Ultrasound examination of the pancreas is part of the diagnostic complex of abdominal organs. The features of the structure and location of the organ make the examination difficult, but ultrasound allows you to visualize the gland in different projections and assess its condition.
Indications for ultrasound examination of the pancreas
- Discomfort and pain in the epigastric region upon palpation, presence of a palpable neoplasm.
- Monitoring the condition of the body in acute or chronic pancreatitis, identifying complications of the disease (necrosis, cysts, abscesses).
- Deformation of the stomach walls detected during gastroscopy.
- Yellowness of the mucous membranes or skin.
- Diabetes mellitus.
- A sharp decrease in body weight and regular bowel disorders.
It is recommended to perform an ultrasound of the pancreas after preliminary preparation, as this guarantees better and more accurate results. A couple of days before the procedure, it is necessary to adhere to a dietary diet, refuse to eat foods that cause increased gas formation, flour products, raw vegetables and fruits.
