and a tablespoon of dark honey are added. The infusion is taken three times a day, 1/3 cup half an hour before meals.
  • The crushed nettle is poured with a glass of boiling water and left overnight, after which the decoction is filtered in the morning. About a quarter of a glass of this drink should be consumed half an hour before meals. The course of treatment lasts a week.
  • An infusion of the following herbs will help relieve itching and burning: chamomile, sage and succession. Each ingredient should be about a tablespoon. Then pour 0.5 liters of boiling water over the herbal mixture. After 2 hours, strain the infusion. Apply a compress with this infusion to areas where there is itching and burning on the skin.

Prevention of allergy to cherries, of course, is the complete exclusion of cherries and products containing this berry from the diet. Inform your family, friends and colleagues, as their awareness will help you in the future to avoid accidentally eating a berry that has a negative effect on your body.
