The veterinary service carries out identification, timely diagnosis, slaughter of sick animals, epizootological examination of the outbreak, disinfection of corpses, destruction of meat, hides, wool of dead animals, current and final disinfection in the outbreak, develops measures aimed at improving livestock, pastures, , as well as routine immunization with live anthrax vaccine of farm animals in disadvantaged areas. The complex of health measures includes:

  • control over observance of general sanitary norms in the procurement, storage, transportation and processing of raw materials of animal origin;
  • Vaccine prophylaxis with live spore dry capsule vaccine - twice planned (at sites unfavorable for the Siberian anthrax) and unscheduled (according to epidemiological indications followed by revaccination annually);
  • timely diagnosis, hospitalization and treatment of patients;
  • epidemiological surveys of the outbreak, current and final disinfection (4% chloramine);
  • It is forbidden to posthumously open the patients because of the possibility of contagion.

Persons who come into contact with sick people or animals are injected with anti-STI immunoglobulin and antibacterial drugs for 5 days. Supervision of contact is conducted within 14 days. The vaccine against anthrax is also used .
