Rhinitis is divided into acute, chronic and vasomotor. Acute rhinitis (acute runny nose) is an acute inflammatory disease of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity. Chronic rhinitis (chronic runny nose) is a chronic inflammation (non-infectious dystrophic process) of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity. Vasomotor rhinitis is a general disease of the body with a predominant local manifestation of pathology in the nasal cavity in the form of paroxysmal sneezing, runny nose and difficulty in nasal breathing.

These diseases are treated in outpatient and polyclinic settings and at home using conservative methods. Physiotherapy for rhinitis is based on the use of light therapy (ultraviolet and laser irradiation of the nasal passages) and UHF therapy of the nasal area.

Ultraviolet irradiation of the mucous membrane of the nasal passages is indicated for acute rhinitis and exacerbation of chronic rhinitis with the presence of a runny nose. For these purposes, the light therapy devices ON-7 (former name - UGN, four-tube group ultraviolet irradiator for the nasopharynx) and "BOP-4" (portable bactericidal irradiator, one tube, former name - OKUF-5M) are used - sources of integral ultraviolet radiation (wavelength 235 - 365 nm, from the short-wave to the long-wave spectrum of the ultraviolet part of the optical spectrum of EMI).

UFO of the nasal mucosa in patients with the above forms of rhinitis is performed for 2-3 days, once a day in the morning. The exposure time in each nasal passage is 0.5-2 minutes.

UHF therapy

UHF therapy of the nasal area is performed for all forms of rhinitis using UHF-30, UHF-66, Undatherm or Minitherm devices only in the athermic exposure mode (the output power of the device during exposure is no more than 15 W). For a course of treatment for acute rhinitis, no more than 3 daily procedures are recommended, for chronic and vasomotor rhinitis - 5-7 daily UHF exposure procedures, which are performed once a day in the morning.

Laser therapy

If the procedure of UFO and ultrasound therapy is usually carried out in the physiotherapy room of a clinic, then laser (magnetic laser) procedures for various forms of rhinitis can be carried out on the patient at the workplace and at home.

For this purpose, devices generating radiation of the near infrared part of the optical spectrum (wavelength 0.8 - 0.9 μm) are used, in continuous or pulsed mode of generating this radiation. It is advisable to carry out the procedures using devices whose emitters have an impact area of about 1 cm 2 with the contact method. There is no significant difference in the methods of laser (magnetic laser) therapy of one or another form of rhinitis.

The method of exposure is contact and stable.

Impact fields: one field on the right and one on the left for the area of the wings of the nose. PPM NLI 5 - 50 mW/cm 2. Magnetic nozzle induction 20 - 40 mT.

Radiation modulation frequency: if there is a runny nose, the first 1-2 procedures are carried out with a frequency of 80 Hz, all subsequent procedures until the end of the course of exposure - with a frequency of 10 Hz.

The exposure time per field is 5 minutes. Duration of the treatment course: for acute rhinitis - 3-5 daily procedures (the first two days it is possible to carry out procedures 2 times a day with an interval of 4-6 hours), for chronic and vasomotor rhinitis - 7-10 procedures daily 1 time per day in the morning (before 12 o'clock).

Device "Azor-IK"

The experience of physiotherapists indicates that the use of information-wave therapy with the help of the Azor-IK device is quite effective in treating various forms of rhinitis, especially for self-treatment by the patient in various conditions as prescribed and under the supervision of the attending physician.

The method of exposure is contact and stable.

Impact fields: one field on the right and one on the left for the area of the wings of the nose. In the presence of a runny nose, the first 3-5 procedures are carried out with a frequency of 80 Hz, all subsequent ones - with a frequency of 10 Hz.

The exposure time per field is 15 minutes. Duration of the course of treatment: for acute rhinitis - 3-5 daily procedures (the first two days it is possible to carry out procedures 2 times a day with an interval of 4-6 hours), for chronic and vasomotor rhinitis - 7-10 procedures daily 1 time per day in the morning (before 12 o'clock).
