The temperature of the Dead Sea pleases vacationers all year round. Let's consider the climate of the Dead Sea, the air and water temperature. And also choose the ideal time of year for vacation and treatment on the shores of the Dead Sea.
The Dead or Salt Sea is a unique natural phenomenon located in Israel. The sea is the lowest point on the globe, as its surface is -400 meters below the world ocean. It is rightfully considered the saltiest lake. It has no outlet, so it is thermal, evaporating huge amounts of water into hot, dry air. Even on the coldest winter days, 2 mm of water evaporates from the surface of the sea.
But the sea amazes not only with its beauty and uniqueness, but also with its healing properties and very rich composition. Thus, about 33% of the Dead Sea is salt, which is the reason for the absence of life in it. Only bacteria that do not die in salt water live in the sea. Since water evaporation is high, as is the air temperature in the valley, the flow exceeds the inflow of water into the sea. Because of this, the Dead Sea is gradually shrinking. Thus, over the past 100 years, the coastline has gone down by 40-50 meters. According to scientists, the sea will dry up completely in 700-900 years.
- Since the sea has healing properties, medical tourism is developed on its coast. Thousands of people from all over the world come to the sea coast for health improvement and prevention of various diseases. The sea has increased mineralization, the water is so dense that it keeps any weight afloat. It is recommended to stay in the sea for no longer than 20 minutes, after which it is necessary to wash off the salt solution with fresh water.
- The weather is sunny all year round. It rarely rains, and usually in winter. The sea is in a depression and surrounded by mountains, so there are no strong winds on the coast. The air is saturated with bromine, which has a beneficial effect on the body and accelerates the recovery process.
- Another amazing fact about the Dead Sea is that no matter the weather, you can't get sunburned at sea. This is because harmful ultraviolet radiation does not reach such a low level. And because of strong evaporation, a thick layer forms above the water, which acts as a filter.
Dead Sea Water Temperature
The water temperature of the Dead Sea is quite high throughout the year. Due to the special climate, the water temperature, like the air, is kept at a high level, that is, without sharp changes. The Dead Sea has a sunny clear sky and fairly dry air. About 50 mm of precipitation falls here annually, which does not affect the water temperature.
The Dead Sea water is a liquid that is a concentrated acid, alkaline and saline solution. Almost all the salts of the periodic table are dissolved in the waters of the sea. The water contains sodium, magnesium, bromine, calcium and sodium ions, which play an important role in the human body. Human lymph and blood have a composition of microelements similar to sea waters.
- Potassium salts that evaporate from seawater and do not precipitate. But thanks to modern technology, they have been crystallized. Minerals such as potassium, bromine, and carbonate are mined on the seashore.
- Dead Sea salt is a mixture of minerals and microelements, which are ten times higher than in the waters of the oceans and seas. The main part of the water is: sodium chloride, magnesium, sodium, calcium, potassium, bromine. Each of the elements plays an important role in the vital activity of living microorganisms.
- Thanks to the fumes of bromine (a natural relaxant), fatigue and stress go away at sea, and the treatment is effective.
The temperature of the Dead Sea water depends on the season. So in the winter months the temperature is at the following level: December +23, January +21, February +19. In winter, sea water is more saturated with minerals and microelements than in the summer months. In spring, the water temperature becomes higher: March +21, April +22, May +25. In the summer months, the water warms up to the following marks: June +28, July and August +30. In autumn, the water in the sea is the warmest: September +31, October +30, November +28. The Dead Sea pleases with warm waters and is always ready to receive visitors for rest and treatment.
Air temperature at the Dead Sea
The air temperature at the Dead Sea, as in Israel, is quite hot. The air is dry all year round, and the sky is cloudless and sunny. In summer, the average air temperature is 30-30° C, and in winter 20-24° C.
- In winter and spring, the air temperature at the Dead Sea remains at +25° C, in rare cases dropping to +10° C.
- In summer the weather is hot, the average air temperature is +35-39° C, and sea water +35° C. But vacationers and fans of the healing power of the Dead Sea are not afraid of such weather. Since all the conditions for a pleasant vacation have been created on the resort coast.
The Dead Sea area has quite weak ultraviolet radiation. The atmospheric pressure is 800-810 mm Hg, the air has a high oxygen content. Humidity is quite low, 27% in the summer months and 38% in the cold season. The wettest and heaviest months are January and February, with about 9-10 mm of precipitation falling during this period. From May to September – 0 mm, with an average of less than 50 mm of precipitation falling per year.
The air temperature at the Dead Sea, like the weather, is cyclical. In December the air temperature is +20, in January +21, and in February +19. In the spring months the air temperature is higher: in March +21, in April +28, and in May +30. The weather is warmest in summer: June +33, July +35, August +39. In autumn the air temperature is still dry, but it becomes cooler: September +30, October +30, November +28.
