Vaporization of the cervix is a method of treating cervical pathology, which is widely used in gynecology, as a minimally invasive, but at the same time effective method of treatment. This method is opened not so long ago, and its scope is increasing every year, as technologies and methods of its use are improved. This method is fast, effective and can be recommended to women of any age group, which contributes to its wide application.
Indications and techniques for conducting cervical vaporization
First, to carry out this treatment, it is necessary to establish a precise diagnosis. Before deciding on such an intervention, it is necessary to undergo a comprehensive examination of the doctor using instrumental and laboratory methods of investigation. First, you need to undergo colposcopy, which allows you to accurately visualize the changes that will need to be removed, and the presence of concomitant pathologies. It is necessary to carry out differential diagnosis of diseases, if necessary, a histological study to prevent complications. Preparation for vaporization of the cervix should also be the study of the microflora of the internal genital organs with identification of possible pathogenic microorganisms that can cause a postoperative infectious complication. Therefore, in some cases, even recommend before the procedure to conduct local preventive treatment with a combination antibacterial drug in the form of candles. It is very important that the procedure of vaporization itself be carried out on the eighth or ninth day of the menstrual cycle, since then the changes and proliferative function of the cells of the cervix are most pronounced.
Indications for such a procedure are:
- Metaplasia of the cervix I degree, and in some cases, and II degree.
- A real erosion of the cervix.
- Background pathologies in the form of leukoplakia without atypia of cells.
- Small postoperative traumatic defects of the cervix.
- Cysts of the cervix are small in size.
- Foci of endometriosis or endometrioid cysts of small size in the cervix.
- Cervical polyps are multiple or single.
These are the main indications for conducting vaporization, but in each case the tactics are decided individually, and there may be other indications for this procedure.
It should be noted that there is a laser vaporization and a radio wave. These techniques are slightly different. Laser vaporization of the cervix is an electrosurgical method of treatment, which consists in the directed action of the laser beam on the pathological focus of cells, and under the influence of this beam mechanical energy is converted into thermal energy and heats the cells very much. As a result of this process, evaporation of pathological cells occurs - vaporization. Radio wave vaporization of the neck of the uterus works on the same principle, only here the energy of radio waves is used. The further mechanism of repair consists in the healing of the mucosal defect, which was formed after vaporization, due to normal cells, and the smaller the defect, the better and sooner the healing takes place. It is believed that the laser has a higher separation capacity, so leaves a smaller defect. The procedure takes a little time - 15-20 minutes, which allows the patient to go home immediately after such treatment. As for the technique, it is very simple: a special sensor is inserted into the uterine cavity and a ray is sent, which produces the main effect, then if there are no complications, you can go home with a second consultation after the procedure.
Consequences and complications after vaporization of the cervix
Complications after this procedure do not occur often, but remember that they can be and prevent them or tell about this patient, because after this procedure, the woman is released home. One of the consequences of this procedure is bleeding. This is due to the injury of small vessels of the mucous membrane during vaporization, which may be accompanied by bleeding, but, as a rule, it is insignificant. Because this vaporization is a superficial process, large vessels are rarely damaged and late complications in the form of massive bleeding are not characteristic. If the bloodstream after vaporization of the cervix, then you need to contact the doctor, since there may be remnants of the pathological process with incomplete removal. This requires revision of the cavity of the cervical canal and uterus.
Another consequence of this procedure may be the stenosis of the cervical canal of the cervix, especially when performing a procedure in the area of the external throat of the cervix. Such a narrowing can be clinically insignificant, but if it is of considerable size, then later the cervical canalization may be necessary. This narrowing occurs due to a large defect in the mucosa, which forms a scar after healing, which helps to narrow the lumen. Therefore, it is very important that the vaporization process is at the minimum part of the mucous membrane for less trauma to uterine structures.
The discharge after vaporization of the cervix can also be one of the consequences that arises from infection of the cervical cavity or due to increased secretion of glands during their intensive proliferation. If the discharge is mucous, light in a small amount, then there is no need to worry, since this is a normal phenomenon of such interference, associated with active proliferation and secretion of cells at the site of the defect. In the case of green purulent discharge with an unpleasant odor, it is necessary to consult a doctor for the treatment of the infectious process.
The rehabilitation period lasts two weeks, until the next monthly, when all the products of the vital activity of the cells are released with menstruation. During this time, complete epithelization and regeneration takes place, which allows new cells to function normally. In the rehabilitation period it is recommended not to live a sexual life. In two weeks it is necessary to undergo a second examination to evaluate the result of treatment.
Vaporization of the cervix is an excellent method of treatment, which is the "gold standard" for the treatment of certain pathologies and is a minimally invasive method. In order not to be afraid of this procedure, it is necessary to know the basic principle of its conduct and the painlessness of this method. If you have any symptoms after the procedure, you need to consult a doctor.
