The basis of the therapy of muscular-tonic syndrome is the return of muscle tone. First of all, this is maintaining a certain level of physical activity. This should be done with the help of therapeutic physical training, active-passive gymnastics, isotonic gymnastics. It is also important to alternate relaxation with tonic load, include breathing exercises and relaxation practices in the training regime.

Along with this, it is necessary to undergo massage and manual therapy sessions, physiotherapy. Water procedures, such as aqua aerobics, Charcot's shower, contrast shower, medicinal baths have a positive effect. At the same time, do not forget about drug treatment, folk remedies, herbal medicine, homeopathic remedies, vitamins.

Drug treatment

Medicines are used strictly as prescribed by the doctor, since self-medication can be fraught with serious side effects and complications. The main complications are considered to be a deterioration in the condition, the spread of atony to other areas. It is the consultation with the doctor that is the main precaution that will allow you to make the treatment safe, make it as effective as possible, and avoid side effects.

If the decrease in muscle tone is accompanied by severe pain, you should take painkillers. Paracetamol, taken one tablet three times a day, has proven itself quite well.

For children under 7 years of age, if pain occurs, it is recommended to take Panadol, 1 teaspoon (measuring) 4-5 times a day.

Also, for the treatment of pain syndrome in combination with spasms and convulsions, it is recommended to use cabrazepam at a dose of 3-5 mg/kg of body weight 2-3 times a day.

For severe pain, ketonal is recommended - 50 mg 1-2 times a day, maximum daily dose 100-150 mg.

Mydocalm

It is a medicinal product that is prescribed mainly to normalize muscle tone. Its characteristic feature is that it optimizes tone. In case of hypertonia, it helps to reduce the tone of tense areas, while in case of atony, on the contrary, it tones the muscle. It is also prescribed for radiculitis, arthritis, spondyloarthritis, lumbago, osteochondrosis. It normalizes metabolic processes in muscle tissue and joints. It relieves pain well, eliminates spasms, and promotes recovery processes. It is prescribed for recovery after various surgeries, especially for the recovery of the musculoskeletal system. It is also effective in the treatment of ulcers, erosions, erysipelas, and is used to heal wounds.

Available in tablets and injection solution. It is administered intramuscularly in the form of injections of 100 mg 2 injections per day. If the drug is prescribed in tablets, 150-450 mg per day is recommended (for adults).

Vitamins

It is necessary to take vitamins. They normalize metabolic processes in the body, increase muscle tone. The recommended daily dosage is presented below:

Traditional treatment of muscular-tonic syndrome

  • Recipe No. 1.

Corn oil or any other fatty base is used as a base for preparing a decoction for medicinal baths. It is heated to a warm state. It is better to use a water bath. 2 ml of concentrated extracts of the following plant components are poured into the resulting oil: common lilac, buckthorn bark, lemon balm leaves, valerian root, silverweed herb. It is used for massage and rubbing.

  • Recipe No. 2.

Take any body cream. It is better to take a natural cream, without added impurities, flavors, dyes. Even baby cream will do. Add a tablespoon of water or alcohol infusions of cinnamon, cloves, chamomile flowers, calendula flowers. You can add 1 ml of water infusion of hot red pepper. Mix everything until smooth, use for massage and rubbing. You can also lubricate painful areas with this cream before going to bed.

  • Recipe No. 3.

For general strengthening of the body, a balm is used. It is prepared on the basis of cognac. For preparation, take 2 tablespoons of valerian herb, Manchurian aralia rhizomes, calamus rhizomes, caraway fruits, medicinal chamomile and a tablespoon of honey. Pour cognac, insist for at least a day. Drink 10 grams per day.

Let's look at some recipes that are widely used to treat the lumbar spine.

  • Recipe No. 1.

To prepare, take a tablespoon of concentrated extract of the hernia herb, black poplar, 50 ml of chilibukha bark tincture, a teaspoon of eucalyptus oil, 10 ml of fresh ectericide. All this is infused for at least 3-4 days, drink 50 ml per day.

  • Recipe No. 2.

Take equal parts of mistletoe, betony leaves, wormwood branches, trifolium leaves, black elder flowers (at the rate of one dessert spoon per 500 ml of alcohol or cognac). Infuse for at least 5 days, drink in small quantities twice a day, 28 days.

  • Recipe No. 3.

Vodka or pure alcohol is used as a base. Then approximately one tablespoon of the following components is added: formic alcohol, alcohol tincture of chestnut fruits, 5 drops of alcohol tincture of henbane, a teaspoon of camphor oil. Add a tablespoon of rose hips, a teaspoon of santonica seed. Mix until a uniform consistency is formed, then set aside and allowed to harden.

  • Recipe No. 4.

Add a tablespoon of common wormwood, damask rose flowers, and common tansy to regular alcohol (500 ml). Then add 2-3 drops of thuja and juniper essential oil. Drink a tablespoon twice a day.

Strengthening and stimulating balms prepared on the basis of herbal remedies, as well as components of animal origin, have proven themselves well. Let's consider some recipes used in the treatment of cervical muscular-tonic syndrome.

  • Recipe No. 1.

To prepare, take a tablespoon of honey, clover roots, dandelion roots and grass, nettle leaves and buckwheat. Infuse all this for at least 3-4 days, drink 50 ml per day. The course of treatment is at least 28 days (full biochemical cycle).

  • Recipe No. 2.

Take equal parts of fireweed leaf, yarrow flowers, 10 ml of horseradish juice, 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 2 drops of iodine. Infuse for at least 5 days, drink in small quantities twice a day for 28 days.

  • Recipe No. 3.

Vodka or pure alcohol is used as a base. Then about a tablespoon of the following ingredients is added: calamus, dandelion, wormwood, blue cornflower. A tablespoon of fresh black radish juice, a tablespoon of horseradish puree, 10-20 mustard seeds are added. Mix until a uniform consistency is formed, then set aside and allowed to harden.

  • Recipe No. 4.

Add a tablespoon of the above-ground part of the plant curly wolfberry, juice of half an orange, a teaspoon of celandine juice, 50 ml of 96% alcohol tincture of birch buds and 5-6 dried chestnut flowers to regular alcohol (500 ml). Then add 2-3 drops of coriander and lemongrass essential oil. Drink a tablespoon twice a day.

To eliminate thoracolumbalgia with muscular-tonic syndrome, a complex effect is needed. To do this, you need to consult a doctor. But in order to quickly relieve pain, you can try to rub the painful area with the application of ointment.

  • Recipe No. 1.

To prepare the ointment, take lard as a base, melt it in a water bath or on low heat until dissolved, stirring constantly. Add 2 tablespoons of bellflower flowers, birch branches, leuzea root, plantain root, 25-30 drops of eleutherococcus infusion to the resulting mass. Mix everything until a uniform consistency is formed. Remove from heat, allow to harden. Use for rubbing, as massage oil during massage. Apply a thin layer, wipe until completely absorbed. Store in the refrigerator (on the bottom shelf).

  • Recipe No. 2.

As a base for preparing massage oil, take about 100 ml of a mixture of burdock, castor and olive oils. Prepare a mixture of the following plant components in advance in a fireproof dish: common caraway, Siberian rowan berries, honey, rose hips, strawberry leaves (at a rate of about 2 tablespoons of each component per 100 ml of oil). Heat the oil over low heat (do not bring to a boil). As soon as the oil has heated up enough, but has not yet boiled, remove it from the heat and pour in the previously prepared herbs.

  • Recipe No. 3.

A mixture of massage base oils is used as a base: peach kernel oil, wheat germ oil in a ratio of 1:2, 2-3 drops of castor and sea buckthorn oil are added. Mix. 2 drops of the following essential oils are added to the resulting mixture: nettle, birch, orange. Also add 50 ml of aloe juice, 50 ml of Cahors and 5 grams of gelatin. Mix thoroughly, use during massage.

  • Recipe No. 4.

Lanolin cream is used as a base for preparing massage oil. 2 ml of concentrated extracts of the following plant components are added to it: parsley root, dried seaweed, and scale-free hazelnut kernels. It is used for massage and rubbing.

  • Recipe No. 5.

Take any body cream. It is better to take a natural cream, without added additives, flavors, dyes. Even baby cream will do. Add 150 ml of aloe juice, 150 grams of honey, 10 grams of dry gelatin, one raw egg. Mix everything until smooth, you can lubricate painful areas with this cream before going to bed.

Herbal treatment

Flaxseed helps to restore tone, normalize metabolic processes, increase elasticity, conductivity and resistance of muscle tissue and nerve fibers. It is useful to drink a decoction of the seed instead of water. First, the seed should be fried in a frying pan until it turns brown, then ground in a coffee grinder and brewed like coffee. You can add honey and lemon to taste.

For atony, it is recommended to take a decoction of birch buds internally. It quickly relieves spasms, eliminates pain and restores tone.

The root of the medicinal rue in the form of a decoction (a teaspoon per glass of water) is taken for 28 days to restore muscle tone.

Homeopathy

Homeopathic remedies should be taken with precautions. The main measure is a careful study of the composition, as well as a preliminary consultation with a doctor. This will help to avoid side effects, such as the progression of atony, allergic reactions, undesirable effects from the gastrointestinal tract. Let's consider the recipes of the main ointments that are recommended for use during massage and manual therapy sessions, for rubbing painful areas.

  • Recipe No. 1.

To prepare the ointment, take fish oil as a base, melt it in a water bath or on low heat until dissolved, stirring constantly. Add 2 tablespoons of horsetail, wormwood, and water pepper decoction to the resulting mass. Mix everything until a uniform consistency is formed. Remove from heat and allow to solidify. Use for rubbing, as a massage oil during massage. Apply a thin layer, rub in until completely absorbed. Store in the refrigerator (on the bottom shelf).

  • Recipe No. 2.

To prepare the massage oil, take about 100 grams of nutria fat and 30 grams of lard. Melt it all until the oil is formed. Prepare a mixture of the following plant components in advance in a fireproof dish: gentian cross-shaped, marsh marigold, silverweed (at a rate of about 2 tablespoons of each herb per 130 ml of oil). Heat the oil over low heat (without bringing it to a boil). As soon as the oil has heated up enough, but has not yet boiled, remove it from the heat and pour in the previously prepared herbs. Mix, cover with a lid on top, and leave in a dark place for 24 hours (at room temperature). After this, the oil is ready for use as a massage oil. It is also used for rubbing painful areas, under a compress, for wraps and oiling.

  • Recipe No. 3.

A mixture of massage base oils is used as a base: peach kernel oil, avocado oil and wheat germ oil in a ratio of 1:1:2, 2-3 drops of castor and sea buckthorn oil are added. Mix. 2 drops of the following essential oils are added to the resulting mixture: elecampane oil, common lilac, eucalyptus. Mix thoroughly, use during massage.

  • Recipe No. 4.

Also, when muscle tone decreases, it is recommended to take warm foot baths with a decoction of chamomile (tablespoon), sea salt (2 tablespoons) and dry mustard (1 tablespoon). Quickly relieves fatigue, tones muscles, relieves pain and spasms.

Physiotherapy treatment

The main methods of influence are treatment with ultrasound, microcurrents, waves of different lengths. Electrophoresis is used, with the help of which medicinal preparations are introduced directly into the damaged tissue. Acupuncture, also known as needle acupuncture, is quite an effective method.

Exercise therapy for muscular-tonic syndrome

The set of exercises for the spine has proven itself to be quite effective.

Initial position. You should take the most comfortable position, sitting on the floor. You should relax, feel all the muscles. It is better to close your eyes. You should feel how the muscles of the buttocks touch the floor, relaxing even more. Then you should straighten the spine, and sit in such a way that the load is distributed as evenly as possible on both buttocks. The spine should be straightened as much as possible.

Then slowly raise your arms above your head so that they act as an "extension" of your spine. Continue to stretch upward as much as possible. Clasp your arms above your head. Repeat the exercise 5-10 times. Then lower your arms to your knees, contemplate your state, and listen to your feelings.

Smoothly move on to the next exercise. Slowly move your hands behind your back. Press your hands tightly to your back. Tilt your head down. At the same time, smoothly bend your spine, starting with the cervical spine, then the thoracic spine, then the lumbar spine, and if possible, bend your coccyx and sacrum. Try to relax, and in this position try to feel every part of your body. It is recommended to stay in this position for at least 5 minutes.

Place your feet on your knees, palms down. Try to pull your lumbar spine forward as much as possible, then bend (chest forward, lower back, tailbone back). Sit in this bend for at least 5 minutes. Try to relax as much as possible and feel every part of your body. Return to the starting position.

Let's move on to the next exercise. Place your hands on your knees. Place your right hand on your left knee. Place your left hand in front of you in a vertical position. Gradually begin to move your left hand up, bend your spine to the right, and lower it down. The hand follows the spine. If possible, lower it so low that the hand touches the floor. Stay in this position for 5-6 minutes. Then slowly return to the starting position.

We repeat the exercise in the same sequence, only in mirror image.

Then put your hands on your knees, sit in a comfortable position. Try to relax as much as possible so that you can feel all the changes that have occurred in your body. Sit for about 5-10 minutes with your eyes closed, in a state of maximum relaxation. At the same time, maintain attention to the changes that are happening, contemplate the sensations.

Surgical treatment

Radical methods can be used only if the cause of the disease is known exactly. Also, traditional, medicinal methods, physiotherapy are tried first, and only if these methods are ineffective, can we talk about surgery. But there are cases when surgery is the only possible method of treatment. Sometimes surgery is unavoidable.
