Night pain can become a real nightmare for everyone, because in our sleep we want to take a break from the pressing problems of the day, immerse ourselves in a world of dreams, and not wake up screaming in the middle of the night. Sometimes we even manage to get rid of unpleasant sensations with the help of several hours of healing sleep. However, unfortunately, this is not always the case. Unlike daytime pain, we do not perceive nighttime pain with the full force of our consciousness, which requires special attention when choosing treatment methods.

Typically, these pains are a reflection of problems that a person faces during the day, but sometimes at night the symptoms only get worse. Most often, patients complain of the following types of nighttime pain:

  • Back diseases;
  • Headache at night;
  • Toothache at night.

So, what are the characteristics of these “problems” and how to get rid of them?

When joints ache

Night back pain is most common among older people and those whose work involves heavy physical activity. Complaints also come from office workers who sit for eight hours in front of a computer screen. The causes and factors are varied, and banal fatigue is not uncommon. The type of pain also varies significantly: it can be dull, cutting, stabbing, pressing, and can have a spasmodic or squeezing character. Night pain can occur both when making an uncomfortable movement and at rest.

If the painful sensations become chronic, do not tolerate them - contact a therapist who will immediately begin diagnostics, usually with an examination and collection of information about your feelings, condition and conditions of the symptoms. Perhaps you are suffering from osteochondrosis, scoliosis or spondylosis? Whatever the case, in order to minimize the likelihood of recurrence of unpleasant night "shooting pains" and get rid of such an unpleasant condition as night pain, follow several rules:

  • try to walk and sit up straight during the day,
  • take breaks when doing sedentary work,
  • stretch your back with simple physical exercises,
  • Sign up for a therapeutic massage or physical therapy.

Patients also often use various gels that relieve pain in the spine, as well as the Lyapko applicator - a rubber mat with small needles attached that do not scratch the skin at all.

When the head has no peace

Migraine is a relatively common occurrence. Incredibly intense pain usually plagues girls starting from the age of 17-20, especially intensifying by the age of 30-35. Bright light and sound aggravate this disease, all smells are felt very clearly. Sometimes the condition is worsened by tinnitus and dizziness, weakness. As a rule, when a migraine occurs, the patient is driven by one desire: to go to bed as soon as possible. However, sleep does not always help. Often, a pill of a painkiller that helps you helps to cope with the difficulty that has arisen. However, in order for night attacks and night pain not to become frequent, it is necessary to develop a set of useful habits in the future:

  • Don't go to bed late, get enough sleep;
  • Spend time walking and doing pleasant activities;
  • Avoid excessive physical activity;
  • Don't be stressed;
  • Don't drink a lot of coffee and alcohol.

When your teeth are not in order

It is no secret that toothache at night is not a pleasant sensation. It is very difficult to tolerate, and sleeping with aching teeth is almost impossible. There are many reasons for the occurrence of painful sensations in the mouth:

  • Caries is the destruction of a tooth as a result of an infection entering the mouth. As a result of this disease, teeth gradually deteriorate, and the pain experienced at night can be aching and dull;
  • Pulpitis is an inflammation of the dental pulp, called the pulp. The unpleasant sensations are especially aggravated by sudden changes in temperature, a combination of hot and cold food.
  • Periodontosis is a disorder of the tissues surrounding the tooth. More than half of the world's people are susceptible to this disease. Its characteristic symptoms are soreness and bleeding gums, night pain.

If you are experiencing excruciating toothache at night, take a painkiller pill and make an appointment with your dentist the next morning!

What to do if you have night pain?

If night pain continues for a long time, disrupting your routine, significantly reducing your ability to work, you should think about its prompt treatment! If the cause of your problems is not a disease, but some psychological difficulties, think: maybe you are too tense, overworked and constantly thinking about the bad?
