Sweet syndrome (acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis) is characterized by the formation of soft, inducible dark red papules and plaques with pronounced edema of the upper dermis and an infiltrate of neutrophils in a histopathological study.

What causes the syndrome Sweet?

The cause of the disease is not known. Often observed concomitant malignant formation, especially hematological.

Sometimes there is a combination of acute fever neutrophilic dermatosis and myeloprophylactic disease, and acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis can occur in chronic myelocytic leukemia, acute myelocytic leukemia, Hodgkin's lymphoma, skin cell lymphoma, multiple myeloma.

How is Svith syndrome treated?

Treatment includes the use of systemic glucocorticoids, mainly prednisone 60 mg, orally 1 time per day for 3 weeks. It is also recommended the appointment of antipyretics. In severe cases, Sweet syndrome requires the administration of dapsone and potassium iodide.
