Mosquito allergy is the most unpleasant summer drawback. And those who do not like summer have simply never had a real vacation. After all, summer is a period of vacations, holidays, beaches, ice cream, swimming, sunbathing and all other types of recreation in general. Everything around is so enticing - the gentle sun, green trees, the murmur of the local river and the quiet buzzing of insects. Aren't these ideal conditions for gathering a large group and going out into nature? But for those of us who have an allergy to mosquitoes, summer is a constant fight with insects.

Causes of Mosquito Allergy

There are two possible causes of mosquito allergy. The first is a common reaction to an insect bite, in our case, a mosquito. Let's get this straight. The unpleasant reaction to mosquito bites that we all know is caused by substances contained in mosquito saliva. Getting into soft tissue, these substances irritate the outer skin, which in turn causes redness of the bite area and itching. The second cause of mosquito allergy is hypersensitivity to such irritants, which is strictly individual for everyone. Children and people with a weak immune system are most prone to hypersensitivity. In turn, our favorite heredity plays a significant role here. After all, if your parents are "allergic", then you, alas, cannot avoid a similar fate.

Allergy to mosquito bites

Most people are used to the fact that after an insect bite, a red pimple appears, which will itch for several days and, if left untouched, will go away on its own. Yes, of course, these symptoms are unpleasant, but what can you do. It is more difficult for those for whom one mosquito bite is equivalent to weeks of treatment for the consequences of an allergy.

Mosquito Allergy Symptoms

Mosquito allergy symptoms can manifest themselves in different ways. Redness, hives, itching, swelling, high blood pressure, nausea, fever, suffocation - this is the first thing you should pay attention to when you feel worse. If you have not noticed such symptoms before, due to contact with mosquitoes - you can safely consider yourself among the majority of lucky ones. Those who have had such cases, be fully armed. If after an evening walk near a lake or in the forest, you notice at least one of these symptoms, do not ignore them under any circumstances.

Mosquito bite allergy in children

Things are more complicated with allergies to mosquito bites in children. The immune system of an adult improves and strengthens over the years. Children's immunity is just beginning to "get on its feet" and take its first steps. And with the current ecology and health of moms and dads - it is necessary to help it with this from the first days. Allergies to mosquito bites in children manifest themselves faster and "more vividly" than in adults. Already 2-3 hours after the bite, you can notice bluish blisters at the site of the bite, or excessive redness, more than 1 cm in diameter. If you notice drowsiness, loss of appetite, weakness, apathy in your baby - call a doctor! After all, in addition to allergic manifestations, infectious diseases are possible. Children are not as restrained as adults, and can easily scratch itchy pimples and bring an infection into the wounds. And this, in turn, is a completely different story.

Diagnosis of mosquito allergy

An immunologist or allergist can diagnose an allergy to mosquito bites. An allergy to mosquito bites can only get worse with age and exposure to external factors (mainly the environment) if it is not treated correctly and in time. The process of any allergic reaction is directly related to the immune system, so it is not treated. But you should not immediately put an end to summer walks and swimming in the lake. The symptoms of an allergy to mosquitoes can be treated for a fairly long time. And enjoy fresh air and relaxation with friends without fear of swelling and suffocation. But first, carefully read the following:

  1. Together with your doctor, you should make a list of first aid medications in case of mosquito bites and allergies.
  2. Always carry these medications and an allergy passport with you. This is a document that contains your passport details and the conclusion of an allergist.
  3. Avoid places with large concentrations of mosquitoes. Near water bodies, in dense forests.

Mosquito Allergy Treatment

You can treat mosquito allergy only after visiting the right doctor. You yourself understand that only a professional can accurately determine the medications and doses prescribed for you. If the allergy to mosquito bites manifests itself in a mild form (redness, itching), you can use improvised means - an ointment with a soothing effect, for example, "Rescuer", "Vietnamese Star", "Fenistil gel". It is enough to lubricate the bite site several times a day.

How to prevent mosquito allergy?

Forewarned is forearmed. Do not underestimate the meaning of this phrase. The better you prepare for the summer season, the easier it will be for you to endure its surprises. Prevention of mosquito allergies will help you significantly reduce the risk of anaphylaxis and other side effects. An immunologist can recommend you antihistamines. This can be "Diazolin", "Tavegil" in tablet form, or "Suprastin". A few weeks before the summer, start taking the prescribed medications, always carry your mini-first aid kit with you. It should contain anti-shock drugs - epinephrine, adrenaline.

An allergy to mosquito bites is always unpleasant and painful. But if you follow simple rules – prevention, protection, treatment – you can avoid the sad consequences of insect bites. Then your summer will always be sunny and pleasant.
