Allergy to eggs is quite common and can occur virtually at any age. Allergens contained in eggs can cause allergic reactions of varying degrees of intensity. The most aggressive of them are ovomucoid and ovalbumin, less allergenic - lysozyme and conalbumin.
Much more often and more intensely, the allergy manifests itself in the protein of a raw egg, although with the use of cooked eggs it can also be quite strong. It should be noted that an egg allergy may be combined with an allergy to chicken meat, which is due to the presence of protein in it. Allergies to eggs can occur with the use of not only chicken eggs, but also turkey, goose, duck, etc. As a rule, such an allergy proceeds without complications, in very rare cases may cause anaphylactic shock. People suffering from this form of allergy are prohibited from eating eggs, as well as products containing their derivatives.
Allergy to chicken eggs
An allergy to chicken eggs is most often caused by ovalbumin and ovomucoid, less often by conalbumin and lysozyme. In this case, the ovomucoid also has resistance to heat treatment, as a result of which an allergic reaction can occur both on raw and on a cooked egg. Allergies to chicken eggs are very often accompanied by intolerance to chicken meat. A yolk of a hen's egg can also cause allergies, but the frequency of allergic reactions to it is about half as much compared to the protein. In addition, during thermal treatment, the main yolk allergen - vitellin - is neutralized. Chicken eggs have a wide enough scope for the production of various foods (sausages, sausages, mayonnaise, pasta, etc.), which is why patients suffering from this type of allergy should be especially careful when choosing products and carefully read their composition before use, To avoid getting into the body of eggs in any form.
Allergy to eggs in adults
Allergy to eggs in adults is much less common than in children, usually with excessive consumption, resulting in the release of histamine in the body and the disorders of the functioning of the respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular system, as well as allergic skin reaction. The body begins to itch, there are red spots, swelling. If the cause of egg allergy in adults is excessive consumption, you must sharply reduce their number in the diet or completely limit it.
