One of the important conditions for the successful outcome of surgical treatment of joint pathology is minimal trauma of operations. This forced many traumatologists-orthopedists to look for ways to reduce trauma by reducing arthrotomy access, so doctors came to arthroscopy. However, insufficient access significantly limited the possibilities of joint revision and performing the necessary techniques. This led to an increase in the number of intraoperative errors. In addition, the use of traditional instruments with extremely small arthrotomy incisions forces the surgeon to perform intra-articular manipulations almost blindly, which often leads to technical errors and significant damage to intra-articular formations.

Reducing the trauma of individual knee joint surgeries can be achieved by providing optimal conditions for examining the joint cavity during intra-articular surgeries. One way to provide such conditions is to use modern endoscopic equipment for knee and other joint surgeries, as well as improving special instruments for arthroscopic surgery: scissors, clamps for capturing loose bodies, biopsy forceps, joint lavage tubes, etc.

At the current level of development of traumatology and orthopedics, surgical arthroscopy has certain advantages. One of the main ones is the high diagnostic capabilities of arthroscopy, which allow for a full visual examination of all sections of the joint and the determination of morphological changes in intra-articular formations.

Arthroscopy is performed according to the information received. The probability of tactical and technical errors in the treatment of joint pathology is reduced.
