Hypoxia, or normobaric hypoxia, contributes to nonspecific stimulation of the body's defenses. The mechanisms of the therapeutic effect of hypoxicotherapy are unknown, but it can be assumed that the realization of its effect occurs by stimulation of vital centers in conditions of oxygen starvation. Application of the method makes it possible to increase the body's resistance to stress, stimulate metabolism, the procedure has an immunomodulatory effect

Effectiveness of hypoxic therapy
The use of hypoxic therapy in the complex treatment of narcological patients in the postabstinent state was accompanied by clearly expressed vegetostabilizing and general stimulating effects. Daily sessions on the background of antidepressant medication made it possible to obtain the expected clinical effect on the 2nd-3rd day, and further reduce the daily dose of antidepressant by 1.5-3 times. A positive effect of hypoxic therapy in the case of resistance to ongoing myanserin therapy (lerivone) was noted with individual intolerance to tricyclic antidepressants and a drug group of serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
