Symptoms of herpesvirus conjunctivitis

Primary herpetic conjunctivitis often has a follicular character, which makes it difficult to distinguish it from adenovirus. Herpetic conjunctivitis is characterized by the following symptoms: one eye is affected, the edges of the eyelids, skin, and cornea are often involved in the pathological process.

Recurrence of herpes can occur, as follicular or vesicular-ulcerative conjunctivitis, but usually develops as a superficial or deep keratitis (stromal, ulcerative, keratouveitis).
