Treatment of psoriasis in Israel, according to the conclusions of independent studies conducted by various medical scientific institutions, has a high level of positive results due to the exceptional properties of all natural factors of the Dead Sea.
In patients undergoing climatotherapeutic treatment of psoriasis at the Dead Sea, the duration of remission is much longer than with the use of corticosteroids or other drugs. In 68% of patients with psoriasis, skin rashes disappeared by 80% for a period of 6 to 12 months, and in almost 36%, complete skin cleansing occurred for a fairly long time.
Psoriasis Treatment in Israel: Clinical Methods
Clinical treatment of psoriasis in Israel includes all standard therapeutic schemes that are used in the treatment of this disease all over the world. And although psoriasis is currently incurable, there are a great many ways to improve the condition of patients. Doctors themselves admit that modern psoriasis therapy cannot affect the causes of the disease (because they are not reliably known) and only tries to reduce its manifestations on the skin.
Clinics in Israel use drug therapy, PUVA and phototherapy, and topical medications to treat psoriasis.
In case of psoriasis, dermatologists prescribe oral administration of vitamins A and D3; a drug based on retinoic acid, Acetretine (30 mg per day). Since there is a version about the autoimmune nature of this disease, then in severe forms of psoriasis, immunosuppressive therapy (suppressing the patient's immunity) can be carried out with the prescription of Methotrexate and Cyclosporine (Neoral). But these drugs do not help everyone and, in addition, give many complications.
In outpatient treatment of psoriasis in Israel, traditional PUVA therapy is also used, in which the patient takes the drug Psoralen (which increases the body's sensitivity to sunlight), and then his skin is exposed to ultraviolet A. Phototherapy, which irradiates the affected skin with UVB rays, has a similar principle (but without the use of drugs). The effectiveness of these methods is quite high, but does not work on all patients and does not guarantee long-term remission. In Israel, a computerized device, MultiClear, has been developed and is used, which combines the effects of ultraviolet A and B.
An integral part of psoriasis treatment in Israel is topical medications. Well-known ointments with vitamin D3 (Daivonex, Psorkutan) are widely used here; ointments with corticosteroids and salicylic acid (Belosalik, Vipsogal, Diprosalik, Lorinden D, etc.); skin spray SKIN CAP with zinc; ointments with solidol, naphthalan, wood tar.
Dermatologists note a good therapeutic effect of ointments, creams and gels with synthetic derivatives of vitamin A - retinoids. These are Tazorac (Tazarotene, Zorak), Tretinoin. The gel or ointment is applied once a day to the affected areas of the skin.
Psoriasis Treatment at the Dead Sea
Treatment of psoriasis at the Dead Sea uses all the unique possibilities of local natural factors: climatotherapy (climate features), heliotherapy (biological effects of sun rays), thalassotherapy (bathing in the Dead Sea), peloid therapy (sea healing mud).
At the same time, dermatologists and all medical staff of the various clinics adhere to clinical treatment guidelines developed by the Dead Sea Research Center (DSRC) in cooperation with the Israel Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ISDV) and approved by the Israel Psoriasis Association.
Thus, sun exposure is strictly dosed depending on the degree of the disease and its stage, the time of year and even the patient's skin type. An individual therapeutic program is drawn up for each patient - with constant correction and medical supervision.
To achieve maximum effectiveness, psoriasis treatment at the Dead Sea combines the use of the unique local water and silt mud (bottom sediments). Both the water and the sulphide peloids of the Dead Sea contain many salts and compounds of micro- and macroelements, and in very high concentrations. They have a beneficial effect on the skin (cleansing it of psoriatic rashes) and help restore normal intracellular metabolism. Mud treatment also helps with psoriatic arthritis.
At the IPTC Clinic, the Dead Sea Research Center and other clinics, patients undergo skin cleansing - including the scalp - using various softening natural oils and ointments based on Dead Sea minerals, algae wraps, mud wraps and applications.
Clinics in Israel for the treatment of psoriasis
Clinics in Israel for the treatment of psoriasis are never empty. According to estimates by the Israeli Ministry of Health, over the past 8 years the number of foreigners visiting the country for treatment has doubled. And many of them came specifically for treatment of this difficult disease.
In Israel, there are specialized dermatological inpatient departments in the following public medical centers: Haemek Medical Center, Afula; Rabin Medical Center, Petah Tikva; Rambam Medical Center, Haifa; Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer; Soroka Medical Center, Be'er Sheva; Tel Aviv Medical Center (TASMC).
Psoriasis is treated at the medical center belonging to the American women's organization Hadassah - Hadassah Medical Center (Jerusalem), at the Ramat Aviv Medical Center clinic (Tel Aviv), and also at the multidisciplinary private clinic Herzliya Medical Center, which is located in the city of Herzliya on the Mediterranean Sea.
But directly on the shore of the Dead Sea (in the resort town of Ein Bokek), patients with psoriasis are accepted and provided medical services by the Dead Sea Medical Research Center (DSMRC), the dermatological clinic IPTC Clinic - International Psoriasis Treatment Center, and the resort clinic Dead Sea Clinic (DMZ Dead Sea Clinic).
Cost of psoriasis treatment in Israel
The cost of psoriasis treatment in Israel depends on many factors, and no one can tell you the exact amount that is the same for all patients. Because the cost of all procedures is different, and they are prescribed individually.
For example, one session of treatment for psoriatic rashes on the scalp - head massage with mineral oils and natural supplements, physiotherapy, medical compress or application with Dead Sea minerals or medications - costs, on average, $130-150. And such procedures are prescribed 3, 5 or 7 (depending on the severity of the disease and the length of stay in the clinic).
Reviews of psoriasis treatment in Israel
In most cases, reviews of psoriasis treatment in Israel are positive and give hope to those who suffer from psoriasis. And there are at least 125 million such people in the world, or 3% of the inhabitants of our planet. In the USA, 5.5 million people suffer from psoriasis, in Brazil - 3.7 million, in Great Britain and France - 1.2 million each.
One of the real possibilities to alleviate the condition of such patients is psoriasis treatment in Israel, where there is a unique Dead Sea, creating favorable conditions for climate therapy. And clinics in Israel use all available therapeutic methods for treating psoriasis.
