Methods of research.
Muscles have an extended length. The longest muscle can be more than 50 cm in length. Retraction of the proximal end of the torn muscle can be more than 10 cm. Therefore, to optimize muscle tissue, it is optimal to use the panoramic scan mode, which allows you to evaluate the muscle all over and conduct more accurate measurements.
The frequency of 5-7.5 MHz is optimal for the study of almost all muscle groups, but for small superficial muscles it is recommended to apply higher frequencies - 12-15 MHz.
The method of studying the muscles provides for the search for the most painful area, which, as a rule, corresponds to the place of damage. It is important to examine the areas of muscle attachment, the site of the tendon-muscle junction and the muscle function during contraction and relaxation. Start the study with longitudinal scanning along the long axis of the muscle. The pathological site should be evaluated during isometric contraction and relaxation in two mutually perpendicular planes, comparing with the contralateral side.
