Traditional medicine methods are a popular therapy option that patients often resort to in order to get rid of a fungal infection. And this is not surprising, since natural products (berries, herbs, substances of animal origin) have long proven their effectiveness. Complex therapy, which involves taking medications and alternative methods, is especially effective.
If we compare pharmaceutical products and natural ingredients, the latter have a number of advantages. First of all, it is a soft action, a minimum of side effects and contraindications. Such products are safe even when absorbed into the systemic bloodstream. When using folk methods, you need to follow the rule - they should not replace traditional medications. Since there is a risk of not curing the infection completely, which will allow it to become chronic and the disease will drag on for a long time.
Most often, candidiasis appears due to a weakened immune system. The body cannot cope with the inflammatory process, cheesy discharge from the genital tract, burning and itching occur. Based on the described symptoms, folk remedies should have certain therapeutic properties.
- Anti-inflammatory – chamomile, calendula, celandine, oak bark, St. John's wort. They are used to make decoctions that are needed for douching, baths and internal use.
- Antipruritic – plants with anti-inflammatory properties will reduce the infectious process, which helps eliminate itching. That is why local application (baths, irrigations) quickly soothes the inflamed mucous membrane of the genitals and minimizes unpleasant symptoms.
- Bactericidal – garlic and celandine are capable of destroying not only yeast fungus, but also other bacteria. They are excellent for vaginal douching.
- Healing - chamomile, St. John's wort, calendula, yarrow. Herbs relieve pain and accelerate the process of regeneration of damaged tissues. They help well in cases where thrush has caused microtraumas and erosions on the mucous membrane.
- Immunostimulating – rose hips, lingonberries, rowanberries, cranberries. Contain a complex of vitamins, including ascorbic acid, which helps strengthen the immune system. Fruit drinks, infusions are prepared from the berries, or they are consumed fresh.
Local application helps to relieve inflammation, soothe irritation, itching and burning. In addition, using folk methods, you can cleanse the mucous membrane from cheesy plaque. For these purposes, the following procedures are needed:
- Douching - regardless of the medication, the procedure can be performed no more than 1-2 times a day and no longer than 3 days in a row. This is due to the fact that not only fungi are washed out of the vagina, but also beneficial microflora, which is fraught with bacterial imbalance.
- A decoction of chamomile, calendula, oak bark and celandine relieves inflammation and eliminates itching. The herb is poured with water and boiled over low heat for 10-15 minutes, then left to brew for an hour. Such decoctions can be used for douching or simply washing the parts of the body affected by the fungus.
- Garlic and celandine decoction are also suitable for douching. 2-3 cloves of garlic should be infused for an hour in a glass of boiling water. Celandine decoction should be used very carefully, as the plant is poisonous.
- Baths are used in cases where the inflammatory process has affected not only the vaginal mucosa, but also the vulva area.
You can use the same herbs as for douching. Only for baths you need a large volume of decoction. It is better to carry out the procedure in a sitting position in a bath or basin, for 15-30 minutes. 1-2 times a day is enough to reduce painful symptoms.
- Tampons - inserted into the vagina overnight, soaked in a medicinal product. For this, take infusions of eucalyptus leaves, rosehip seed oil or calendula tincture. Some recipes suggest inserting tampons soaked in whole garlic juice. But due to inflammation of the mucous membrane, this method can lead to greater irritation.
Let's look at an approximate treatment regimen for candidiasis using folk methods:
- At night, douche with tea tree oil and calendula oil.
- In the morning, douche with an infusion of chamomile, sage, oak bark and nettle. You can use an infusion of calendula and chamomile.
- Make a tampon out of gauze, sewing a thick thread to it. Soak it well in low-fat kefir and insert it into the vagina, leaving it overnight. In the morning, douche with chamomile infusion. 5-7 procedures will completely relieve itching and inflammation.
- For baths, prepare a decoction of equal parts of calendula, sage, juniper, chamomile, birch buds and eucalyptus. For douching, a decoction of nettle, oak bark, string and lavender (2:3:1.5:1) is suitable. It is better to carry out the procedure at night.

Chamomile
Elimination of vaginal fungal infection with chamomile is suitable for patients of all ages, including pregnant women. Chamomile has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and sedative properties. It is due to this that the plant has become widely used in the treatment of thrush. The pharmacological action is due to the complex of substances included in the herb: chamazulene and mitrcine. Chamazulene has an anti-inflammatory effect, accelerates regeneration processes and has an anti-allergic effect. Chamomile oil perfectly disinfects and relieves pain, which promotes rapid healing of damaged mucous membranes and skin.
For medicinal purposes, douches with chamomile, infusions and decoctions are used.
- Pour 250 ml of boiling water over a spoon of dried chamomile flowers and heat for 10-20 minutes. The infusion should be left to brew for 30-60 minutes. After that, it should be filtered and used as a lotion, douching or for washing.
- Mix chamomile and calendula 1:1, pour a liter of boiling water and leave overnight. Strain the infusion and use for douching.
Calendula
Flowers or infusion of calendula will help to effectively cope with thrush. The plant contains enzymes, essential oils, tannins, phytohormones, glycosides and other components that are useful for women's health. Calendula has about 20 species that grow in almost every corner of the Earth. In gynecology, it has proven itself to have an antimicrobial and bactericidal effect, which is similar to the effect of fairly strong antibiotics. The medicinal properties of the plant are based on an effective antifungal effect.
Douching, lotions, baths and infusions are suitable for therapy. A strong herbal decoction is effective in the treatment of candidiasis, vaginitis, cervical erosion, inflammation of the appendages, cystitis and many other female diseases. The plant has virtually no contraindications and side effects. Calendula douching is considered the most effective. It can be combined with other herbs, for example, chamomile.
Celandine
Celandine juice and infusion are effective against thrush. The healing effect is due to the alkaloids that make up the plant. Celandine contains about 20 of these chemicals. The root of the herb contains the most biologically active components. Celandine is an effective anesthetic, fights viral and fungal infections, and accelerates regeneration processes.
- Place a couple of spoons of fresh finely chopped or dried celandine in a small saucepan and pour boiling water over it. Boil for 3-5 minutes and let it brew under the lid for an hour. As soon as the infusion has cooled, it needs to be filtered, divided into two parts and used for douching. It is better to do the procedures twice a day - in the morning and in the evening. Oak bark
Very often, oak bark is used to eliminate the symptoms of yeast fungal infection. The thing is that the plant component effectively fights the causative agent of thrush and minimizes unpleasant symptoms. Oak bark restores mucous membranes damaged due to metabolic, dyscirculatory and neurohumoral processes caused by fungal infection.
This herbal medicine is irreplaceable for thrush, as it has the following properties:
- Covers the mucous membranes with a protective film, which prevents pathogenic microorganisms from penetrating into the tissues.
- Tannins have regenerative properties and are excellent at restoring vessels and tissues damaged by fungus.
- Antiseptic and antimicrobial substances slow the growth of opportunistic microorganisms and restore the balance of microflora.
There are several ways to use the plant for medicinal purposes. But the best are douching, baths and washing. To prepare an infusion, just pour boiling water over the bark, simmer over low heat, let cool and strain. It is necessary to take into account that this method has contraindications, so it is better to consult a doctor before use.
Aloe
Aloe, like many medicinal plants, is excellent for eliminating yeast fungal infections. It reduces painful symptoms, relieves itching and burning that occur with candidiasis. For medical purposes, juice and gel are used, which are obtained from the fleshy part of the leaf.
The plant has antifungal properties and destroys harmful microorganisms. Local application soothes affected skin and mucous membranes. To get maximum benefit from a yeast infection, you will need a fresh aloe leaf. It must be cut, squeeze out the gel and apply to the affected areas. The gel and juice can be diluted with water and taken orally ½ cup twice a day before meals.
But, despite its usefulness and naturalness, aloe is not recommended during pregnancy and lactation, since oral use stimulates uterine contractions. In addition, active substances penetrate the child's body with breast milk, which is not very useful for the child. Frequent use of aloe can cause gastrointestinal diseases and diarrhea. In addition, the plant can cause allergic reactions. Therefore, it would not be superfluous to consult with your doctor.
Treatment of thrush with soda
Treating yeast fungus with soda is one of the most common methods recommended by both folk and traditional medicine. The mechanism of action of soda is based on the fact that the solution destroys the fungus, and the alkaline environment slows down its spread and leads to complete destruction. Soda is used for washing and douching.
Both douching and baths relieve all symptoms of the disease, relieve itching, redness, burning, and help eliminate cheesy discharge and unpleasant odor. The procedure involves washing the vagina, but it is best to do it after consultation and approval from a doctor.
- To prepare a solution for washing, mix a spoonful of soda and a spoonful of iodine with a liter of warm water. Mix the ingredients well, pour the solution into a basin and sit in it for 10-15 minutes. The solution can be taken again, adding another spoonful of soda and iodine. The second procedure should last 20-25 minutes. To achieve a positive effect, 5-6 procedures are enough.
- For a solution for douching, take a liter of warm water and a teaspoon of soda. Dissolve the soda well and perform irrigation.
- Please note that prolonged douching disrupts the normal composition of the vaginal microflora, which will only increase the symptoms of thrush and can lead to vaginosis. Therefore, this procedure is suitable as an auxiliary means to relieve unpleasant symptoms. The procedure is prohibited in the early stages of pregnancy, within a month after childbirth, with inflammation of the genitals or before visiting a gynecologist.
Treatment of thrush with kefir
In order to get rid of the yeast fungus Candida, traditional medicine offers recipes with kefir. Any dairy products, including kefir, are useful for thrush, as they strengthen the immune system weakened by the disease, normalize the work of the gastrointestinal tract, which is very important if therapy for oral candidiasis is necessary. In addition to kefir, for a speedy recovery, it is necessary to take antifungal drugs prescribed by a doctor. This will completely eliminate the disease and prevent relapses.
Kefir is used for douching and tampons. Despite the fact that such treatment at first glance seems absurd, the effectiveness of the fermented milk drink has been confirmed by many gynecologists.
- Tampons - take a regular tampon or make one from a piece of gauze with a tightly stitched thread, dip it in kefir and insert it into the vagina. Before use, you can wash yourself with chamomile infusion, which has an antibacterial effect.
- Douching – helps to cope with any type of fungal infection, both in case of damage to the genitals and oral cavity. For the procedure, it is better to take fresh kefir, rich in lactobacilli.
If the disease is accompanied by strong cheesy discharge, then kefir with magnesia will help. Magnesia is mixed with warm water (a spoon per liter), douching is done and a tampon with kefir is put in. It is better to resort to this method after consulting a gynecologist, since the reaction of the mucous membranes to the fermented milk product is individual for each patient.
Treating Thrush with Honey
Honey is valued for its medicinal properties and is used in many areas of medicine, including gynecology for vaginal fungal infections. The benefits of its use are obvious, it is a natural product, does not cause severe allergic reactions (abdominal pain, burning and itching of the genitals) and helps to restore skin irritated by fungus.
Using honey helps to get rid of Candida fungi in a short time, increase the protective properties of the immune system, eliminate itching, swelling and speed up the healing of damaged mucous membranes. In each specific case, different methods of using honey help, let's consider them:

Garlic is a unique product that helps cure thrush at any stage. The plant is active in the treatment of bacterial, viral and fungal infections. To achieve the desired effect, it can be eaten, as it increases the protective properties of the immune system, and the body destroys the yeast infection.
Garlic can be used for douching. To prepare a solution, crush a clove of garlic and pour 500 ml. The medicine should be infused for 2-3 hours, after which it should be filtered and the procedure should be carried out. For the complete disappearance of symptoms, 1-2 procedures per knock for 3-5 days are enough. It is better to combine douching with eating the plant, as this will reduce the amount of yeast fungi in the gastrointestinal tract.
Treatment of thrush with onions
Eliminating vaginal candidiasis with onions is a popular folk medicine remedy. The plant contains phytoncides that suppress and delay the growth of pathogenic microorganisms. Onions effectively help cope with upper respiratory tract diseases, stomatitis, purulent wounds and ulcers, ear diseases and fungal infections.
To combat thrush, take a medium onion, peel, chop and apply to gauze or a narrow bandage. Twist the gauze into a tampon and place it in the vagina. Another option is to squeeze the juice onto a tampon and insert it into the vagina. Please note that the onion may cause burning and mild irritation. Duration of therapy is until the symptoms of the disease are completely eliminated.

Homeopathy is suitable for pregnant and lactating women, as well as children. Its advantage is that all efforts are directed not at combating painful symptoms, but at eliminating the cause of the disease.
As a rule, homeopathic remedies are used for oral administration. The principle is to debug the body's disorders, that is, to improve the hormonal background and enhance the immune system. The effectiveness of the method depends on the correct choice of remedy, so you should not self-medicate. Since only a professional doctor can select the appropriate medication, focusing on the complexity of the disease and its causes, as well as the financial capabilities of the patient.
These medications are quite safe, have a minimum of contraindications and do not cause allergic reactions:

Treatment of thrush with laundry soap
You can often hear about eliminating thrush with the help of laundry soap. Such a "grandmother's method" seems absurd, but has a right to exist. The soap contains sodium salts, natural and useful fatty acids that fight pathogenic microorganisms, but do not destroy useful microflora. Since the soap is alkaline, the fungus living in an acidic environment dies. This allows you to quickly get rid of burning, itching and cheesy discharge.
- Use washing, the procedure is simple, but very effective. In order to eliminate the symptoms of the disease, you need to dilute the soap solution to white and thoroughly wash the vagina with it. 1-2 hours after the procedure, you need to wash yourself with clean warm water.
- In addition to washing, you can do baths with a soap solution. Grind the soap on a grater, pour warm water until completely dissolved. It is recommended to do baths no more than three times during the entire course of treatment, since laundry soap dries out the mucous membrane very much.
During therapy, you need to follow a diet, as the treatment is necessary for the entire body. Sweets, fatty and fried foods should be excluded from the diet. The menu should contain a lot of fiber, which will help restore digestion, the disruption of which often leads to candidiasis.
Treatment of thrush with salt
Salt has medicinal properties that accelerate the regeneration processes of damaged skin areas. We are talking about sea salt, which is used in cosmetology and medicine for dermatological diseases and any other skin lesions.

For washing the vagina, it is better to take white vinegar, 2 tablespoons are diluted in 250 ml of water. If thrush is accompanied by severe itching, you can soak a tampon in a solution of vinegar and water and insert it into the vagina, this will eliminate discomfort.
Baths with vinegar are considered effective. To do this, add a glass of the product to a bath filled with water. The procedure is carried out for 10-30 minutes, and the therapeutic effect will be noticeable in a week. When choosing vinegar as a remedy for thrush, you need to go through the entire course of therapy for 7-10 days, since relapses are possible after the elimination of the first symptoms.

The fasting program is designed for 14-22 days and consists of several stages. First of all, it is cleansing the body of parasites and toxins and the stage of intensive healing. The preparatory stage involves preparing the body for fasting. To do this, a few days before the planned treatment, it is necessary to cut portions, switch to plant foods. This will relieve the body of severe stress and minimize possible side effects.
During the fasting period, it is necessary to take a complex of vitamins and minerals, since the body will not receive useful substances from food. You need to drink about 2-3 liters of purified water per day, this will speed up the cleansing process. It is better to carry out this procedure during the vacation period, since it can cause dizziness, headaches, increased fatigue and tachycardia. It is better to reduce physical activity to a minimum.
The correct way to end fasting is quite important, as it determines how long the achieved result will last. The first 3-5 days you need to drink juices and fruit drinks diluted with water, for 5-7 days, gradually add liquid soups and porridges to the diet, then vegetables and fruits. Such treatment will not only get rid of thrush and cleanse the body, but also help to normalize weight.

Some folk recipes include hydrogen peroxide as a cure for thrush. Hydrogen peroxide is effective for injuries and infections of the skin, has hemostatic and antimicrobial properties. Peroxide is a colorless liquid with a weak but distinctive odor. When it gets on the damaged area of the skin, under the influence of enzyme systems, the substance gives off oxygen, providing an antiseptic and deodorizing effect. When eliminating the yeast fungus Candida, it affects the mycelium of the fungus, removing them from the mucous membrane and slowing the development of the infection. At the same time, the substance is not a drug with antifungal properties, but is very effective in the early stages of candidiasis.
As a rule, douching, tampons and washings are used. First, it is necessary to wash the vagina with a solution of potassium permanganate, and then put a tampon with a thin layer of sodium tetraborate for 40 minutes. It changes the acidity of the vaginal environment, suppressing the proliferation of harmful microflora, and stimulates the restoration of local tissue immunity.
The medicine is available in the form of a solution and vaginal suppositories. These forms of release are used intravaginally, but to eliminate Candida fungi in the intestines, oral administration is possible. To prepare the solution, take 10 doses of the substance (lyophilisate powder is suitable for both local use and solutions for oral administration) and a spoonful of warm water. When eliminating candidiasis, it has a detrimental effect on yeast fungus and many bacteria, stopping their reproduction and growth. As a rule, it is used for douching, but it is also available in the form of vaginal suppositories. The procedure is carried out in a horizontal position, after hygienic manipulations. The solution should be introduced slowly, as soon as the required amount is introduced into the vagina, you should remain in a horizontal position for 15-20 minutes to avoid premature leakage of the medicine. Douching is carried out once a day, the course of therapy is 7-10 sessions. Chlorhexidine is well tolerated, so it is allowed during pregnancy.
Treatment of thrush with potassium permanganate
A solution of potassium permanganate (potassium permanganate crystals) is used to treat infected wounds and surfaces. The substance is small blue-violet crystals with a shiny sheen. The color of the solution directly depends on its concentration. A freshly prepared solution has a pronounced oxidizing activity and antimicrobial action. But, despite the antimicrobial effect, potassium permanganate has not proven itself as an effective substance in gynecology. A concentrated solution can cause a burn of the mucous membrane, so only douching is used.
Features of douching:
- An incorrectly performed procedure can cause vaginitis.
- It is used for the prevention of fungal and infectious infections after childbirth, but only as prescribed by a doctor.
- The solution dries out the vaginal mucosa, which is detrimental to both fungi and beneficial microflora.
- A concentrated solution may cause a burn, leading to erosion.
- It is used as an auxiliary method of therapy in combination with antifungal drugs.
The mechanism of action of potassium permanganate is to neutralize enzymes and toxins of the fungus, which normalizes the acid-base balance of the vagina. To prepare the solution, take 250 ml of boiled water and 0.2 g of potassium permanganate. The ingredients are thoroughly mixed until the crystals are completely dissolved. A new solution is prepared for each procedure. Therapy is carried out twice a day for 3-6 days. This method is considered extreme in the treatment of candidiasis, so if possible, it is better to use soda or herbal decoctions and infusions.
Treatment of thrush with chlorophyllipt
Chlorophyllipt is used to treat candidiasis, as it has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. The substance is based on the extract of eucalyptus leaves. It is available in the form of an alcohol and oil solution, tablets and spray. For therapy, take a 1% alcohol solution, which is diluted in 50 ml of warm water. It is excellent for douching and baths.
It is better to perform the procedure twice a day, that is, in the morning and before bedtime. The external genitalia are treated with a solution or spray. A 2% oil solution is needed to moisten tampons, which help to stop the yeast infection. The procedure is performed 2-3 times a day for 5-7 days. Chlorophyllipt tablets and injection solution are not used to treat thrush. The medication is prescribed by the attending physician.
Treatment of thrush with iodinol
To eliminate candidal infection, many medications are used, including iodinol. The substance consists of molecular iodine, which has a disinfecting effect. This provides an antifungal antimicrobial effect. As a rule, patients are prescribed douching (the drug is diluted with water 1:1).
Iodine suppositories have therapeutic properties. The main component of the drug is povidone-iodine. It blocks the amino group of protein at the cellular level, which has an extensive antimicrobial effect. Suppositories are inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina. The procedure is carried out twice a day for 5-7 days.
In addition to suppositories, blue iodine containing potato starch helps eliminate yeast infections. Such a natural composition allows using the product without any restrictions. The substance suppresses pathogenic microflora and accelerates regeneration processes, and is used as an external remedy.
