Leptotrixose pharyngitis is an infectious parasitic disease of the mucous membrane of the pharynx, which proceeds in the form of acute pharyngitis or sore throat with the defeat of palatine tonsils.

Causes of leptotrixose pharyngitis

It is noted that leptotrixose pharyngitis occurs in weakened and mentally retarded children and persons with impaired digestion, this disease is caused by the fungus Leptotrix buccalis. Morphologically, the disease manifests itself on the whole surface of the pharynx, including on the basis of the tongue, the appearance of multiple white dots tightly welded to the underlying mucosa and protruding above its surface. These white dots represent parasite colonies that do not cause any unpleasant subjective sensations and do not violate the physiological functions of the pharynx and oral cavity.

Diagnosis of leptotrixose pharyngitis

Differentiate leptotriose pharyngitis primarily from pharyngokeratosis, which has many common external signs with this disease. The difference lies in the fact that with pharyngokeratosis, dense whitish formations are located only in the mouths of crypts of palatine tonsils, while in leptotriksose pharyngeal pathogens are spread throughout the surface of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity and pharynx. The final diagnosis is determined by microscopic examination.
