During pregnancy, women automatically "enter" a society with a high risk of developing kidney pathologies. Excessively high stresses on the whole organism and on each internal organ, in particular, leads to the fact that the development of pain syndromes and inflammatory processes in different areas occurs quite often. How do kidneys hurt in pregnancy? How to determine that it is the kidneys that hurt, not the muscles of the lower back? Or maybe pain caused by pressure on the joint of the bones in the small pelvis or the beginning of the divergence of the pubic symphysis? During pregnancy, there are always a lot of questions, especially frightening situations when the pain occurs in the lower back or lower abdomen. Consider situations where pain is associated with the kidneys.
How do they hurt the kidneys and what to do?
To maintain inner peace and not panic for any unforeseen sensation, pregnant women need frequent consultation with a gynecologist who "leads" her pregnancy. The doctor-gynecologist, including, can tell about how the kidneys are hurt, what symptoms, during pregnancy, should be taken with a special alarm, and on what, - do not focus on the special attention. Here are some of those symptoms that should cause suspicion of the onset of development of kidney problems:
- Desires for urination painful, frequent, with pain during urination and burning after it;
- The presence of flakes in the urine (in normal urine should be a homogeneous liquid without any visible impurities);
- Appearance of a reddish hue or veins of blood in the urine;
- Aching pains on the sides in the lumbar region, intensifying during coughing and with a slight tapping on the area of the location of the kidneys;
- The presence of significant edema with increased blood pressure;
- High body temperature, chills and intense fever, nausea, which results in severe vomiting, against a sharp pain in the lumbar region;
- Detection of the protein in the urine during general laboratory urinalysis.
Among the listed symptoms are those that are integral companions of any normally occurring pregnancy - swelling, lumbar pain and high blood pressure. Correlate them with the manifestation of kidney diseases, for the most pregnant woman, it is quite difficult. However, it is worth remembering that the pain in the lumbar region associated with muscle fatigue quickly passes after the comfortable position of the body is adopted.
Those who have faced kidney problems in their lives will not be hard pressed to tell how the kidneys are hurting - they are constantly ill. Pain in the lumbar region caused by inflammatory processes in the kidneys, whether it's pyelonephritis, urolithiasis or glomerulonephritis, are always permanent, with periods of amplification and fading. You can not find such a position of the body, in which pain could have subsided. This is a distinctive feature by which you can recognize muscular pain from the kidney. So if, at some stage of pregnancy, there is pain, and changing the position of the body does not bring relief, you need to immediately contact a gynecologist.
Treatment of kidney pain
Analyzing the question of how kidneys hurt, it is necessary, at least briefly, to mention the basic principles of treating renal diseases. Pregnancy refers to natural processes, for the female body, and therefore, mistaken for "natural" and all the problems associated with it. Many women are not afraid to experiment with self-medication, especially those that are classified as "moles".
Remember as an immutable law - any pain, discomfort in the lower back, in the abdomen, in the genital area, visible changes in the urine - a sign of immediate medical attention!
Pregnancy is a "matter", although natural, but always takes place individually. I would like to especially note the state of health of modern young women in childbirth who have constant disturbances from metabolic processes, low hemoglobin indices, multiple foci of chronic infections. If there is even the slightest deviation from the indicators of the standard of health, the development of pregnancy should be controlled especially.
If the question of how kidneys hurt, the pregnant woman can figure out herself, studying various sources of literature, then how to treat the kidneys, only a professional doctor should say. Depending on the pathological process, on the degree of kidney damage, treatment can be either in the hospital, under the supervision of medical staff, which is preferable for pregnant women, or at home, but with the permission of a gynecologist and with all its prescriptions and recommendations.
During pregnancy, treatment of all diseases is very difficult, and kidney especially. Therefore, the duration of pregnancy will directly affect the medical prescription of medicines. If this is the first trimester of pregnancy, then taking medications will be advisable only in the most serious cases, mainly the treatment will be based on the selection of the right diet, phyto and other sparing methods of therapeutic effect on the diseased organ.
If the inflammatory process in the kidneys develops sharply and proceeds violently, the use of antibacterial therapy is prescribed under strict control of the tests and the choice of antibiotic is very carefully selected, the most appropriate, effective in combating the kidney disease and minimally dangerous for the development of the fetus.
In any case, the treatment of diseases during pregnancy is always associated with a risk of harm to the future development of the child. That is why pregnant women are always called for a responsible attitude to their condition, especially in matters relating to the treatment of chronic or newly emerging diseases.

- use of cranberry juice and pure water as the main drink, in the total amount not less than two liters per day;
- as often as possible to relieve the bladder from its contents;
- use special underwear designed for pregnant women, do not wear too tight and squeezing the clothing elements. If it is not possible to use specialized clothes for pregnant women, then focus on natural fabrics, avoid synthetic underwear;
- taking water procedures only use the shower;
- conduct daily in the evenings unloading exercises that will relax the muscles of the back and relieve the burden on the kidneys. The most effective exercise is the stand on all fours. 10-15 minutes spent in this pose will give an excellent relaxing result. With this stand, the stomach, as the center of gravity, points downward, the muscles of the back relax, the load from the kidneys goes away.
Thus, we fully answered the question of how the kidneys are aching, examined the main directions in the treatment activities and even touched upon some types of preventive measures, including those aimed at reducing the painful sensations in the lumbar region. It remains to work for small, in time to apply the received theoretical knowledge in practice.
