The neck performs so many useful roles in the body that when it gets sick, we feel absolutely helpless. Today - more about cervical pain.
[1],
Why is the neck pain so strong?
The neck is a rather flexible, but very fragile organ that tends to strain during the whole working day and even at night with an uncomfortable position of the body. Therefore, the neck is very vulnerable. There are a lot of nerve endings in it. That is why the neck reacts so sharply to irritants and starts to ache.
How and why does cervical pain develop?
This pain doctors dubbed cervicalgia. A chamber in the neck is called like - cervikago. When the neck hurts, pain can be given in the hand, chest and even head - so strong it can be.
A lumbago in the neck (a strong sharp pain in the form of a shot) can arise and gain strength when the receptors of the nerves are irritated. The cause of their irritation can be hypothermia in drafts, awkward twist, overstrain of muscles and vertebrae during long standing in one posture.
- This pain overtakes a person quickly, even when he did not expect it.
- Then each movement causes an even sharper pain, a person freezes in one position, and the muscles seem to "stain".
- The most difficult for cervical pains are movements in the upper part of the body (especially the chest), and even in the shoulder.
- If even pain can be removed with painkillers, the neck can still bother for about 10 days. Then the pain will begin to subside even without simple treatment.
But be prepared for the fact that the average period of easing of pain in the neck is from one to two weeks. Less often there is a situation when the pain in the neck can not last up to two months. This is already a serious symptom, requiring a serious approach to treatment.
What is pain in general?
It is the reaction of your body to irritation of nerve endings, which are contained in tissues and organs. This reaction is a signal to protect against stress, malfunctioning of organs, chronic diseases, inflammation.
The structure of the neck and pain in it
The cervical vertebrae are located on the spinal cord. There are seven in total. Between these spines are discs, and next to them - the cervical nerves. They can become inflamed and sick.
In the neck there are many different structures: arteries, muscles, lymph nodes, veins, thyroid gland, trachea, larynx, esophagus. All these organs and systems are interconnected and vital. A malfunction in one of them or inflammation can cause pain in the neck.
What will the neck pain tell?
That there are big problems in the cervical spine of your spine. It is necessary to urgently contact the doctor for examination as soon as the exacerbation passes. The fact that cervical pain indicates other diseases, except for spine diseases, is unlikely.
First of all, you need to pay attention to the health of the back and neck.
