"Logical thinking can lead you from point A to point B, and imagination can take you wherever you want" - these are the words of A. Einstein.
No creative activity is possible without imagination - a mirror image of reality, which is accompanied by the creation of new representations and images for oneself. In the modern world, there has been a significant increase in interest in attempts to develop one's creative imagination, to activate thought processes. To stimulate the ability to imagine science, special exercises for the development of the imagination are developed and can be used in practice, which not only make our consciousness wider, but also contribute to the development of individuality, creativity, and, ultimately, personality.
Imagination is extremely important for every self-respecting person. It helps us set certain life goals, plan and dream, create. Virtually all cultural values that are known to mankind are the result of creative activity and imagination of writers, artists, poets and sculptors.
Thanks to the ability to imagine people can move both in the past and for many years to come, come up with new moves and make informed decisions, present the results of their future lives and activities. Mentally immersed in certain circumstances, people are able to lose their inner tension, relax. It is proved that a man with a considerably developed imagination and endowed with the necessary knowledge can control his respiratory processes, heart rate, temperature indices. By the way, inability to manage your imagination can also provoke the appearance of certain diseases: often these are digestive disorders or disorders in the work of the heart.
However, today we will not talk about this, but how we can develop our productive form of imagination, learn how to create new, exclusive and creative products. We will consider how to get your brain to transform and re-unite the particles of something known into a nonstandard and, at first glance, incompatible combination.
Exercises for the development of creative imagination
There are many techniques used by creative people to achieve greater success in their activities. Fantasy is given to us by nature, but not all are able to use it: it is so necessary, especially to those who try to self-actualize in any creative niche.
As a child, we often had to imagine or fantasize: it happened at the moments when my mother read us a fairy tale, when we sculpted figurines from plasticine, painted or played with dolls. What happened to us now? Is it possible to wake up your imagination again, develop your creative potential?
Of course you can. Moreover, it is necessary and even very useful. Thanks to simple exercises, we will try to stimulate the birth of new ideas in our brain, expand the range of thinking.
- I exercise. Find with your eyes any thing that would be approximately at a level of sight two or three meters from you. It can be a cup, a pencil, a notepad or a vase of flowers. Closing your eyes, imagine that you are in an empty bright and bright space: imagine this for five minutes. Then suddenly open your eyes, and five minutes look at the chosen subject. In no case do not think about the subject, the sight should, as it were, pass through the object. After that, again, shut your eyes and imagine the thing you selected, surrounded by bright and bright space, for five minutes. Such an exercise must be repeated up to eight times, performing it in a relaxed atmosphere, without undue tension.
- II exercise. In the evening, when you are already in bed, squint and imagine a letter of dark color on a bright white background. Do not let the letter out of your imagination for 2-3 minutes, even if it persistently tries to leave. The next evening, imagine another letter in the same way. Make sure that the letter ceases to float away from you, and is fixed in the brain as clearly as possible. When you learn to fix an image, try to do the same thing not with letters, but with words. Thanks to this exercise you can learn to concentrate attention, expand the boundaries of the imagination.
- III exercise. Close your eyes, imagine a small yellow square. Concentrate on it. Imagine that the square suddenly begins to grow, increase to infinite dimensions, making the entire space around itself the same yellow. Next time, imagine the same thing, but with some other color. When this exercise seems too easy for you, start to imagine that one color of a square is repainted in another, in the third. Then go back to the original color.
- IV exercise. Imagine a large and juicy apple. Start twisting it to the left or to the right, where you prefer. Imagine that it flew out of your brain and continues to fly around the apartment. Mentally stop the flight of the apple and place it opposite your eyes. Imagine yourself a worm and try to get inside the apple, examine it from the inside, feel it in it. Look at yourself from the viewpoint of the worm: you can consider not only your body, but also the surrounding you, the walls, the interior. However, remember that this should be just an outside view. Control yourself. If at some point you feel that you do not know the situation, immediately open your eyes.
- V exercise. Find a look at any nearby thing. Closing your eyes, remember and imagine the picture you just saw. Again opening your eyes, compare whether the pictures match. Alternately closing and opening your eyes, make sure that the imaginary and real object are as much as possible.
- VI Exercise. Well, you learned to represent objects with your eyes closed. Now it's time to do this without closing your eyes. For example, imagine that there is a brand new mobile phone near your computer that you so desired. Remember, imagine with your eyes open.
- VII exercise. Do you like to travel? Perfectly. Now we will do it mentally. Try to begin to mentally go to the next room. Then go to the street, sit in the car or on a bicycle, go to the nature, to the river, swim, etc.
Imagine any pictures, do it with pleasure. You can include light music. It is advisable that at this time you are not distracted.
Yes, and do not overdo it: excessive imagination can so immerse you in a world of illusions that social and domestic topics run the risk of falling into the background.
Exercises for the development of the writer's imagination
Visualizing objects, we develop our creative imagination, because it is very important for the writer to represent his characters, their fates, the further development of events.
If you want to engage in writing activities, but doubt the brightness of your imagination, do not worry: there are no people in the world who do not have imagination. Yes, there are people who simply do not use the gift given them by nature, and eventually it fades, but they are not hopeless either: with some effort, the imagination can still be restored. For this, it is necessary, first of all, the desire, willpower and knowledge of the corresponding exercises.
- Close your eyes and remember some piece of interior in your room. Do not slightly open your eyes, try to name the characteristic features of this object. When everything is listed, you can open your eyes and, still not looking at the selected subject, try to write down all of its signs on paper.

- Write out a certificate stating that you are the most lazy person in the world.
- Think up your story about the red cap.
- Imagine that you are an invisible person. Describe your actions and the reactions of others.
- Identify a few of your phobias, write about the most important of them.
- In a small article, try to describe the weather outside the window.
- Describe in 250 words, what would you do if it was raining now on the street.
- Think of a story, what would you cook for dinner to your most evil enemy.

- Think of step-by-step instructions on how to train a moth in accordance with traffic rules.
All tasks should be performed in writing, spending for each one as short as possible (this produces spontaneous thinking).
Such exercises train the imagination, and everything else necessary in the writing business (developing one's own style, composition, plot structure) requires studying at a professional level.
If you still feel that your imagination is not enough for creative activity, do not worry: constant exercises for the development of imagination will sooner or later allow you to reach a new, higher level.
