An allergic rash is a specific reaction of the body in the form of the release of histamine in the skin in response to certain irritants (allergens).
An allergic rash appears as certain signs of irritation, redness, etc. on the skin, accompanied by unpleasant itching and burning, as well as peeling of the skin. It happens that an allergic rash is accompanied by the appearance of various sized blisters filled with liquid, red pimples and swelling. Sometimes allergic rashes are accompanied by the formation of crusts and constant wetting of the affected areas of the skin.
It happens that allergy sufferers react with the appearance of a rash on the skin not to one irritant, but to several. Moreover, it should be noted that these allergens are absolutely safe substances and do not pose any threat to the health of other people. But the immune system of allergy sufferers is designed in such a way that it reacts to these completely harmless substances, since they pose a danger to them.
Allergic skin rashes appear in several forms:
- in the form of urticaria, characterized by the appearance of blisters on certain areas of the skin or their spread throughout the body, as well as the appearance of redness of the skin and itching;
- developed Quincke's edema, which manifests itself in the form of sudden and severe swelling of the skin along with the subcutaneous tissue and mucous membranes;
- eczema, which manifests itself as an inflammatory process of the upper layers of the skin of a neuro-allergic nature, which occurs in response to various external and internal irritants. Eczema is characterized by polymorphic rashes, that is, of a varied nature, as well as the presence of itching and a long-term course of the disease of a recurrent nature.
- atopic dermatitis, which is characterized by the appearance of erythema with bright reddening of areas of the skin, as well as the presence of well-defined edema; in the future, blisters that do not open and blisters that leave weeping erosions when opened may occur.
There are countless allergens that can cause skin reactions. The main ones include:
- allergic response to medications used externally;
- manifestations of allergies to various parts of clothing, for example, hooks, watch and clothing clasps, belt elements, inserts made of certain materials, certain types of fabrics;
- the occurrence of a skin reaction to perfumes and cosmetics - to various perfumes, eau de toilette, deodorants, toilet soap, creams, milk, lotions, tonics, emulsions, masks, foundation creams, powders, mascara, eye shadow and other decorative cosmetics;
- the appearance of skin rashes in response to contact with household cleaning and washing chemicals – washing powders, dishwashing detergents, cleaning products for plumbing, tiles, window and floor cleaners, and so on;
- the occurrence of allergic reactions after using products or clothing made of latex rubber;
- allergic reactions in response to solar radiation in the summer, as well as sudden changes in temperature;
- skin reaction to contact with varnishes and paints, as well as to inhalation of their vapors;
- allergic response to interaction with toxic substances;
- manifestation of an allergic rash on contact with metals, such as cobalt, gold, nickel;
- the body's reaction to insect bites, as well as to contact with jellyfish and various plants;
- the occurrence of an allergic rash as a result of consuming allergens in food - chocolate and cocoa, strawberries, eggs, mushrooms, canned fish, and so on;
- the appearance of skin rashes due to individual intolerance to certain medications – sulfonamides, antibiotics, amidopyrine, and so on;
- manifestation of skin allergies as a result of gastrointestinal poisoning;
- the occurrence of an allergic rash as a reaction to stress factors and general increased nervous excitability of the body.
In modern medicine, it is generally accepted that all types of allergic diseases can be attributed to pathological immune reactions of the body. Therefore, it can be noted that the main cause of allergic rash is a decrease in immunity and the appearance of immunodeficiency states.
Treatment of allergic rash in adults
The first stage of treatment of allergic rash in adults is to determine the source that caused the allergic reaction of the body and remove it from the allergy sufferer’s access zone.
At the initial stage, when the allergen has not yet been identified, it is necessary to resort to effective means of local treatment of allergic rash. First of all, the treatment should be aimed at eliminating swelling and reducing itching and burning of the skin. For this purpose, the affected areas should be moistened with cold water, or a cold compress should be applied, or a compress with calamine lotion.
Rubbing vodka or alcohol on skin areas prone to allergies is also used, which helps relieve inflammation and reduces itching and burning. Thirty to fifty grams of alcohol are applied to a cotton wool pad five to seven centimeters in diameter, which is then generously rubbed onto the inflamed skin area. After which the cotton wool is applied to the affected area for ten to twenty minutes.
It should be remembered that the affected areas of the skin must be protected from external irritants that can provoke the spread of an allergic rash. You need to be careful about the effect of synthetic materials on the skin, as well as friction of various fabrics, the occurrence of scratches or the appearance of insect bites. Among the mandatory conditions for the treatment of skin rashes is the requirement to limit the contact of the affected area of the skin with water. You should also replace clothes and underwear made of artificial materials with natural ones - cotton, etc.
In the future, it is necessary to use medicinal products in the form of ointments for external use and preparations for internal use. Traditional medicine is also considered effective, which involves a combination of compresses, products for rubbing into the skin, baths, and products for internal use.
The use of conservative and traditional medicine methods allows not only to effectively treat the symptoms of skin rashes, but also, in the future, to help prevent the disease. With the right treatment methods, allergy sufferers will not experience allergic rashes and other reactions in the future, even when in contact with allergens.
Oral antihistamines play a huge role in the treatment of allergic rashes. These include Tavegil, Suprastin, Claritin, Diphenhydramine, which are used in parallel with calcium gluconate. More details about these medications will be discussed in the corresponding section "Medicines for allergic rashes". It is also possible to prescribe sedatives - Novo-Passit, valerian tablets, motherwort tincture, etc.
If the patient has severe swelling of the skin, as well as numerous rashes, it is necessary to immediately contact specialists who can administer hormonal corticosteroid drugs. These include Aldecin, Tafen Nasal, Nasonex, Flixonase and Nasobek. At the same time, it is necessary to remember that the use of hormonal drugs is possible only under constant supervision of a doctor and if the indications for their use are really serious. Hormonal therapy has many side effects, and also provokes a decline in the body's own protective immune reactions.
Prevention of allergic rashes involves using special anti-allergic creams and ointments before contact with allergens. These products are applied to the skin in areas of potential interaction with aggressive substances and create a kind of barrier to their penetration into the skin.
Also, when in contact with allergens, it is necessary to use protective clothing that will prevent irritants from getting on the skin. For example, the use of detergents and cleaning agents should be carried out in rubber gloves. When working with paints and varnishes, as well as alkalis and acids, you need to not only wear gloves, but also put on a respirator on your face.
It is best to use non-aggressive detergents and cleaning agents at home, as well as hypoallergenic personal hygiene products.
If you expect to be in the sun for a long time, you should use creams with maximum protection from the sun's rays, as well as hats with wide brims, sunglasses, light capes and pareos, long-sleeved clothing, and light long trousers and skirts.
People with increased sensitivity to temperature changes should avoid such manifestations of the weather. And those who know about their allergic reactions to insect bites should use repellents. And to exclude the appearance of an allergic rash in response to food irritants, it is worth excluding hyperallergenic products from the menu or eating them rarely and in small quantities.
If an allergic rash occurs, do not self-medicate by choosing the drug you like most at the pharmacy. You need to consult an experienced dermatologist and allergist, who will advise you to use complex conservative treatment taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient.
It should be noted that when choosing the right allergy medications, the patient will experience the following effects:
- reduction of inflammatory processes in the affected area of the skin,
- elimination of itching, burning, redness and dry skin,
- absence of penetration of infection into the patient's body through damaged areas of the skin,
- preventing the spread of allergic rash to other areas of the skin and exacerbation of skin allergic reactions.
When choosing medications for external and internal use, it is necessary to pay attention to the absence of components in the drug that can provoke further allergy. Therefore, in modern medicine, the treatment of allergic rashes in adults in an increasing number of cases is carried out with drugs consisting of natural substances.
If an allergic rash occurs, the patient needs to pay attention to their lifestyle and diet, since the level of functioning of the immune system and metabolic processes in the body depend on this. When allergy symptoms appear, food products with allergenic properties are excluded from the patient's menu. These include chocolate and cocoa, various industrial sweets, honey and bee products, large amounts of sugar, eggs, and so on. It should be remembered that in addition to universal products that can cause allergies, there are also food products to which the patient will have a specific reaction that is unique to him.
Smoking also contributes to the development of allergic rashes. People suffering from allergic diseases need to give up this bad habit forever.
A stressful lifestyle contributes to the occurrence and aggravation of allergic reactions. Therefore, for therapeutic and preventive purposes, it is recommended to change your lifestyle and limit the presence of negative emotional and psychological factors at home and at work. It is also necessary to monitor your general health and take measures to strengthen your immune system.
Treatment of allergic rash during pregnancy
First of all, when treating allergic rashes in pregnant women, it is necessary to eliminate the source of allergic reactions. After that, it is necessary to seek advice and treatment from a specialist.
Treatment of allergic rash during pregnancy is best done with folk remedies, since this method of treatment has a very low probability of side effects. At the same time, it is naturally necessary to consult a specialist about whether a particular pregnant woman can use certain methods of treatment.
Allergic rash is treated with local remedies:
- When treating allergic dermatitis, it is recommended to use oak bark decoction, which is used to wash the affected areas and apply compresses to them. Oak bark decoction is famous for its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing effects.
- Allergic dermatitis is well eliminated with the help of oil extract from the pulp of rose hips. For these purposes, gauze napkins soaked in this extract are applied to the affected areas of the skin once or twice a day.
- When treating eczema, you can use apple cider vinegar or freshly collected birch sap. To do this, the necessary area of skin is abundantly moistened with the above-mentioned means.
- A cabbage leaf is also considered a good aid in treating eczema. It should be beaten and tied to the sore spot for a long time. It is necessary to hold the tied leaf on the affected area of skin for two to three days. After that, the leaf is removed, the sore spot is washed, and then a new beaten cabbage leaf is applied to the same area. It is recommended to do this alternation several times.
- Elecampane ointment is also excellent for treating allergic rashes. The remedy is prepared as follows: elecampane rhizomes are crushed, then a handful of the crushed mass is taken and mixed with four to five spoons of unsalted lard. After which the mixture is boiled for fifteen minutes and filtered while hot. Then the remedy is poured into a glass jar and closed with a lid. The ointment is applied to inflamed, itchy and flaky areas of the skin.
- The following remedy is prepared for skin rashes. Take 50 grams of vinegar and pour it into a half-liter jar, into which one egg is beaten. The mixture is stirred with a wooden spoon and left for a day in a cool place. After which one hundred grams of melted butter are added to the mixture and the remedy is put in a cool place for another day. The finished remedy is applied to the affected skin areas.
- Allergic skin diseases are well treated by using Kalanchoe juice. Fresh juice of the plant is diluted with water in a ratio of one to three and then applied to the sore spot.
- In case of severe skin itching, juice and water infusion of plants are indicated, which are applied as lotions to the affected area. Hawthorn, pansies, and horsetail are used for these purposes. Decoctions of elecampane roots, horse chestnut, burdock, and blood-red geranium are also good. The decoction is prepared as follows: take two teaspoons of raw materials and pour half a glass of boiling water, then boil over low heat for five minutes. In case of severe skin rashes, it is good to use baths using the above decoctions and infusions.
- A saline solution of any concentration is good for treating allergic rashes with itching. For these purposes, take a cotton cloth, soak it in a saline solution and apply it to the sore spot. After the procedure, the irritation will increase, but will disappear after a short time.
- Common cocklebur is used in summer in the form of plant juice to lubricate affected areas of the skin. In winter, a decoction is used, which is prepared as follows: one tablespoon of crushed raw materials is poured with one glass of water, boiled for ten minutes, and infused for half an hour in a wrapped state. The decoction is used as a lotion and wash of inflamed areas of the skin.
The following internal remedies are used to treat allergic rashes:
- When treating urticaria in pregnant women, celery juice is used as a food supplement. The juice can only be extracted from fresh rhizomes of the plant, and the medicine should be taken half a teaspoon three times a day half an hour before meals.
- Potato juice or freshly grated potatoes are used, which should be used for thirty days. Three tablespoons of the remedy are used twice a day half an hour before meals.
- Allergic rashes on the skin are treated with a decoction of young buds and cones of spruce. The raw material is taken, washed and crushed, and then two tablespoons are boiled in one liter of milk for twenty minutes. The dishes should be enameled and covered with a lid. The decoction is cooled and taken one third of a liter three times a day.
- One tablespoon of dead nettle flowers is taken and a glass of boiling water is poured over it. After that, the medicine is infused for an hour in a wrapped state, and then filtered. The infusion is taken half a glass four to five times a day before meals.
- Take one tablespoon of the succession and pour a glass of water, after which the herb is boiled for fifteen to twenty minutes. Then the drink is infused in a wrapped state for at least two hours, and then filtered. Take the decoction one tablespoon three to four times a day before meals.
When treating eczema, it is recommended to use infusions of wild plants, which perfectly cleanse the internal organs - the stomach, intestines, liver and kidneys, lungs, heart and spleen. Therefore, eczema is well treated in the summer, starting in June, since at this time the plant world is rich in wild plants, containing large quantities of vitamins and nutrients. Here are examples of collections for internal use:
- Take two parts of buckthorn root, one part of chicory root, one part of dandelion root, one part of bogbean leaves, two parts of fennel fruits. All raw materials must be thoroughly mixed, after which one tablespoon of the mixture is taken and poured with one glass of boiling water. The drink is boiled for half an hour, and then infused for one hour. The resulting decoction is taken three-quarters of a glass two or three times a day.
- Take two parts of the herb of the succession, one part of walnut leaves, two parts of blackcurrant leaves, two parts of strawberry leaves, two parts of yarrow flowers, two parts of violet herb, two parts of burdock root, one part of chicory root. Mix the raw materials well, then pour one tablespoon of the mixture with one glass of boiling water and leave for half an hour. Take the infusion one fourth to one third of a glass five to six times a day half an hour before meals.
- You need to take one part of sage leaves, two parts of nettle, two parts of wormwood, two parts of St. John's wort, two parts of yarrow, two parts of plantain leaves, two parts of centaury, two parts of horsetail, one part of juniper berries. Mix the raw materials thoroughly, then take one tablespoon of the mixture and pour one glass of boiling water over it. Let the drink steep for half an hour. Take one third to one half glass of the infusion five to six times a day half an hour before meals.
If the manifestation of an allergic rash in a pregnant woman is accompanied by strong allergic reactions, it is possible, but only as prescribed by a doctor, to resort to conservative anti-allergic treatment.
The following antihistamines can be used during pregnancy:
- Suprastin or chlorpyramidin – only in the event of acute allergic reactions.
- Allertek or cetirizine – is used exclusively in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
- Tavegil or clemastine - are prescribed in severe cases of allergy, when there is a threat to the health and life of the mother, since these medications negatively affect the development of the fetus. If it is possible to use other drugs instead of the indicated ones, then such a replacement must be made.
- Claritin is used during pregnancy only when the risk of developing allergic reactions threatens a significant deterioration in the health or life of the mother, since the use of the drug is associated with strong side effects that threaten the development of the fetus.
- Fexadine or fexofenadine is a drug used during pregnancy only if the effect of its action is much higher than the possible risk to the development and health of the fetus.
During pregnancy, the use of the following antihistamines is prohibited:
- Pipolfen or piperacillin, which are also excluded during breastfeeding.
- Diphenhydramine, which can cause active contractions of the uterus and pose a risk of miscarriage or premature birth.
- Terfenadine, which promotes weight loss observed in newborn babies.
- Astemizole, which has a toxic effect on the fetus.
To prevent the development of an allergic rash, the expectant mother should refrain from interacting with household chemicals, as well as new cosmetics in the form of creams and decorative cosmetics. It is also not recommended to use perfumes in the form of deodorants, eau de toilette and perfumes.
At the same time, it is necessary to remember that the food of a pregnant woman should contain allergens in minimal quantities. During pregnancy, expectant mothers are advised to refuse to consume those products and dishes to which she has had allergic reactions at least once in her life.
I would like to believe that expectant mothers who smoked before pregnancy, with the arrival of the time of expecting a baby, parted with such a bad habit. Smoking is not only a strong factor provoking the appearance of allergic reactions, but also a means of influencing the delay in the growth of the fetus, as well as the disruption of the development of its lungs. In addition, cigarette smoking is one of the most common causes of allergic reactions in the fetus in the form of atopic dermatitis and bronchial asthma.
During pregnancy, the expectant mother should not experiment and get new pets. Since animal hair is a fairly strong allergen. Also, a pregnant woman needs to frequently wet clean the premises, air out the home several times a day, vacuum carpets, rugs and upholstered furniture once a week, and also beat out pillows and dry them in the sun.
Treatment of allergic rash in children
Allergic rash in children appears due to contact with allergens of food, medicine, seasonal and dust origin. Allergic rash in most cases appears unexpectedly and is almost always accompanied by severe itching, as well as a runny nose and increased lacrimation. Skin rash appears as clearly visible relief rashes.
An allergic rash can also be caused by a child’s body’s reaction to insect bites, as well as contact with plants and animals.
Allergic rash in children under one year of age occurs on the cheeks, neck, as well as on the outer sides of the forearms and buttocks. At first, within a few hours, skin rashes appear as "feverish" spots. The skin in the affected areas begins to be covered with bright red spots, which then transform into one reddened area. The affected areas have a swollen appearance, and after a while, small blisters filled with liquid begin to form on the skin. At this time, the child begins to behave capriciously and irritably, since he is bothered by severe itching, which provokes scratching of the skin and damage to the blisters.
In preschool children, skin rashes of an allergic nature are located on the face, forearms and abdomen. The rash appears as red or dark pink spots that look like peeling areas. The child may be bothered by headaches or drowsiness, and diarrhea and vomiting may also occur.
The appearance of an allergic rash in a child requires immediate response. Treatment of skin rashes must be carried out, first of all, because the child, when scratching the skin, can introduce various types of infections into the wounds and cause serious complications. Also, if you do not start treating allergic rashes, they can acquire the status of chronic, and also leave unsightly scars on the child's skin.
First of all, treatment of allergic rash in children begins with a consultation with an experienced dermatologist and allergist. Also, the first steps include identifying the allergen that caused the body's reaction and eliminating it from the child's life field.
The doctor prescribes antihistamines for use, which help improve the child's condition and reduce skin itching. These include suprastin, claritin, diphenhydramine, allertek and others. It is important to remember that many antihistamines have a sedative effect, so you should not leave the child alone or let him go anywhere on his own when taking the medications.
The attending physician will also prescribe special gels, creams and ointments that can be used externally.
In case of severe manifestations of an allergic rash, it is possible to prescribe injectable drugs and place the child in a hospital for treatment.
When the first symptoms of an allergic rash appear, it is necessary to resort to certain measures, namely:
- Eliminate all possible allergens from the child's menu. These include chocolate and cocoa, honey, citrus fruits, strongly colored fruits, seafood, eggs, nuts.
- It is necessary to limit the use of household chemicals indoors, as well as when washing clothes. Instead of regular household chemicals, hypoallergenic products should be used.
- It is necessary to consult a doctor about the medications that the child was taking. They may have caused the allergic rash. If it is possible to stop taking the drug that caused the allergy, then this should be done.
- Stop using conventional skin and hair care products and resort to hypoallergenic cosmetics.
- Remove pets from the home that may cause allergic rashes.
To treat allergic rashes in children, you can resort to the following methods:
- Take ten branches of young carrot tops, pour half a liter of boiling water over them and leave to infuse for three hours. After that, the infusion is applied locally by wiping the affected areas of the skin with cotton wool several times a day. The infusion is also taken orally, one-fourth of a glass three times a day before meals.
- The use of bay leaf infusion for baths followed by rubbing zinc ointment into the areas where allergic rashes occur is indicated.
- You can also bathe your child in a wormwood decoction and then lubricate skin rashes with sea buckthorn berry juice.
- You can lubricate the affected areas of the skin with sea buckthorn oil and rosehip oil.
- Dandelion leaf infusion should be taken internally for a month. It is prepared as follows: take a handful of fresh leaves of the plant, pour boiling water over them, leave for half an hour and give to the child. Take half a glass of the infusion three times a day before meals.
Treatment of allergic rash in newborns
Newborn babies may develop allergic rashes in response to inappropriate food products with allergenic properties that are passed on to the baby through mother's milk.
Allergic skin reactions in infants are expressed by:
- in the form of a rash on various parts of the body;
- redness of the affected areas of skin;
- itching and burning, as well as peeling of the skin, which resemble diathesis;
- the occurrence of diaper rash that does not go away over a long period of time, despite constant precautions;
- the appearance of severe prickly heat with even a slight degree of overheating;
- the occurrence of gneiss, that is, the formation of scales and their peeling on that part of the head that is covered with hair, including the eyebrow area;
- the appearance of hives;
- the occurrence of Quincke's edema.
The greatest danger for newborns is Quincke's edema, which is characterized by the sudden appearance of swelling of the skin along with the subcutaneous tissue and mucous membranes. With Quincke's edema, the newborn has symptoms of suffocation in the larynx area, which resemble bronchial asthma in their manifestations. Edema of the larynx is accompanied by hoarseness, the appearance of a barking cough, and then shortness of breath with noisy breathing. The complexion of the newborn changes to cyanotic, and then suddenly becomes pale.
It should be noted that allergic skin lesions can be combined with allergic lesions of the gastrointestinal tract or bronchi. Food allergies affect the future occurrence of diseases such as atopic dermatitis and bronchial asthma.
Treatment of allergic rash in newborns begins with following a certain dietary regimen that excludes all possible allergens. At the same time, a nursing mother should seek help from doctors - a pediatrician and an allergist.
For one or two weeks, a nursing mother should exclude the following industrially produced foods from her diet. These include those that contain preservatives and colorings, emulsifiers and sugar. The use of salt, sugar, strong broths, fried foods and milk is also completely excluded during this time. Dairy products should be consumed in minimal quantities. At the same time, it is very important that natural, i.e. breastfeeding, does not stop in any way. Since mother's milk contains substances that help strengthen the immune system and protect the newborn's body from allergens.
Milk is considered the most common allergen. Then come various chemical additives in the form of preservatives, dyes, various fillers, vitamin complexes, fluorine and iron preparations, drug coatings, and various herbs. Brightly colored fruits, berries, and vegetables also provoke the appearance of skin rashes. Gluten, a protein found in most cereals, is a strong allergen to which newborns react (it is not found in buckwheat, rice, and corn, which are therefore not allergens).
The presence of other highly allergenic products in the diet of a nursing mother is appropriate only after the baby is one year old. This applies to eggs, honey, fish, seafood, cocoa and chocolate, caviar, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms, nuts, citrus fruits, raspberries, peppers, strawberries, kiwi, pineapples, pomegranates, mangoes, persimmons, melons, natural coffee.
If allergic edema in a newborn increases sharply, urgent medical measures are required, namely:
- Immediately call an ambulance by dialing 103. When doing so, you need to ask over the phone about the dose of antihistamine that you have at home to give to the child until the ambulance team arrives.
- After that, it is necessary to give the newborn an antihistamine in the dose recommended by specialists. Diphenhydramine, diprazine, diazolin, suprastin and claritin are suitable for these purposes. These drugs are produced both in the form of tablets and in the form of a sweet syrup, which is most convenient to use for infants. Once again, I would like to remind you that these drugs can only be used after consulting a doctor.
It happens that at the age of three weeks, rashes in the form of small red pimples, called milia, appear on the skin of infants. These manifestations are not associated with allergies, but are a consequence of hormonal changes in the newborn's body. At this time, maternal hormones disappear from the baby's body, and their own hormones come in their place. The baby must adapt to these changes, and during the transition period, such skin reactions occur in the newborn. By one and a half months, these manifestations will disappear in any case, so the mother should not worry, and also take this rash for an allergy. Also, you can not squeeze these pimples, or try to remove them with cotton wool or gauze. In this case, the penetration of infection through the affected areas of the skin is great and serious consequences for the health of the baby appear.
Diathesis and other allergic skin rashes in newborns are always accompanied by other manifestations of allergy. These include redness and roughness of the skin, the appearance of very dry areas on the skin, the appearance of frequent green stools in the newborn, severe anxiety, itching of the skin, which may be accompanied in some cases by sneezing and coughing.
The cause of skin rashes in newborns is considered to be not only food allergies to certain foods that the mother consumes, but also the following:
- Children's cosmetics in the form of creams, oils, milk, powder, etc.
- Fabric softeners that are used for both children's clothing and for clothing of adults with whom the child is in constant contact.
- Washing powders, even for children.
- Perfumes and cosmetics used by close adults.
- Synthetic and woolen fabrics.
- Pets, aquarium fish, dry food for aquarium fish.
Therefore, at the first symptoms of an allergic rash, it is necessary to minimize the newborn’s contact with the above-mentioned allergens.
For external use in the treatment of allergic rashes the following are used:
- frequent air baths,
- baths with chamomile and succession infusion once or twice a day,
- fresh carrot juice, which is applied to the affected areas four to five times a day using cotton wool,
- Cosmetic drying hypoallergenic products for weeping allergic rashes.
If the allergic rash becomes very severe, it is necessary to show the newborn to a doctor and, on his recommendation, use some traditional medicine.
If an allergic rash appears in a newborn, parents also need to monitor the following points:
- It is necessary to establish regular bowel movements of the newborn, since constipation causes the absorption of toxins into the blood, which must be removed with feces. Due to the stool disorder, the body absorbs allergens that would leave the gastrointestinal tract if the intestines were functioning normally. Subsequently, the newborn is poisoned by toxins and allergens, which appear on the child's skin as an allergic rash.
- No pharmacological agents should be used to treat a newborn, especially for internal use. The exception is cases when the degree of allergic reaction poses a serious threat to the health and life of the baby. Those drugs that can be easily absorbed by an adult organism most often cause harm to a newborn in the form of strong side effects.
Medicines in the form of syrups recommended for newborns are no exception due to the fact that they contain preservatives, dyes, flavors, etc. The substances they contain can worsen an already aggravated allergic disease.
The most harmless means for treating skin allergies in newborns are considered to be natural ones, that is, those available in folk medicine. At the same time, it is necessary to remember that newborns may have allergic reactions to herbs and other natural remedies. Therefore, before treating the baby, it is necessary to consult a pediatrician.
- When caring for a newborn, you should use only specialized hypoallergenic baby cosmetics that have a neutral pH level.
- When bathing a newborn, the water in the tub should be warm enough, but not hot. And the duration of water procedures should not exceed twenty minutes. At the same time, the water for bathing should be free of chlorine, for which it must be filtered or settled for one to two hours, and then boiling water should be added to it in order to heat the water.
- To avoid damaging the skin, you should not rub the newborn with washcloths. You should not constantly use toilet soap, even baby and hypoallergenic. A newborn simply cannot get so dirty that he needs to be bathed with soap every day - weekly use is enough. Of course, when bathing babies, various bath foams, shower gels, etc. are also excluded. After bathing, you need to gently blot the baby's skin with a towel, and then lubricate the child with a moisturizing and softening agent.
- A newborn should also not overheat, so it should always be dressed according to the season in optimal lightweight clothing, which should be made of natural fabrics. If there is a tendency to frequent allergic rashes, you can iron the baby's clothes before dressing. Bedding in the form of pillows and blankets should have synthetic fillers, since natural components can cause allergic rashes.
- Toys and objects that a newborn manipulates should be made from natural materials or have quality certificates that indicate their safety for babies.
- It is necessary to monitor the quality of the air in the room - it should be clean and humid, with a moderate temperature. To do this, it is necessary to frequently wet clean the room and air the home several times a day. It is also necessary to take measures so that the baby spends a lot of time outdoors.
Treatment of allergic rash on the face
When an allergic rash begins to appear on the face, it is considered a "tragedy" for women and leads to dissatisfaction with their appearance in men. Even children's mood worsens when they notice allergic rashes on their faces.
Treatment of allergic rash on the face begins, first of all, with the detection of the allergen that caused such unpleasant skin manifestations. After that, it is necessary to remove the allergen from the patient's reach or stop contacting it. In this case, it is necessary to immediately contact a specialist - an allergist who will help get rid of the symptoms of allergic rashes.
An allergic rash on the face manifests itself as severe peeling of the skin, the appearance of reddened areas and numerous small red dots, various blisters and swelling, unpleasant itching, as well as a feeling of tightness and dryness of the skin.
An allergic rash on the face appears as a result of the patient's body's reaction to some component of a drug or food product taken internally. Such rashes are also observed when using unsuitable cosmetics on the skin of the face - creams, lotions, milk, masks, foundation, powder, etc. Contact with plants and animals can also result in the appearance of a rash on the face and the occurrence of unpleasant symptoms.
It should be noted that the appearance of strong signs of allergy on the face can occur within two days after interaction with the allergen. Therefore, it is quite difficult to detect the sought-after provocateur of the disease due to the fact that it is necessary to remember all possible cases that caused the rash on the face.
Allergic manifestations on the skin of the face in adults can be treated both in hospital and at home. Home treatment is allowed when the patient's condition is not so severe, and medications can be used at home. Acute allergy symptoms require immediate hospitalization and the patient's being under the supervision of specialists.
There are several types of allergic rashes on the face:
- Eczema.
- Hives.
- Neurodermatitis.
- Contact allergic dermatitis.
Each of these types of allergic rashes is accompanied by constant unpleasant itching of the skin. At the same time, it is very difficult for the patient to resist scratching the skin, which leads to an increase in the manifestations of allergies in the affected areas, as well as infection of new ones.
Knowing the peculiarity of allergic reactions, an adult can minimize the occurrence of allergic rashes on the face, using precautions. First of all, do not use new unfamiliar skin products without first testing them on a small area of skin. This applies to various ointments and other medications that are rubbed into the skin, as well as cosmetics in the form of creams, emulsions, lotions, milk, masks, etc. Decorative cosmetics that are used by women - foundation, powder, mascara, etc. should also be tested before constant use.
There are also other recommendations that will help avoid the appearance of unpleasant symptoms:
- Medicines for any use - external and internal - should be used only when prescribed by the attending physician. In this case, the specialist must be informed about possible allergic reactions to medications. After which the doctor will be able to choose the safest remedy for use.
- It is necessary to constantly use protective face creams. This measure must be resorted to due to the aggressiveness of the current environment. The negative impact of dirty air with impurities of vehicle exhaust, industrial emissions, dust, as well as exposure to wind, solar radiation, etc. can cause the appearance of an allergic rash on the face.
- To minimize the possibility of rashes due to the consumption of inappropriate foods, it is necessary to exclude foods with preservatives, colorings, flavor enhancers and other chemical components from the diet.
- The food consumed by an allergy sufferer should be fresh and grown with minimal use of chemical fertilizers. It happens that allergic rashes on the face appear after eating greenhouse vegetables, fruits and berries. Therefore, do not rush time, but wait for them to appear in natural terms during the ripening season.

- Compresses with boric acid should be applied to the affected areas of the skin. Boric acid should be of a weak consistency - half a teaspoon per glass of distilled water. To apply a compress, take gauze, fold it in several layers, moisten it with the resulting solution, put it on the inflamed areas of the skin and hold for ten to twenty minutes. Moreover, gauze for five times during the above time.
- Fresh black tea of a weak consistency is also suitable for compresses, as well as sage infusion, chamomile infusion and succession infusion. These products are prepared by brewing one teaspoon of dry matter per two hundred grams of water with boiling water. After which the infusion should be left for two hours, then strained and used for compresses. The duration of the procedure and the change of gauze bandages is the same as in the previous case.
- Allergic rashes caused by eating unsuitable food are treated by cleansing the face and applying compresses. Next, you need to dry the skin of the face well, using a linen towel. After that, you need to use face powder prepared on the basis of potato starch.
- A dermatologist may prescribe antihistamine ointments, which should be applied to the affected areas of the skin. These medications are used twice a day, and the ointment is applied to the skin without rubbing hard. Treatment with ointments will be discussed in detail in the relevant section.
- The attending physician may prescribe the following medications for internal use: calcium preparations and antihistamines - suprastin, diphenhydramine, claritin, and so on.
