Diagnosis of mycoplasmosis (mycoplasmal infection)

The diagnosis is established on the basis of a gradual onset of the disease, a painful cough, a prolonged fever with minor intoxication and mild catarrhal symptoms, a sequential appearance of the symptoms of the bronchopulmonary system until the appearance of low-symptom (atypical) pneumonia, a certain increase in lymph nodes, and a prolonged course of the disease.

For laboratory confirmation, PCR and ELISA are used. Mycoplasmal infection is differentiated from ARVI, especially adenovirus etiology, and respiratory syncytial infection, as well as with ornithosis, Ku-fever and croupous pneumonia.

Treatment of mycoplasmosis (mycoplasmal infection)

In mild forms, the treatment of mycoplasmosis (mycoplasmal infection) is symptomatic. Assign inside ibuprofen syrup, paracetamol, antihistamines, a complex of vitamins, plentiful drink, hot foot baths, ozocerite boots, expectorant medicines, mucaltin, etc.

With moderate and especially severe forms of the disease, in addition to symptomatic agents, antibiotics (erythromycin, azithromycin, clindamycin, roxithromycin, josamycin (vilprafen), lincomycin, morphocycline, etc.) are prescribed in the age-appropriate dose. In young children, the antibiotic of the macrolide group in combination with probiotics (acipol, etc.) should be considered the antibiotic of choice. To increase the effect of antibiotic therapy, it is shown that vobenzima is included in the complex therapy. In especially severe cases with intoxication, intravenously inject detoxifying solutions, give diuretics.

With the inclusion of cycloferon in the therapy of mycoplasmal infection in its recurrent course, the fever period, intoxication, the duration of the catarrhal syndrome, and bronchial obstruction are reduced. Improvement of clinical symptoms occurs against a background of increased macrophage activity, activation of interferon synthesis, increase in the concentration of immunoglobulin A.

Prophylaxis of mycoplasmosis (mycoplasmal infection)

In the focus of infection, early isolation of the patient and conducting general preventive measures are important. Specific prophylaxis is not developed.
