Ultrasound of the mammary glands is one of the most promising methods for diagnosing the pathology of mammary glands. Attempts to diagnose various pathological conditions of the mammary glands were carried out already in 1952. Then Wild and Reid, using one-dimensional echography (A-mode), established significant differences between normal and altered mammary tissues. Obtained data from one-dimensional echography were poorly informative and little used in clinical practice. Improvement of ultrasonic equipment, the emergence of devices operating in real time, sensors 3.5-4 MHz with water "nozzles" - have improved the image and more fully reveal structural changes in the mammary glands.

Women's health requires attention, so you need to know where to make ultrasound of the mammary glands and how often to perform this procedure. Ultrasound scanning refers to non-invasive methods of research and helps doctors when diagnosing diseases and selecting a method of treatment. During the diagnosis, the doctor evaluates the blood flow of the breast, determines the structure of the organ and identifies various seals or neoplasms.

The duration of ultrasound is about 20-30 minutes, the procedure is quick and painless. The patient is located on the couch, a gel is applied to the breast and the sensor is firmly pressed against the body. The sensor is inserted above the surveyed area, so that it is possible to obtain clear images. If the ultrasound affects the painful area, the pressure of the sensor causes painful sensations.

The main goal of ultrasound diagnosis of the mammary glands is the detection of pathological changes, which are confirmed on the MRI and mammorphy. With the help of ultrasound, it is possible to evaluate the structure of the detected focus: dense, fluid, cystic fibrous or mixed. As a rule, this diagnosis is carried out for women with a predisposition to cancer, pregnant women and other patients who are prohibited from X-rays, that is, mammography.
