Where to make ultrasound of the small pelvis, as a rule, this question arises in people suffering from diseases of internal organs in this area or from painful sensations of unknown origin.
- If ultrasound of the pelvic organs is prescribed to women, then it is used to assess the condition of the fallopian tubes, ovaries, bladder, cervix. The procedure is also performed during pregnancy to monitor fetal development. USD helps to establish the causes of pain in the lower abdomen, menstrual irregularities and pathological bleeding. Using the vaginal sensor, it is possible to assess the state of the endometrium and the muscular walls of the uterus.
- Malignant ultrasound patients are prescribed to assess the condition of the prostate gland, bladder or seminal vesicles. In addition, during the study can be found pathology of the urinary tract and bladder tumor, kidney stones.
- Children study the pelvic organs for diagnosis of pain in the lower abdomen, with premature sexual development or its delay in girls. The study is necessary to detect neoplasms in the pelvic cavity, as well as to examine and identify abnormalities in the structure and functioning of organs and systems.
Scanning allows you to assess the movement, blood supply and structure of internal organs, that is, to identify violations in their functioning. To date, there are several types of ultrasound studies of pelvic organs:
- Transabdominal
With this diagnosis, the patient is placed on a special couch that can be tilted. On the skin, a special gel is applied to tightly connect the sensor to the skin. The doctor tightly presses the sensor to different points of the area of the body being examined. Due to this, ultrasonic waves penetrate into tissues from different angles and allow us to consider the necessary organ. As a rule, there are no unpleasant or painful sensations during the investigation. If the sensor touches the painful area, there may be a slight discomfort.
- Transvaginal
In its manner, ultrasound is similar to a gynecological examination, since it implies the introduction of a sensor into the vagina under the condition of an emptied bladder. The sensor is smaller than standard gynecological mirrors, so it does not cause unpleasant sensations. A condom is put on the sensor and a gel is applied, after which it is injected into the vagina for 4-5 cm. This allows us to evaluate the structure of the ovaries and uterus. Most often, this study is carried out because of pain in the lower abdomen of an unknown origin.
- Transrectal
This study is similar to rectal examination and is performed for men. The sensor is put on a condom, put the gel and injected into the rectum. During the procedure, the patient lies on his side with slightly bent legs in the knee joints. The duration of the uzi takes from 20 to 40 minutes.
