Seeing a doctor is important in both acute and chronic cystitis with blood. Even if the patient has just completed a course of therapy and the symptoms have returned, seek medical attention immediately.
First aid
What is the first aid if cystitis with blood is detected?
- It is necessary to make an appointment for the patient to see a doctor, and if the bleeding is severe - for example, if the urine is colored reddish or rusty, then it is necessary to call an ambulance.

Every 30-40 minutes the patient should drink a glass of drinking non-carbonated water, or compote of dried fruits, cranberries, blueberries. It is forbidden to drink coffee, strong tea, sodas and alcohol. Among the drinks can also be infusions of oats, birch buds, nettle leaves, chamomile color. Vitamins
In addition to diet and the main treatment for cystitis with blood, vitamins are very important. They help to restore damaged tissues, strengthen the immune system, improve the microflora. On the advice of the doctor, you can start taking complex multivitamin supplements, or try to get the necessary nutrients with food.
Vitamins such as these are of great importance in the successful cure of cystitis:
- Ascorbic acid is particularly effective if inflammation is caused by E. Coli entering the urethra. Vitamin C is taken in an amount of 0.5 g twice a day.
- Vitamin A is important for full cellular repair of the walls of the urinary organ. In cystitis with blood, this vitamin is used in the amount of 25 thousand IU per day.
Zinc is needed to eliminate the inflammatory process, which can further prevent the development of recurrences of the disease. To vitamins and zinc, it is useful to add echinacea - for example, in the form of a tincture. This remedy will make the immune system stronger, so that the disease will quickly recede.
Physiotherapy treatment
Physical therapy may consist of the following treatments:
- laser and short-pulse electric anesthesia;
- laser treatment and magnetotherapy;
- UHF, UHF;
- application of sinusoidal modulated currents;
- endovesical phonophoresis.
The combination of sinusoidal modulated currents with electrophoresis has a good effect in the process of physiotherapy: it allows inhibition of painful impulsation from the damaged organ. CMT electrophoresis procedures are applied to patients suffering from chronic inflammation.
Laser therapy, ultra-high-frequency therapy, ultrasound are used in the latent course of the disease at the stage of recovery.
Is it safe to warm cystitis with blood?
Heat does help to relieve the main painful signs and is often used for cystitis. But is it possible to use dry or moist heat in case of blood discharge into the bladder cavity? Doctors say unequivocally: before diagnosis and finding out the exact source of bleeding to use heat procedures are contraindicated. Even the slightest warming can provoke severe acute bleeding, which should not be allowed.
So, is it possible to apply a heating pad for cystitis with blood? Not until such a procedure is authorized by the attending doctor.
Baths, saunas and even hot baths in cystitis with blood are also contraindicated: it is allowed only to take a warm shower, additionally wash with warm solutions of furacilin or manganese acid potassium, infusions of chamomile or sage. Other water procedures should be coordinated with the doctor.
Treatment at home
Even at home, it is better to conduct a combined treatment - be sure to take medications and do the procedures prescribed by the doctor, supplementing them with some methods of folk treatment. If you try to treat cystitis with blood only "grandmotherly" recipes, you can add to your problems: the disease is easily complicated by renal pathologies, up to general intoxication and sepsis.
Patients should understand the nature of the disease, pay special attention to the importance of preventing dehydration and timely emptying of the ureter.
All patients should be aware of the need for antibiotic therapy, without which it is almost impossible to completely cure infectious cystitis.
Diet is no less obligatory: salty, spicy, irritating food, alcohol, coffee are excluded (preferable dietary table №10). Fluid intake is provided to maintain the necessary daily diuresis in the amount of 2-2.5 liters.
Phytotherapy for cystitis with blood does not carry a significant independent load. However, medicinal plants can well be used as an auxiliary method in the recovery stage.
Folk treatment
The main method of folk treatment is warming the bladder projection area with warm compresses, heating pads, salt bags. Warming is repeated for 5 minutes every hour, until a steady improvement in the condition. It is believed that heat procedures have antispasmodic properties, so they help to quickly relieve the painful symptoms of cystitis. However, if bleeding is evident, heat should not be used: it is necessary to consult a doctor beforehand.
It is recommended to drink cranberry morsels, cranberry juice. This berry prevents the adhesion of pathogenic microorganisms to the mucous tissue of the bladder, which contributes to a speedy recovery.
And another folk recipe. Mix in equal amounts of black radish juice and honey. Drink the remedy 1 tbsp. Three times a day. The duration of such treatment - from three to four weeks.
Do baths and washcloths with chamomile, 10-20 minutes every evening, until the eradication of painful symptoms.
In order to warm the bladder, a woolen handkerchief is also used and applied to the lower abdomen. This method of warming is excellent if used at night.
Additionally, medicinal plants can also be used.
Herbal treatment
One of the most common plants used to treat cystitis is considered to be dill. Famous to all greens, together with the seeds have pronounced cleansing, bactericidal and restorative properties. Dill is most often taken in the form of infusion or decoction:

Other well-known plants such as sage, violet, mint, dandelion rhizome and leaves, cypress, althea rhizome or St. John's wort are also used for cystitis.
Homeopathy
Homeopathic remedies are prescribed taking into account the peculiarities of the disease of a particular patient: for example, the form of cystitis, its etiology, primary or secondary pathology, as well as some individual characteristics of the patient.
- Aconitum helps in the acute stage of cystitis with blood, which is accompanied by signs of intoxication, burning pain in the urethra, painful problem urination - including in children.
- Apis is prescribed for cloudy and bloody urine, as well as for general signs such as drowsiness, stupor, and edema.
- Arsenicum is used to treat chronic inflammation in which pus and blood are found in the urine.
- Belladonna helps in the acute process with manifestations of hypersensitivity in the urethral region.
- Cantharis is used to relieve unbearable spastic pain in the urethra and perineum, with dripping of urine with blood.
- Dulcamara is used for small amounts of stinky and cloudy urine with red or light-colored mucus. The condition worsens in cool weather.
There are other, no less valuable homeopathic remedies - for example, many patients are helped by Berberis vulgaris, Calcarea, Camphor, Carbo vegetabilis. But any of these remedies is prescribed for appropriate indications and in individual dosages, which is evaluated by a homeopathic doctor during a consultative appointment.
Surgical treatment
Surgical treatment of cystitis with blood is mentioned in only a few cases:
- in urolithiasis, when there is a need to remove the source of constant irritation of the mucosal tissue;
- in tumor processes, when it is necessary to remove a benign or malignant tumor that destroys tissue and blood vessels and promotes bleeding;
- for anatomical defects in the urethra.
Surgical correction of anatomical defects is prescribed according to individual indications and represents a small plastic surgery of the urethral canal - for example, transferring the external opening of the urethra, giving it a more elevated position to prevent regular infection. This intervention does not require a long recovery period and is even performed on an outpatient basis. Although it is preferable for the patient to be under medical supervision for at least 1-2 days.
Self-absorbing sutures are used for the surgery, and the postoperative period is usually quick. The patient visits the surgeon 1-2 times for follow-up check-ups. As a rule, after the intervention, cystitis recurrences do not bother anymore.
