Vegetables are a source of vitamins, minerals, organic substances and polysaccharides. Their regular consumption saturates the body with calcium, potassium, magnesium and other useful components. Vegetables contain essential oils and fiber, which have a beneficial effect on the digestion process and intestinal peristalsis. Many dishes and even desserts are prepared from them. They are an indispensable addition to meat or fish.
But uncontrolled consumption of vegetables has a number of negative consequences. First of all, it is individual intolerance to different products. For example, some people have allergic reactions to beets, others cannot stand cucumbers, and others get a fever after eating zucchini.
Among vegetables, there are many that have a pronounced laxative effect. For example, overeating beets and cucumbers very often ends in terrible diarrhea. Raw vegetables are another danger. Their coarse fiber aggravates chronic gastrointestinal diseases and causes digestive disorders. Therefore, when eating vegetables, like other products, you need to observe moderation.
Overeating garlic
A spicy plant with antibacterial properties, used as a spice in the preparation of many dishes is garlic. It contains vitamins of group A, C, D, P, as well as sulfur compounds, essential oils, phytoncides, proteins, fats, fiber and other macro and microelements.
Eating garlic has an antitumor effect, reduces blood glucose and cholesterol levels, prevents blood clots and increased blood clotting. But excessive consumption of this plant is dangerous for the body. Garlic is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Ulcerative lesions of the stomach and duodenum.
- Diseases of the genitourinary system.
- Inflammation of the pancreas.
- Neuritis and nephrosis.
- Exacerbation of hemorrhoids.
- Pregnancy and lactation.
- Anemia and obesity.
Overeating garlic increases the risk of heart attacks in people with ischemia and atherosclerosis. The plant can provoke an epileptic seizure, headaches, absent-mindedness and decreased concentration. Garlic contains toxic substances that corrode the gastric mucosa and disrupt the chemical processes of digestion. Abuse of garlic leaves behind an unpleasant odor from the mouth, which is very difficult to get rid of.
Overeating cabbage
A popular vegetable used in salads, first and second courses is cabbage. When fresh, it contains many useful micro and macro elements that improve the functioning of the body and digestive system. But excessive consumption of the vegetable causes a number of unpleasant symptoms:
- Stomach pain.
- Heaviness and bloating in the abdomen.
- Nausea.
- Darkening of the vision.
- Negatively affects the endocrine system, provokes hormonal disorders.
- Exacerbation of gastric and duodenal ulcers.
- Increased acidity of gastric juice.
- Disturbance of stool, diarrhea.
It is not recommended to overeat fresh cabbage if you have thyroid disease, ulcerative or inflammatory gastrointestinal tract lesions. The juice of the vegetable corrodes the walls of the stomach, so fresh cabbage is prohibited for people with high acidity. It also contains a large amount of fiber, so overeating slows down the digestion process and starts fermentation in the intestines.
Stewed cabbage irritates the intestinal walls and can cause stomach upset. After heat treatment, the harm of the vegetable does not decrease. Stewed cabbage is generally contraindicated for people with hypertension, kidney disease, intestinal spasms, ulcers, enterocolitis, as well as after recent operations on the peritoneum or chest.
Sauerkraut contains a large amount of salt and vinegar, so overeating it causes swelling, flatulence and abdominal pain, heartburn, and increased blood pressure. In this form, the vegetable is prohibited for people with kidney disease, pancreatitis, ulcers and gallstones, cholecystitis, and thyroid dysfunction.
Overeating carrots
A healthy and affordable vegetable with healing properties and a pleasant taste is carrot. The root vegetable contains many useful microelements that the body needs. The increased content of beta-carotene gives the vegetable a bright orange color, has a beneficial effect on the organs of vision and the immune system. It also contains ascorbic acid, tocopherol, vitamins B, K, PP.
Despite the high concentration of dietary fiber, the product has a low calorie content. But excessive consumption of carrots is dangerous to health. Gluttony of this vegetable threatens the following complications:
- Exacerbation of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer.
- Increased intestinal acidity.
- Headaches.
- Increased fatigue.
- Increased blood sugar levels.
- Vitamin A overdose.
- Diarrhea.
- Stomach upset.
- Carotene jaundice.
- Allergic reactions.
People with kidney disease should be especially careful when eating carrots. Large amounts of carrot juice can cause nausea, vomiting, lethargy, and drowsiness. Since the vegetable contains a large amount of fiber, it can create an excessive load on the intestines, which will adversely affect metabolic processes and digestion.
Overeating White Beans
Beans are a source of vegetable protein, vitamins and minerals. The product contains essential amino acids, fiber and dietary fiber, which are very useful for the body. There are several types of beans, but white beans are especially popular. They have a pleasant taste, are quick to prepare and normalize the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, improving intestinal peristalsis.
Excessive consumption of white beans can cause protein poisoning. The product causes increased gas formation, so overeating is often accompanied by bloating, abdominal pain and even nausea. In addition, it takes a long time to digest, triggering fermentation and putrefaction processes in the intestines.
Beans are contraindicated to eat raw. Their seeds contain a large number of toxic substances, the use of which disables the digestive system and causes symptoms of poisoning. The plant also contains purine, so white beans are not recommended for the elderly, with gout, stomach ulcers, gastritis, pancreatitis, cholecystitis.
