Identification of the anal fissure does not cause difficulty. The idea of its existence suggests an anamnesis and characteristic complaints. The diagnosis becomes clear when examining the anus. When diluting the buttocks, a crack or a watchtower at its outer edge is detected. If the fissure of the anus is not visible on examination, then the finger examination of the rectum should be performed gently. At the same time on the affected wall of the anal canal, compaction will be determined. Rectoromanoscopy in the acute period because of severe pain and spasm of the sphincter should not be carried out. In cases where it is necessary to differentiate the anal fissure from other diseases, the study can be carried out after a preliminary injection under the crack 4-5 ml of 1% solution of novocaine.
Differential diagnosis of anal fissure is carried out with cocci, anal form of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis.
