Treatment of psoriasis is a complex process that includes special requirements for the menu and diet regime. In particular,

  • The diet for psoriasis should be balanced;
  • eat often and gradually;
  • from the diet, many products must be excluded: chocolate, eggs, whole milk products, citrus fruits, vegetables with red pigment, as well as spicy, smoked, fatty, sour, sweet food.

Is it possible to honey with psoriasis?

"Is honey possible with psoriasis?" - the answer to this question is ambiguous. On the one hand, sweets, including bee honey, should not be present in the patient's diet with a diagnosis of "psoriasis"; on the other hand, it has long been proven that beekeeping products are quite effective in psoriasis, so even ancient doctors used them to treat this and other skin diseases.

Some experts consider sweet dainty in psoriasis useful, in minimal doses, as a light laxative - along with vegetables, fruits, vegetable oils. And the general trend in modern dermatology also tends to increase the use of fresh honey and related products; including because natural products are more useful than synthetic products.

Benefit and harm of honey in psoriasis

Honey refers to priceless gifts of nature, it is a real treasure trove of tasty, useful, irreplaceable nutrients. Contains a whole range of useful natural substances:

  • enzymes,
  • mineral salts,
  • organic acids,
  • vitamins,
  • phytoncides.

Together, these ingredients have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiviral properties.

However, not always honey, as in a proverb, eat with a full spoon. The benefits and harm of honey in psoriasis are determined by the way it is used. So, undoubtedly, the unique properties of the product in the case of this disease not only do not benefit, but can greatly harm, in particular - provoke an allergic reaction and exacerbation of the pathological process.

Nevertheless, honey for psoriasis will be very helpful - as a component of ointments and other drugs for external use. One of these ointments contains protein, celandine, petroleum jelly, baby cream and honey; when it is used, the itching and flaking of the skin is reduced.

In studies, positive changes were noted after applications from various grades of pure honey, or in combination with tar, sulfur, turpentine, bischofite. Honey promotes the purification and restoration of problem areas, the elimination of joint pain in psoriatic polyarthritis. For the treatment of feet and palms, when localizing the pathology in these places, apply a mixture of honey with glycerin 1: 2, and honey baths are very useful for any localization of psoriasis.

Dermatologists also use the medicinal qualities of other beekeeping products. So, on the basis of propolis, medical creams and pastes, tinctures and extracts, propolis milk and other medicines are made. The conducted studies have shown the effectiveness of tablets and ointments based on royal jelly.

In ointments from psoriasis, beeswax and poison (apitoxin) are also used. In some countries, drugs are produced with apitoxin (apizartron, virapin, apitritis, apifor, reumaprint).

Natural honey and other bee products are very healthy. However, honey can be a strong allergen and cause undesirable consequences. To consume honey with psoriasis is not recommended internally at all, and external application of beekeeping products should take place under the supervision of a doctor.
