The cyst symptoms barely manifest, at least at the initial stage of development. Signs of the appearance of a tumor depend on its size, location, composition of the contents of the cavity, the structure of the walls of the neoplasm and on which cyst is congenital or acquired. Also, the appearance and mechanisms of its formation affect the manifestation of the symptoms, which may be as follows:

  • Cystic formation, which is a consequence of blocking the duct of the glandular organ. A tumor, called retention, is formed as a result of the accumulation of a secretory fluid that collects in a clogged channel.
  • A tumor that is formed as a result of necrosis of tissues, when connective tissue begins to grow around the necrotic area, and the process of fermentation of tissue provokes its liquefaction. Neoplasm of this type is called Ramolytic.
  • Cystic formation that appears as a result of a soft tissue injury.
  • Cystic formation, which is formed as a result of parasitic infection - echinococcosis. They are called parasitic.
  • Cystic formations, which grow during the period of intrauterine development, congenital malformations. They are called dysontogenetic.

Depending on the location of the cyst, the symptoms are different, neoplasms can appear in the ovaries, in the kidneys, in the brain, liver, tooth, pancreas and many other organs and tissues. The most common in clinical practice are the following cases of neoplasm:

Ovarian cyst

  • Cysts, the symptoms of which usually do not appear at the first stage of development. This neoplasm is determined most often with a routine examination using ultrasound scanning. Signs of cystic ovarian formation can be considered the following manifestations:
  • Periodic menstrual irregularity. Neoplasms provokes intensive production of androgens - male sex hormones, which not only "knock down" the cycle, but can affect the timbre of the voice, cause increased growth of hair on the body and face.
  • Heaviness in the lower abdomen, feeling of squeezing. The cyst can press on the ureter, the intestine.
  • Pain in the lower abdomen, as a rule, pain is stronger in the place where the cyst is located. If the cyst is accompanied by torsion of the legs, the pain becomes acute. A rupture of the neoplasm can cause a clinical picture similar to the "acute abdomen" symptomatology. If the cyst is localized to the right, the symptomatology is similar to the appendicitis clinic. If the neoplasm is located on the left, the signs may be similar to the symptoms of renal colic. Also, the symptoms of large cysts may be similar to the clinical picture of intestinal obstruction.
  • Pain in the early days of the menstrual cycle.
  • Discomfort during sexual intercourse.
  • Pain in the lower abdomen after intense physical activity.
  • Nausea, vomiting, accompanied by pain in the abdomen.
  • Resistant, non-sterile by the usual methods of infertility.
  • Pain in the vagina, discharge with blood.
  • An enlarged abdomen is a symptom of an aggravated tumor or ascites.
  • Acne, both in the puberty period, and in more mature age.

Cyst of pancreas

Cyst, the symptoms of which depend more on the size than on the location. Neoplasm can be in the body of the gland, in its tail or head. Cystic formations can be diagnosed as true, that is, those that contain the secretory fluid of the pancreas. Pseudocysts do not contain secretory cells inside, but they are also a pathology of this organ. Benign formations, as a rule, do not show clinical symptoms and are determined by ultrasound examination of the abdominal cavity organs for liver, gallbladder or kidney disease. The malignant cyst symptoms are more pronounced, as the formation affects nearby organs and tissues. All cystic formations of large size cause sensation of pressure, pain in the back or upper abdomen. Often, the cyst symptoms are similar to jaundice, as it disrupts the conduction of bile due to obstruction in the duct. The bile is thrown back, an excessive amount of bilirubin is produced, which is manifested by yellowing of the sclera of the eyes and skin. Infected large tumors can trigger a fever, acute pain and even sepsis.

Liver cyst

Quite a rare disease. The cyst symptoms does not show any specific symptoms, regardless of what category it refers to - true neoplasms or false ones. Indirect signs of the development of cystic liver formation can be the following:

  • Periodic pulling pain in the right upper abdomen (hypochondrium).
  • Pain in the solar plexus.
  • Noticeable asymmetry of the abdomen.
  • Palpable formation in the right side of the abdomen.

Kidney buds

Can be manifested aching pain in the back, if the size of the lesion is large. The cyst, the symptoms of which are not felt, is no less dangerous, since it is able to not only grow up over time, but also become a malignant entity. The main signs of kidney cysts are the following manifestations:

  • The lasting dull pain in the lumbar region, usually in the side, where the cyst is located.
  • Sharp jumps of blood pressure.
  • Pain in the lower back, accompanied by a violation of urination.
  • Concrements.
  • All signs similar to the symptoms of pyelonephritis - increased body temperature, nausea, vomiting, back pain, general weakness, pale skin.
  • Acute pain, a clinical picture of the "acute abdomen" - one of the signs of tumor rupture.

Cyst of the brain

Heavy disease, which is not always typical symptoms. Characteristic signs - severe pain, compression sensations, impaired coordination, unsteady gait. However, cystic formations do not show symptoms similar to those of the brain tumor. Cysts of the brain are divided into species that depend on the structure of the tissue that forms the neoplasm.

Liver cyst, the symptoms of which may not appear for several years, but in young people this kind of cystic education is often accompanied by ataxia (violation of coordination, gait), hemiparesis - half incomplete paralysis (one side of the body or part of the body is affected), headache and vomiting. They are also called arachnoid and are found most often in children in the puberty period or in young men; in women, liquor cysts are rarely diagnosed.

The colloid cyst, the symptoms of which appear more clearly. This can be a typical headache with a feeling of squeezing or strong pressure on the eyes, often what type of cyst causes seizures similar to epileptic ones, it is possible to vomit and change the person's mental status. However, most often the colloidal cyst, which is located in the region of the third cerebral ventricle, does not have specific signs in the early stages of development. This species is most often diagnosed in the elderly, when the neoplasm grows to large sizes, provoking hydrocephalus. Such a development of the disease can lead to a fatal outcome in the case of a strong mechanical pressure of the large cystic formation on the hypothalamus, where the center responsible for the heart rhythm is located.

Pineal cyst, the symptoms of which are often manifested in the last stage of neoplasm development. This tumor is localized in the pineal body of the brain (epiphysis), is rarely diagnosed - in 3-4% of all examined by magnetic resonance imaging. Signs of the pineal cyst:

  • It is difficult for a person to lift his eyes up, to roll them up, as the cyst provokes the development of hydrocephalitis.
  • Chronic drowsiness, weakness, lethargy.
  • Ataxia, disorientation in space.
  • Visual disturbances - double vision, blurred vision.

Cyst symptoms rarely shows specific, defining its appearance and characteristics. Most often the neoplasm proceeds asymptomatically, especially in the early stages of development. The signs that a cyst can manifest are often similar to the symptoms of other diseases, as a rule, these are diseases of those organs next to which the cyst is localized. That is why regular medical examination and the passage of planned studies are so important, during which it is possible to identify the cyst in time and begin its treatment.
